Summary: Hiiro follows his heart and finds his
feet at Duo’s door. However, before his plan to secure the long haired
boy’s heart can come to pass he is confronted by the presence of Wufei
by his side. Hiiro finds, in his determination to see to Duo’s happiness,
that choice doesn’t always have to be this or that. Sometimes, happiness
is simply a matter of compromise. " Other Lover" Ch 4 I drove because Duo’s car was inadequate to a fault and Wufei owned only a motorcycle. However, by the time they both had showered the morning was gone so we arrived at the local aquarium neigh unto noon. The first order of business, top off the tank, a suggestion Duo took most seriously as he dragged us straight to the Cutlass Cove, an eatery serving many of the delightful fish we were about to view. I had the chicken in honor of the day while Wufei settled with a salad and our braided polar north distractedly nibbled a bit of trout. It will never cease to amaze me how very intense he is about consumables for someone who rarely finishes a meal. “This is good,” I mentioned casually enacting a plan to thicken his slim midriff. “Here, try it.” Happily, he readily obliged, chuckling warmly when a bit of breading danced down his chin. “You’re going to be hungry again in half an hour,” he smiled at Wufei, feeding him, in turn, a bit of fish. Once bitten, he opened his mouth in entreaty and Wufei reluctantly, coyly placed a tomato slice on his tongue. Not to be bested I grinned and gripped a chicken finger between my teeth laying a sturdy hand on the back of Duo’s giggling head and drawing him near to share the morsel. Duo’s second bite of salad, a round, well dressed slice of cucumber was not so reluctantly offered but before he could ingest it I sent a hand across the way snagging Wufei’s wrist and drawing the vegetable to my mouth. He scowled predictably but his annoyance amused Duo which in turn was delighting me so I continued on that thread. After lunch, when approached by a charming young maid who ever so helpfully offered her wares along side a large tank filled with playful dolphins, I bought three small, slightly soggy paper bowels of recently demised finger mullet gifting both Duo and his other-mate with the tasty tidbits. However, Wufei was not so inclined to be grateful of my generosity, scowling as if to say ‘suck up’ leaving Duo and I to tease and toss at our leisure. It was thrilling to watch him play, his exuberance moving his animated body from here to there as he dangled glass eyed temptations over the glittering surface of the pool and squealed laughingly when one or more of the sleek occupants answered the call. Several children were following his lead as the beasts appeared to be as easily captivated by his joyous light as myself and Wufei but when I turned to assess how our Chinese portion was enjoying the show, his attention was taken and mine suddenly entrapped. To see one of the older mammals, his dorsal scared and heavy with years poking his bottle nose above the surface while Wufei calmly stroked his silvery head took me aback. The boy was unaware of my attention, having allowed the scowl to drift momentarily from his brow in favor of favoring the curious creature leaving in its absence the face of a young man acutely in tune with his world. I was distantly aware of Duo’s gentle presence at my side as I stood gape mouthed and intrigued but could think of nothing to say in response to the odd revelation that Chang Wufei was obviously a great deal more than an accomplished warrior. Duo took the need upon his own shoulders, as he is prone to do and intoned softly at my ear, “Incredible, isn’t he?” It struck me then that yes, perhaps he was and I cursed my historic inability to see the things that had seemed so irrelevant not so long ago. Wufei looked up right then but his gaze bypassed me to light in Duo’s eyes, the expression therein glowing with warm affection and gratitude that until that very morning I had only been able to curiously ponder. It stung while at the same time granting my heart peace in the knowing that he truly cared deeply for our longhaired nucleus. I wanted to see more interaction between them, my heart needing to know the depth of their feelings for each other, so I found reasons to momentarily distance myself from the pair. It wasn’t long before Wufei was comfortably drawn back to his familiar place at Duo’s side, the soft touches to an elbow and intimate smiles leaving me emotionally segregated as we made our way through the coolness of an interior display, the air conditioned halls lying beneath and beside tanks of many sizes in presentation of their wary inhabitants chilling the damp heat on our skin. I stopped to study a particularly interesting Juliet fish, only absently observing the quietly conversing couple behind me in the reflection of the glass when a sudden jolt of electric pain stabbed at the fleshy source of my pulse when Wufei softly leaned in and nibbled upon Duo’s lips. It was instantly clear that Chang’s encroachment on what my mind perceived as the sole property of my heart was not sincerely the cause of my discomfort but the way Duo’s head tilted just so, his mouth nipping in teasing coercion until Wufei could no longer resist and took him in a full and glorious kiss that made me glad