"Sacrament"

Part 2

He was gone again when I woke later in the day and scrambled because I was late for work. I didn’t like it but there wasn’t much I could do about it so I went straight to my office and froze the moment Trowa came into sight.

“What’s up,” he asked staring cautiously at me and I realized I was probably stark white and still as a gravestone.

“I forgot to brush my teeth,” I deadpanned fully aware of how lame the excuse was but he snorted and shook his head glancing back at me warily while I took my seat at my desk.

My mind was all over him before I could get my computer booted up but it wasn’t the him I the room I was pining after. It was his body, his beautiful green eyes and those long, luscious legs that I wanted but they were moving about in the wrong way. When Duo was in control there was this fluid grace that begged my eyes to watch and though the view was lovely it just wasn’t the same without him.

I tried to ignore it but the memory of his sizzling kiss kept caressing my mind until my body was primed and rearing to go. I sighed when I realized I was hoping for it, that I wanted Duo to come possess him and make it possible for me to make him mine but it was so wrong. If I discovered I was being used as a sex doll for the benefit of a wayward demon I doubt I would be very forgiving but I couldn’t help wishing then just around noon Trowa stood up and walked to the window to pull the blinds shut and every nerve in my body sang with anticipation.

“Trowa?” I breathed when he came straight for me but his eyes no longer reflected his soul, their emerald light overshadowed by a decadently deep, violet shadow that seized control of my body and mind and I accepted him into my lap with great vigor.

“Duo!” I breathed pulling him tight.

“You have the most sinful fantasies,” he rasped kissing me with such heat I thought he might melt and pour right down my throat.

“You…can hear my thoughts?” I queried already working on removing his pants.

“Nnnnnnnnng!” he groaned wriggling to aid my intention and I felt the heat of his body invade my blood and suddenly stood dumping him on my desk where I thrust between his legs and scrabbled for his shirt which was the scene displayed when our supervisor walked into the room.

“Hiiro?!” he gasped clearly socked beyond reason while I moved off of Trowa’s body and Duo sat him up and pulled his shirt closed. “What’s going on here!?” he demanded quickly shutting the door.

“Wufei,” I entreated hoping to stay our execution for having been caught making out on company time but Duo wiped my mind clean with two words.

“Sexual harassment,” he sniffed straightening Trowa’s clothes while he wandered back toward his desk.

I was shocked beyond words and suddenly recalled that he was, indeed, a demon when Wufei’s dark eyes flashed and he barked a stern, “Come with me!”

My career was over; everything I’d worked for would disappear on the breeze when this got around. I didn’t know what to say, how to explain or if I should even bother trying but when the door to his office shut he turned and I had just a moment to see the impish gleam in his eyes before he tackled me.

“Wu…fei?!” I gasped trying desperately to fend off his hands but he was working fast and I gaped until I saw the amethyst light in his eyes. “Duo?!”

“Take me now!” he hissed shedding his, or rather, Wufei’s pants and I swallowed so hard it hurt.

“Wait!”

“No,” he grumbled falling on me to start working on my pants.

Now, I’ll admit Wufei is a good looking guy but he was not only my boss having been in the same program as Trowa and I the year before, but I’d never felt even the slightest stirring of desire toward him. He was beautiful with coal black hair and the golden skin of his Chinese ancestry but his personality was stern and hard. I respected him but had never looked at him at a prospective lover, at least, not until Duo’s soul was in control of his body.

“Damn it,” I groaned feeling my resistance fading while he stroked me and gnawed upon my ear. “You’re going to drive me insane,” I grumbled then growled when his did this little trick with is thumb and I dumped him on his back and lit into him like a rampaging beast. I wasn’t sure where my stamina was coming from because it hadn’t been five hours since I’d spent the night locked in turmoil with him and Quatre but I wanted him so badly I nearly broke him before it was over.

“Ok?” I rasped seriously concerned for Wufei’s body while I extracted myself.

“Fan-fucking-tastic,” he giggled and I couldn’t help but smile at the silly image he presented.

I looked at him for a time while he lay there with his eyes closed and soaked in the afterglow and realized that it just didn’t matter what body he was in, I wanted him just the same. It was pleasant that he kept choosing ones that were so easy on the eyes but the truth was what I longed for was to feel the real him, to have his arms hold me and feel his body tremble in the heat. What I wanted so badly wasn’t just a body to hold but a direct connection to his soul, one that was essentially Duo. What I needed was him.

