"Pawn Shop "

Ch 1

My uncle is a strange individual who likes to tinker with things. I think his fascination with machinery began during the war when he was mortally wounded and the implementation of several cybernetic appliances upon his person saved his life. He served as a scientist in the military for a number of years after the incident but eventually retired turning his back on what he considers a corrupt and unreasonable bureaucracy. However, his need to tinker has not diminished over the years which was why I found myself behind the counter of a pawn shop.

The job is interesting enough most of the time and helps pay my tuition but the main reason I’m there is no different from his. Having been raised by my estranged uncle after my parent’s death instilled in me a curiosity about these oddly useful and compliant attributes mankind calls machines. Since the war was fought with robotic technology there’s still plenty circulating in the ebb and flow of daily life and the pawn shop helps in providing ample substance for our collective curiosity.

*ching*

I looked up from the circuit board I was extracting components from to regard the young man that had entered the shop. He was about my age, seventeen at most, with a long shock of hair over one of his eyes but I didn’t get the feeling he was a threat. I can usually tell what the patrons of our shop are about just from the look in their eyes but he was difficult to read. At first I thought perhaps he had come in just to browse the odd array of gizmos and tools as his attention shifted that way but he passed them by in favor of the jewelry counter and I sighed internally. He looked too intelligent to fall into the trap of coercing a girl to his side with gifts but it wasn’t my call.

“May I help you?” I asked laying my work aside.

He paused long enough to memorize my face then pointed to the hundreds of pieces of jewelry in the case and said, “That one.”

I was curious over what appeared to be a hasty decision considering most people spent hours gawking at the many different items to choose from and wondered why he picked a unisex ear stud of emerald and gold. It was a nice piece that was obviously of custom design depicting the roaring head of a lion with the emerald set in the eye surrounded by a golden sunburst that my uncle had taken in over a year prior. It was an exquisite rendition though the price was well over what it was actually worth. I recalled the punk that brought it in and the ill content it caused in me when he was willing to part with it for twenty dollars. It was obviously stolen though there was no way to prove it so my uncle set it in the case with a ridiculous price hoping the owner might chance by and claim it.

“Are you certain?” I asked in the hope he might realize the price was much too high and barter but he merely nodded. “Would you like it wrapped?” I persisted laying it on the counter so he could see how small it was compared to the fee but he only nodded again.

His eyes turned back to the tools and gadgets while I found a box and some golden twine to tie around it which made me wonder where his interests lie. Was he a mechanic or inventor?

“Will that be all?” I asked noting that he had picked up a chrio chamber and was studying the custom bio cylinder I had added to one end.

“This is for stasis,” he observed revealing he was more up to date that most of the population on such things.

“It’s an alteration of the original function,” I explained. “I used it to collect samples of extremophiles last summer.”

“What is the duration?” he asked turning it this way and that.

“About six weeks,” I replied repressing a smug smirk when his head snapped up to gape at me.

“Impressive,” he nodded laying it on the counter. “It should be suitable for embryonic transport then.”

“Embryonic?” I echoed uncertain of his intentions.

“One of our tigers is having trouble with a pregnancy,” he explained seeing my concern.

“A tiger?” I inquired while I boxed the chamber up.

“I work with the circus,” he replied crinkling a brow when I gave him his total which was missing the fee for the cylinder but I didn’t feel right charging him for it when the jewelry was so overpriced.

“Consider it a donation,” I explained. “For the benefit of an endangered species.”

He looked at the bill then at the little ear stud and smiled while he nodded and paid me. I wasn’t surprised that he understood I still came out on top because anyone of his intelligence was well aware that the price of the stud was outlandish which only made me wonder why he’d agreed to pay it. However, it wasn’t any of my business what he deemed was a worthy price to spend on his girl so I kept my mouth shut and bid him farewell.

The rest of the day went by as predictably as any other though I did manage to solve a problem with a bionectric transfer cuff I’d been working on. People came and went, some buying while others sold everything from their grandmothers necklace to their last stereo upgrade. It was going on seven before I knew it but before I could put all my projects away the door opened and my entire world changed.

*ching*

“We’ll be closing in about…” but that’s as far as I got when I looked up and saw him standing there.

I’d never seen anyone quite like him before and felt the presence of his being slowly invade me. It soaked my eyes and drowned my senses, his scent was clean and provocative when it permeated my defenses, the light in his eyes infused with a decadent energy that set the hairs on my arms on end and when he looked my way and smiled I felt an explosion go off deep in the recesses of my mind.

“Hi,” he greeted flushing softly while I gaped at him like a docked carp before I managed to snap my mouth shut.

“How can I help you?” I asked stepping closer though the accused counter was between us so I had to stop before I could take him in my arms.

“If you’re closing up I can come back,” he offered causing a painful tightening in my chest.

“No!” I gasped feeling the heat of embarrassment on my face when it startled him. “It’s fine. Was there something you needed?”

“Well…I,” he began seeming uncertain and I felt the tendons in my thighs tighten. “You buy things to use as collateral against the loan right?”