we were the only ones present in that particular hall that caused the tingling obscurity in my chest. Duo was apparently very attracted to the Chinese boy, the revelation viciously rendering an emerald imp that had danced unknowingly about my head limb from limb. As the creature screeched its last moaning, piteously mournful in the fading horror of its demise I came to the depressing conclusion that Duo really needed Wufei. Somewhere deep down in the bottom of my wanton desire to have him all to myself I had harbored the hope that Chang would follow his first instinct and eventually remove himself from the equation, but as the day wore on I was forced to accept the fact that should that happen, Duo would be… unhappy. The paradox was real and doubt poked its ugly head from the dank shadows to peer fearfully into the light of this truth. Could I truly be magnanimous and happily accept the situation as is? “Hiiro?” “Hm?” I smiled, glancing around to find Wufei had moved on down the hall a bit in the lapse of my observation. “You’ve been staring at that fish for ten minutes,” he chuckled. The odd tightness in my chest eased when his intricate fingers nuzzled their way between my arm and body, gripping the security of my upper arm. “Sorry,” I smiled; leaning in to steal the kiss Wufei had placed upon his lips. “You ok?” he asked, looking adorably embarrassed. My eyes sought Wufei, noting that he was watching us in the reflection of a scorpion fish’s lair. “A little confused,” I shrugged. “He’s a good guy,” was his natural response and gained a true and heartfelt chuckle from me. “I could believe no less since he has obviously gained your respect.” Puzzlement filled his eyes. “I never realized you held my opinion in such high regard,” he smiled, tilting his head in a way that melted my heart and heated my loins. “There are a great many things I seem to have managed to hide from you,” I replied. “Maybe not so well as you thought,” he grinned, gracing me with a small kiss to the corner of my salivating mouth. Gods how I wanted him! “No longer,” I breathed ,utterly unaware as I drew him close, my hands claiming some small portion of the delights they had been granted the night before as they slid down the gentle slope of his back, my skin tingling excitedly as he slowly bent and shuddered with the intrusion of my tongue. It was pure heaven until the moment was ruined by the loud clearing of a throat and Duo suddenly pulled away. My first reaction was to scald Wufei with a glare but when I saw a small child toddle enthusiastically into view closely followed by his mother, father and two older, slightly apathetic siblings, my annoyance was tempered by gratitude. From the flaming crimson on Duo’s skin at having almost been caught in febrile embrace I shuttered to think what might have occurred should the family have actually seen us kissing. When observed, Wufei’s attention had once again been drawn by the elderly dolphin we had observed above, its head bumping affectionately against the viewing glass that gave we humans a dry peek into their underwater world. “I think she has a crush on you,” I teased, following Duo to his side. “He,” our lover corrected, tapping silently upon the glass with soft fingertips as he revealed, “I think he remembers.” “Hn?” “Wufei rescued him about four months ago when he beached himself on the African coast,” he explained. “He was ill,” Wufei elaborated kindly. “But there was no reason for him to die.” This from a man who murdered for no more reason than his opponents bore weapons? It would seem, perhaps, Chang Wufei had truly gotten past the war. Like myself, he had learned to cherish life… even his own. I wondered how much of this was, as was so often the case for me, due to Duo’s benevolent influence. The thought struck a cord within my mind that resonated in perfect harmony with an earlier revelation. He needed Duo just as much as I did, leaving the ponderous question hanging between me and the sticky remains of the emerald imp. Did Duo really need me? There is a fine line between need and want when the auspicious desires of the human animal are involved. From the way Duo had wantonly lain beneath me, surrendering his body, the offering made without conscious thought, I feared the possibility that the phrase ‘I’ve wanted you for so long’ might have been a prelude to the end. What, exactly, had he longed for? My company, surely, we complimented each other in every favorable way, but did that mean his heart was speared securely to the post? I could feel my future ooze from his pours and see my own face withered and cracked with laugh lines as old as my acquaintance with him in his eyes. What did he see in mine? Surely he knew I wanted forever? “I still say he has a crush,” I smiled, tucking the questions away to be taken out and picked at later when there would be more information to add to the impoverished pot. “Could you blame him?” Duo grinned, further reassuring Wufei that our time together had, in no way, changed how he felt about him. “Not really.” Curiously, the heat on my face was as shocking as the crimson flush on Wufei’s but Duo’s drop-jawed bewilderment had been worth any discomfort, indeed. The remainder of the day went rather predictably. We finished the rounds at Seascapes and stopped at