“Where are you going?” he asked having faded into view in the passenger seat of my car.

My eyes shifted to consider him while my blood heated up and I forced them back to the road trying hard to forget that he was wearing blue jean cut offs and a black leather vest that barely covered his ribs.

“The library?” he chuckled following me inside but I didn’t dare talk with him for fear the people around me might call the men with the white jackets.

He followed me around while I made my selections growing more amused by the minute but I didn’t care.

“I’m not a science project you know?” he grinned when I deposited several books on demons on the counter to take home. “You might as well give up,” he sighed lying back in the bucket seat of my car. “There isn’t any truth in those sorts of books anyway.”

I didn’t much care for his attitude so I kept my mouth shut but my need to have him near me in the physical sense was weighing on me every more heavily. I was desperate to find some way for us to be together but his assessment proved sound with each page I turned. There wasn’t much I actually put any trust in but the material did bring some interesting questions to light.

“Are you evil?” I asked having read a passage that described his kind as horrid beast’s intent on devouring mankind.

“That’s entirely dependent on your particular point of view,” he grinned letting his eyes bubble with mischievous light but the ability didn’t frighten me. On the contrary it set my blood on fire and I dove back in until another query crossed my mind.

“Are there any female demons?”

“Why?” he asked from where he’d kicked back on the couch and was nibbling on something…odd.

“This book says all demons are male.”

“Humans decide their own perception,” he informed me.

I cocked my head thoughtfully then reiterated, “Are there females in the netherworld?”

“Why do you care?” he snipped rolling over to present me with his back and I couldn’t stop the grin when I understood he was jealous.

His tail was twitching anxiously but soon settled and he stilled to a point I figured he’d fallen asleep but I wasn’t ready to give up. Thankfully, my reading skills are well above average and I managed to put most of the text in my head before the wee morning hours but I only found one book that warranted further investigation.

“Why don’t you bring Quatre over after class?” he purred while I was getting ready to leave and I had to fight the swelling desire to hold him down and make him scream with all my might but I had business that wouldn’t wait.

He was absent during classes which left me an opportunity to talk with Quatre on an amiable level and I discovered I very much enjoyed his company. The underlying desire had softened without Duo’s presence allowed us to simply connect which left me feeling very warm inside while I drove to the west side. I wondered why he didn’t appear but that neighborhood isn’t the safest place to be so I was glad he wasn’t there to distract me. The reason I’d come was leaving me feeling a little foolish on top of that so the reprieve was welcome but I started to feel lonely once my shopping was done.

“Duo?” I inquired when I entered my apartment but he didn’t answer so I sighed and dropped my coat over the back of the couch before heading for the kitchen to make something to eat.

It felt odd not having him around so I was already edgy when the bell rang but the fact that Trowa was on the other side set my mind to spinning.

“Hi,” he greeted looking at me as if I’d popped a nut while I gaped and tried to discern if he was himself or not but from the look in his eyes Duo wasn’t there.

“What’re you doing here?” I asked moving aside when he invited himself in.

“I thought I might have left my cell here the other night,” he informed me going about looking for it.

I followed him around tentatively wondering over his sudden appearance and whether it might have happened through some coercion of my resident demon but he remained in control of his faculties until he’d scoured the apartment and came up empty.

“Damn it,” he sighed scratching his head. “I had it day before yesterday. Where in the world…”

*ding*dong*

I almost chipped a tooth when I tensed because there was only one other person on the face of the planet that would ring my door.

“Aren’t you going to answer it?” Trowa asked cautiously eyeing me as if I might start chanting and dancing around the room.

I swallowed but went to the door terrified that I’d find what I did on the other side but it didn’t change anything. “Hi, Quatre,” I offered glancing at where Trowa was standing quietly watching us.

“Oh,” Quatre breathed when he saw him. “I’m sorry,” he offered shying in a way that made me feel as if I’d been caught cheating. “I didn’t know you had company,” he said unable to pull his eyes from the ground. “I guess I’ll…”

“I was just leaving,” Trowa piped in coming to stand with us at the door.

“Oh,” Quatre nodded.

“I’m Trowa,” my co-worker offered along with his hand and something in my mind clicked while I watched Quatre lift his to take it.

“Quatre,” he smiled and I couldn’t stop the corner of my mouth from curling up when an electric charge coursed through the air.

“Quatre’s attends my school,” I explained.

“Really?” Trowa replied and I hid my growing smile because he had yet to let go of Quatre’s hand.