“Do you need money?” I asked wanting to know any and everything about him.

“I have this,” he said producing a small, silver cross.

It was a fine piece though not worth more than fifty dollars. “How much do you need?”

“Five hundred,” he sighed fingering the watch where it laid on the counter and I had to swallow before I drooled on my shirt.

“Is it important to you?” I asked more because I wanted to know he would come back for it than because I wanted the money back should I buy it.

“You wouldn’t sell it?!” he asked suddenly concerned.

I considered the way his hand had snatched it up possessively and was reasonably certain he would return for it so I soothed, “Of course not. As long as you come back and make the payments it’ll be perfectly safe.”

“I can make payments?” he asked laying it back on the counter.

My uncle was going to kill me if he found out but there was no way I was going to let him walk out without knowing when I could see him again. “Is twenty five a week too much?” I asked smiling reassuringly for him.

His eyes got a bit round but then he smiled and took a deep breath while he held it out to me. “That’ll be fine,” he told me but I was lost in the sparkling light in his eyes. “Will it be on display?” he asked eyeing it while I took it from his fingers.

“Actually,” I replied, “If you don’t mind I’d like to keep it right here,” I told him fastening it around my neck. He stared at me for a moment then glanced at the cross nervously until I promised, “I’ll keep it safe.”

His smile set spring in full bloom in my heart but I didn’t realize I was smiling like an idiot until after he left. It toned down a little when the reality that I’d just given him the entire days profit set in but I couldn’t help the bounce in my step when I thought about seeing him again the next week. It was amazing how slow time seemed to move after I met him but the days just seemed to drag by until I thought I’d loose my mind. I couldn’t concentrate on anything which had my uncle convinced I was ill by Wednesday. I assured him I was fine and managed to keep him from counting the till before the weekend when Duo was supposed to come by.

I grinned every time I looked at the neat scrawling of his name on the agreement that would bring him back to my door but when six thirty rolled around he hadn’t appeared. I was getting nervous that I’d been taken advantage of by six forty five then the door opened and my chest swelled when I saw him walk in but my elation quickly ebbed when I saw the distress in his eyes.

“Are you all right?” I asked concerned for his well being.

“Yes,” he replied though he looked anything but. “Do you still have my cross?”

The hopeful edge in his voice caught me off guard but I pulled it from beneath my shirt and showed him wondering over its origin when he visibly relaxed.

“I told you I’d keep it safe,” I smiled letting it rest against my chest but his eyes were quickly sinking into shadow. “What is it?”

“I…” he began having some difficulty with the words, “I’m sorry,’ he choked gazing at the little cross longingly. “I don’t have the money yet but if you can hold it for just a couple more days…!”

My heart was racing.

“…I swear I’ll get the money! Please, it means a lot to me.”

He seemed so desperate to get it back.

“It’s all I have left,” he confessed.

“I,” I had to stop and clear my throat of the unmanly squeak, “I’m held accountable by the owner,” I told him feeling my skin tingle when his eyes misted over. “Isn’t there…anything you can offer?” I asked while my eyes took a trip down his savory body.

He backed up looking decidedly uncomfortable and I suddenly realized what the question sounded like but before I could explain his eyes darted about and he stated, “That’s what you want.”

“Wait.” I didn’t mean…

“I can’t believe…” he rasped mostly to himself looking so hurt I was mortified.

“Never mind,” I grumbled turning away but he caught my arm.

“Wait!” he gasped looking more frantic by the moment. “How far…do I have to go?”

Ohgoddamn. Was he really willing to go there? “Duo…” I breathed unable to stop my eyes from devouring his luscious curves.

“That cross is very important to me,” he confessed with such determination my mind suddenly came up with all sorts of things I might demand for its return then I cringed with self loathing and bit down on my lustful heart.

Still…”May I touch you?” is what clamored from my mouth.

He blushed looking oddly astounded by the request and retreated. “That’s all?” he asked skeptically. It was enough to make my bones ache at the thought he might agree so I nodded and he sighed heavily but gave his consent.

“Back here,” I instructed trying to keep the blood from shooting out my nose while he made his way around the end of the counter.

It was a good thing my uncle had gone to the coast on business. Gods, he was the most sinfully gorgeous person I’d ever laid eyes on and I couldn’t believe I was going to get to put my hands on him as well.

“Relax,” I soothed taking the opportunity to touch his lower back when he preceded me through the curtain that separates the back from the showroom. “I won’t hurt you.”

“Aren’t you going to lock the door?” he asked sardonically but started when I used the remote to do so. “Clever,” he observed looking around.

“I like inventing things,” I explained trying to lighten the mood and make him feel more comfortable but when I reached out to touch his arm he gasped and shied away.

“Sorry,” he offered but the flush on his face made it clear he wasn’t.

“You’re very beautiful,” I told him needlessly because he obviously knew he was attractive. He wasn’t vane but I could see the confidence his life had no doubt instilled in him.

“You like…robots,” he observed shivering in a most delicious way when I stepped closer and ran my hands over his arms.