Wufei’s favorite restaurant, Thai of all things, before heading back to their, our place. Once arrived I realized I was still wearing Wufei’s pants, cursing myself for giving them a reason to be alone together while I returned to my ex-apartment to retrieve my things. However, I had taken up all of Duo’s time the night before, belatedly wishing my libido would have allowed for more intimate contact between our brains. However, and to my utter delight, Duo decided to accompany me, leaving Wufei free to drop by the space port and see to the ship he had entrusted to Hackson. “How long did you say you’ve been staying here?” he chuckled, sauntering into the little apartment that had never really been mine. “Since last week,” I replied, slipping into the bathroom to gather what meager supplies I had unpacked in the minimal time I had actually spent in the domicile. “Not exactly homey it is?” “Home is where the heart is,” I countered, flashing a roughish smile as I emerged. He was watching me, cool, calculating eyes sizing me up as if trying to detect the lie but since there wasn’t one I was free to grin unabashedly. “Sorry,” he chuckled, coming into my arms, an event for which I gladly let the amenities in my hands drop to the carpet. “I guess it’s still just a little hard to believe.” “Shall I remind you?” I purred, bending him back slightly to place a suggestive coercion on his lips. “Mmm,” he moaned, so delicious, so enticing… so incredibly arousing. Good intentions flew hastily out the window to fall crashing to the street below and all thoughts of leaving him fresh for Wufei’s arms vanished steamily when he softly breathed, “Yes.” My need for him returned ten fold, a clamoring imperative forcing my hand, which found its amorous journey down the vivacious curvature of his side, over the rounded hip and around a firmly protruding buttock, ludicrously enjoyable. I was so into him by the time his back hit the flaccid surface of the small, spring mattress bed we could have been on the moon for all I cared. “Gods!” he gasped heavily, his arms coming to wrap tightly where they grappled with my head, aiding me in my desire to dance him across the sky. It was quite clear to me that he had never felt the way he did with me with anyone else, though my head knew Wufei was probably the only ‘anyone else’ there had ever been. Even the tiniest, microscopic cells of his body responded in the extreme to my touch. Never had I know such a thrill, not on Earth, among the stars or in the cockpit of the greatest war machine ever conceived. This was the miracle, his need for me, and I saw it shining in his eyes as I laid him bare and crawled inside him. Kindness was my goal at the start as enough of my mind still remained to provide me with a protectiveness that demanded caution. We, as well as Wufei that morning, had over-taxed his body in the last twenty four hours. However, he made it crystal clear that my genial efforts were in no way sufficient, raising his hips teasingly and his voice in rasping, panting moans that begged for deliverance. What was I to do? “Hiiro!” Each shout of my name fed the flame until the small bed screamed rhythmically, its mournful cries synching with Duo’s sweet voice, my own rasping reaching out to weave thickly into the passion that filled the air with its heady spirit. He was mine, inescapably mine and I knew the moment his body arched beneath me there would never be another who could touch him the way I could. There was a moment of sorrow on Wufei’s behalf then I forgot him as I kissed and coddled the trembling body below until his breathing had slowed enough that the elation left behind made him giggle drunkenly. “Sorry,” he chuckled and had his face not already been flushed with ambient heat he would have colored beautifully. “It’s flattering,” I smiled, kissing his pert little nose. “I like being able to steal your sense away.” “You do that all right,” he giggled again, tightening his hold on my hips when I tried to pull away. “You must be sore,” I reasoned. “Stay,” he smiled, relaxing when I acquiesced. “Do you ever…” fell from my mouth before I had time to stop that train from derailing and once said I expected he wouldn’t let it be. “What?” Asked defensively so that I couldn’t simply claim ‘nothing’. “It’s none of my business,” I offered instead. “I suppose I would just like to understand your relationship with Chang better.” The question served to grant me my freedom from his leggy embrace but I wasn’t sure if perhaps the emancipation stopped there until he rolled on his side and awkwardly smiled. “After you left,” he began, making sure to note that it was not before. I smiled. “Everyone went through an adjustment period. Wufei, he had changed so much I could hardly believe he was the same guy I’d met before. The rage was just… gone and there was this vulnerable, intelligent, sexy guy left without another soul in the universe that understood him. I supposed we started hanging out at first just because Quatre and Trowa were spending so much time figuring themselves out and we were all that was left that either of us could readily identify with.” My fault. I had lost my chance for purity of union with him because of my own restlessness. “So, when I decided to move off base…” He had chosen that house? The one with