“Trowa’s a bioengineer,” I offered hoping to get the conversation rolling but Quatre was a star struck as Trowa.

“Biomachanics,” he managed but I had a feeling neither of them were thinking about school or work anymore.

“You guys should hook up,” I suggested urging Trowa out into the hall. “You have a lot in common.”

“Yeah,” Trowa smiled falling into step beside his new companion. “Would you like to get some coffee?”

“Sure,” Quatre replied and I grinned from ear to ear while I watched them disappear down the hall.

I almost jumped out of my skin when Duo sounded behind me with, “I wish I could possess them both at the same time.”

“Geez!” I groused closing the door. “Don’t do that!”

“I could coerce one or the other to come back,” he offered through a sultry smile that made the tendons in my neck vibrate but I’d had enough of the faux unions.

“Let them be,” I sighed heading for the table where the new book I’d bought rested.

I was aware of the shadow in his eyes but I wasn’t willing to keep using my friends as a catalyst for my desires. He watched me for a moment while I picked up the book and opened it then moved into my personal space with such grace it was all I could do to remember how to read.

“There’s always Wufei,” he grinned hovering so close to my mouth I felt the need to kiss him rise up in my throat and growled while I searched the pages more fervently. I didn’t get it but my desperation to find the right chapter was making him more uneasy by the moment until he finally snipped, “Fine!” and started to fade away and my heart almost stopped.

“Duo!”

“All you had to do was tell me to go away!” he snapped trying to avoid my advance.

“What?!” I gasped incomprehensively.

“You mean to exorcise me!” he growled jerking away and I instinctively reached for him whereupon we both stopped dead still and gaped when my hand closed over his wrist.

“Duo?” I gasped still unable to believe.

“How?” he exclaimed and I almost howled because I could feel the racing of his pulse under my palm.

“This!” I grinned jerking my sleeve back to reveal the talisman I’d bought along with the book.

He paled but there was hope in his eyes when he asked, “Where did you get that?” while he stared in wide eyed wonder at the intricate bracelet.

“From the Bewitchers Guild,” I explained pulling him close but our lips merely brushed along the same air without connecting and I groaned when he pulled away. I could see the pain I felt at the loss reflected in his eyes but was determined to make it happen. “I wasn’t trying to exorcise you,” I explained holding up the book while I explained. “I was looking for a way to summon you here.”

“Here?” he breathed almost fearfully while his gaze danced around then he laughed wryly. “Hiiro, that’s a very…permanent endeavor. Once I’m summoned I can never return.”

“Do demons live forever?” I asked drawing him close again so I could at least be near his mouth.

“No,” he breathed clearly unsettled by my presence.

“Then stay with me.”

“I can’t,” he whimpered when I turned my attention to his fingers and tasted the reality of his skin for the first time.

“Then I’ll come there,” I bargained.

“You’d never survive,” he panted because I had turned his hand and was kissing his palm.

“Please,” I begged laying my cheek in his hand and was gratified to feel him shudder.

“I can never go back,” he whispered and though it pained me I sighed and thought to leave it for the time being but when I started to let go he clung to me tightly.

“Duo?”

His smile was pure light when I looked at him, a smile I hadn’t seen on his lips since we met but I liked it very much because it was accompanied by his surrender.

“Stand there,” I instructed suddenly rushing in excitement and he laughed joyously and did as he was bid.

The ritual was corny but the talisman worked so I put my faith and all my heart into the incantation and was rewarded when he shimmered and smoked then all went quiet and he was standing before me for the first time, his eyes alight with wonder and I dropped the book when I realized he no longer had a tail.

“It worked?” I deadpanned unable to do more than stare numbly while he walked over then every cell in my body sang when his long arms slipped around my neck and his long body laid lusciously against mine so I was even more surprised than him when I gasped, “Wait.”

“What?” he chuckled clearly shaken by the apparent rejection but I wasn’t in the mood to patronize his insecurities.

“Marry me,” I insisted backing him toward my bedroom and he laughed. “Seriously,” I persisted. “Promise me you’ll never leave.”

“I’m a demon,” he grinned allowing me to lay him down on my bed. “I have no idea how to survive in your world,” he confessed. “So you’ll have to take responsibility for what you’ve done.”

I looked down his lovely body and felt the marrow of my purpose quicken in my veins while my mouth spread in a wide grin and I laid myself him upon and replied, “Nooo problem.”