“Yes,” I replied not really paying attention to the conversation anymore while my mind roamed the tight planes of his body.

His breath came in long and deep when I leaned in and kissed his chest just above where his shirt collar lay and I was utterly and completely lost. He smelled so good, every inch of skin that passed beneath my nose a feast for the senses, the curves of his body under my fingertips, how heady his moans while I lapped at his navel and the gasping quality of his breath while I nibbled his skin lingered in my mind intoxicating me until I didn’t know up from down.

“Hi…Hiiro,” he rasped when I exposed his perfect cock and breathed deeply of his sex then he groaned and trembled so badly I pushed him back into a chair less his legs gave out when I took him in.

It was the sweetest moment of my life to taste him like that. Never in my wildest dreams had I thought to be granted such a mind numbing delight. I worked him until I could feel his hips thrusting upward, his shaft invading my throat while I sucked and lapped at every bittersweet drop of him I could find. It wasn’t long before he was writhing in a fit of unbridled ecstasy and I clawed at his clothes wanting to dig inside his heat and was righteously enthralled when he lifted his hips allowing me access to his body.

“Duo!” I rasped taking him in deeply while I worked my fingers inside his body, the way he shivered and shook pumping like liquid lightening through my veins then he stole my breath away when he jerked and thrashed and I was granted with the rising culmination of his surrender.

“Geezuz,” he rasped while I leaned back to wipe at my wet lips but he just kept starting at me while he caught his breath until I began to feel odd.

“What?”

“Is that it?” he asked looking skeptical again.

“Yes,’ I chuckled getting up so I wasn’t kneeling in front of him. “I told you I wouldn’t hurt you.”

“Yeah, but…I mean…never mind,” he sighed fixing his pants.

I felt bad for having extorted sex from him but in actuality it wasn’t my intention and he had offered but then it wasn’t like I had to allow it either but still…

“Are you ok?” he asked noticing my turmoil but I was too embarrassed to admit it.

“Fine,” I nodded wishing there was some way I could get him to stick around for awhile.

“Then you won’t put it up for sale?” he asked pausing quietly at the curtain.

There was no way I was ever letting that cross go but I couldn’t tell him that so I just confirmed and he left me with an enormous jubilation flitting around in my ribs and a raging hard on.

I was appalled by my behavior but every time I thought about how good he tasted the guilt crumbled and blew away. I didn’t really know him which lent an air of mystery to the situation making him seem even hotter but I also felt tainted by my own audacity. I wondered over the next few days why he agreed to such a lewd solution and sat staring at his cross a lot. It was so odd, just a molded bit of silver, nothing special to my eyes other than the fact that it held some power over him. I wondered if he’d come up with the money but as the week moved on he didn’t come back seeding within me the hope that I might get another chance to touch him.

*ching*

I wasn’t anxious over the door chime because it wasn’t his day to come by but when I looked up I was stunned by the shinning image of a young man with lovely, golden locks. It was easy to see he was a man of means even if he was still a teen so I wiped the oil from my hands and put my project aside.

“Hello,” I greeted while he made his way into the shop.

“Hello,” he returned browsing over some of the modified components I had for sale.

“Are you looking for anything specific?” I asked hoping to help guide him through the disarray but was utterly unprepared for his response.

“Maybe,” he replied picking up a particularly sophisticated relay to inspect. “I’m looking for something that can distill camitiline gas to a liquid.”

I was stunned by the complexity of the inquiry because the gas he mentioned was not yet recognized as a viable means of creation. “May I ask what your project is?” I asked easing out from behind the counter.

“We believe the liquid may be a superior cushion when used as a shock absorber in large joints,” he informed me examining another of my modified items.

“Mobil suits?” I inquired opening a glass case that sat next to the wall.

“Yes,” he smiled turning his attention to me and beaming when he saw the apparatus I held.

“It’s too small to do much good in such a large application,” I pointed out but he seemed thrilled with the discovery.

“It’s perfect,” he enthused scrutinizing it so diligently I was somewhat disturbed. “My technicians should be able to duplicate the process easily once they understand the concept. Would you be willing to work with us and share your ideas?”

“I…” I began holding the enormous elation of having finally gotten the attention of someone with the means to help me make my dreams come true at bay but before I could spout off a resounding ‘yes’ I spotting a small stud in his ear, one I was intimately familiar with as it bore the likeness of a roaring lion with emerald green eyes.

“Is something wrong?” he asked cautiously while I stared at the stud.

“No,” I smiled wishing I hadn’t sold the other one but it was too late to worry over it. “Where should we meet?”

“My offices are downtown,” he informed me handing me a card that almost made me swallow my tongue.

“Winner Enterprises?!” I gasped and he smiled this tolerant little smile.

“Don’t let the name fool you,” he chuckled laying down the money for the distiller. “We’re a tinker shop just like you.”

“Yeah,’ I grinned. “But with a world class stockroom.”

He laughed showing me his brightest smile before he gave me a time and date and left me wishing again I hadn’t sold the mate to his ear stud. It would have been something to see his eyes if I could have returned it to him.