the iron fence? “…he came with me. It was weird,” he chuckled, wiping away an itch on his nose. “I kept feeling his eyes but he never seemed to be looking at me. Then, one night while we were watching the news Relena popped on screen and you became the topic of conversation.” Me?” “I confessed to him that night,” he softly intoned, amethyst eyes shimmering in the shadow of his bangs. My chest hurt a little at the thought until he explained, “I told him I was in love with you.” “Duo?” The word was little more than a breath born on the wings of my soul. He loved me, he had said so. That it had been spoken to Wufei’s ears mattered little to my heart. His smile washed over me in waves of drenching contentment as he offered me a small kiss before concluding, “Then he confessed to me and we spent the next couple of weeks christening the house.” His grin allowed me to take the news in good humor, especially since we, the two of us, had ‘christened the house’ quite liberally only the night before. His smile waned. “He’s become very special to me,” he confessed in a softly affectionate tone. “If you deem him worthy then he has my respect,” I offered, though my respect for Wufei was in no way contingent upon Duo’s point of view. His worth as a lover I had to lean upon Duo’s opinion for, however, and did so with utter confidence. “You really mean that, don’t you?” he asked, laying lazy fingers upon my prickling skin. “You’d rather share me that loose me.” “I would rather share your affection than see you unhappy,” I corrected, kissing him briefly before speaking to his eyes. “Loosing you is not an option.” He shuddered nearly violently and sought the security of my arms, leaving me with a rather large, omnipresent ego trip that threatened to split my head wide open. Wufei had fallen asleep in the living room chair when we returned so we decided that for the moment I would take the couch to ease the presence of my infringement on what had, until my arrival, been Wufei and Duo’s home. The man had been good enough to yield his bed, albeit Duo’s as well, to me on temporary loan and I fully understood the sacrifices he was willing to bear, so as much as I longed to snuggle up to Duo’s warm back and sleep contentedly throughout the night, I laid my body down on the deep couch and made the best of it till dawn. When next my eyes opened it was a certainty that the decision had been well made as Wufei was making breakfast and Duo was doing his best to muck it up. “Ow!” Wufei hissed, singing a finger. “Duo.” “Hn?” “That’s very… distracting.” Our longhaired lover giggled in a way that prompted me to peek into the tiny kitchenette, the sight of him standing behind Wufei with his arms around his waist and his hands buried in the front of his pants brought with it many confused feelings. One, I wanted his hands down my pants. Sullen petulance. Two, Wufei was diligently trying to ignore him but had done nothing whatsoever to remedy his predicament. Skeptical mirth. Three, seeing them so engaged made me want to toss a shoe through the window in order to break them up. Seething jealousy and four, they were seriously turning me on. Utter confusion. I froze, wanting nothing more in that moment that to see the scene in the kitchen progress and suddenly those little, white pants Wufei is so fond of took on an entirely different nuance in my mind. I could see what Duo saw in him. Wide shoulders supporting well defined, sculpted musculature over a readily desirably frame. His hair was down, softening his features even more than the gentle affection on his face and Duo had worked him well enough for me to see very easily he was more than adequately equipped. Now, if they would just move to the right a bit. “Duo.” There was less humor in the calling of his name. My pulse raced. “Stop being so stubborn,” Duo chided, coercively using nimble fingers, quality of tone and firmly thrusting hips to argue his case. Wait. Back up. Was Duo dominant in their relationship? Good lord! My crotch ached just thinking about it. “I’m trying to cook,” Wufei breathed but I noticed his knees had locked and his rather bulbous rear end was slowly presenting itself. The heat was incredible but I didn’t dare loose the blanket for fear of disturbing them. “Go ahead,” Duo urged, pushing his pants slowly down his hips, their stark contrast revealing golden flesh one inch at a time. “I can’t with you doing that.” “Sure you can,” he insisted, gripping Wufei’s shoulder and I had to bite the pillow to keep from groaning right along with him when he slowly but steadily entered him. No wonder he was holding up better than I thought he would. If I was the only one loving him internally then he had had a good deal more time to recuperate that I had thought. This shed a new light on the situation, one that was quickly bringing me to full erection as the knowledge that I was not sharing Duo in the way I thought I had been settled in my mind. It was possible that they traded the roll, as I myself hoped to do from time to time, but knowing myself well enough made me believe that this was the norm whatever they might occasionally try in difference and I desperately wanted to play. But Wufei. No, he would react… badly. Then there was the question of should I pursue such desires. Wufei was, for the most part, a stranger to me. We had fought together, even against each other but both of us being standoffish and filled with rage during most of the time we had spent together left little room for camaraderie. As it stood, there was no denying that my lurid craving was based solely upon his elegant beauty. However, I was left with a burning desire to rectify that small oversight as I watched Duo nail him to the stove, the heat of the fires leaving Wufei dripping and crimson as Duo quickly drove them both recklessly over the edge. “You should show more control,” Wufei commented in heavy breath as he was released. “We’re not alone in the house anymore.” “Which is exactly why I’m having trouble with control,” Duo chuckled, tempering the statement with a gentle kiss before he softly offered, “Thank you. For not walking away.” “I love you,” was offered without the slightest hesitation. “I’ll stay as long as you’ll have me.” “You know I don’t want to hurt you…” Duo began but was stalled by soft fingertips upon his lips. “I know,” Wufei smiled. “I haven’t forgotten.” Duo’s confession of love…for me. “It doesn’t change how I feel about you,” Duo assured him but Wufei seemed uncertain. “We’ll see,” he shrugged, pulling away to check the stove. Duo shook his head then kissed the back of Wufei’s. “I’m gong to wash up.” “This will be ready in about twenty minutes.” It was going to get cold again. “Whoa!” Duo gasped, laughing happily when I snagged him as he went by and dragged him down on top of me. “Morning!” he chirped but his eyes widened alarmingly when I crushed my hungry hips upward into his ass. “That was so fucking hot!” I hissed, unable to keep my voyeurism covert as my need pressed adamantly outward in its craving to be inside his heat. “You watched?” he grinned, grinding against my crushing and all at once I was stealing his breath, his sanity and his clothes. Wufei was not forgotten, I knew he had heard Duo cry out when I snared him but some perversion had awoken in my mind that screamed ‘an eye for an eye.’ If he wanted to watch, so be it. If not, he could go hide in the bedroom or something. I needed release that Duo was hungry to grant. His eyes shifted guiltily toward the kitchen door when Wufei peered out to observe us but my quick thrust claimed his attention and all at once his eyes rolled back and a sound of monumental ecstasy escaped his throat and I knew he was just as hot because of Wufei’s gaze as I was. I wanted him to see, to watch what it was I could provide and understand how it differed from what they shared together. I was also totally getting off on it and wailed into Duo with complete abandon. It was over rather quickly, his having already been primed and my overheated beginning dropped us in a sated puddle almost before we’d begun and I saw Wufei slip back into the kitchen without a word before grinning like hell and squeezing Duo dangerously tight. “Air!” he choked. “Sorry,” I laughed, relenting to a firm embrace before I kissed him. “Hiiro?” “Hm?” “Damn,” he groaned and I realized I was once again thrusting into his hips. “Wanna go again?” I grinned, feeling my vigor return. “Geez,” he chuckled. “What kind of vitamins do you take?” “Once more,” I begged, drawing him down to kiss him as my free hand slid down his back and pressed him firmly on my hips. Happily he was willing to patronize me until I realized that all sound had ceased in the kitchen and Wufei was probably sitting in there waiting for us to settle, essentially trapped. “Let’s wash up,” I suggested, grinning arrogantly as I sat up, stood and carried him still wrapped firmly around me as he gaped and giggled along the way. He granted me the few minutes it took to come full circle again and I managed to coerce him into joining me, bringing his score to three for the morning alone. He was going to need fluids, so as soon as we were rid of the sticky residue I ushered him back toward the kitchen where Wufei had thoughtfully placed our meals in the oven before he left. “I suppose my behavior was a tad insensitive,” I reasoned, unhappy with Duo’s sullen guilt. “It’s only because it’s fresh,” he sighed, avoiding his meal with practiced precision. “When he and I first started having sex we were at it morning, noon and night for a solid two weeks. He and I are used to each other so it’s not so… urgent.” I vowed then and there to make sure he never got used to me. The remainder of the morning was spent pleasantly working alongside my new mate. He took me down the street and introduced me to Darma, a very hospitable woman with buck teeth and a motherly, rotund face. She was delighted to show me how her washing machines worked, making it quite clear that the dryers were for clothing only. Not cats, rocks or the skinny bodies of adventurous teenage boys, whereupon I assured her that I had no interest in hyperthermia and she left us to our chore to go look up the word. It was pleasant to simply be near him again. I hadn’t realized how much I longed for his presence, though since I had regained such it was a wonder to me how I could ever have misunderstood the contentment I felt by his side. We did what little laundry I had, along with the clothes he had worn recently and some of Wufei’s, ie: the pants I had borrowed then dropped them off and went out to lunch.
