Ch 6 They took a shower together and explored their new found boundaries again before they gathered the rest of their team. Duo took them in a smooth arch ultimately headed for the large volcano on the horizon stopping briefly at the Eastman warehouse to collect the charges then headed for St. Helen’s shaft. They made a quick stop at the warehouse to pick up the charges then Duo led them out of the city and over a short expanse of cracked plains that looked to be the cooled crust of a magma field. The heat was so intense they were forced to stay fairly high until the ground turned to something a little more like solid stone and Duo took them down into some caves on the other side. They navigated the narrowing passages for a few minutes before they suddenly opened into a huge cavern. On one side were massive machines that appeared to be ventilators of some sort. On the other were more passages that stretched off in all directions and a lava flow about a hundred meters across slowly crawled by. Right in the middle was a huge opening that went straight down to the center of the planet. A low rail had been erected around it and that’s where Duo parked and left the speeder. ‘Duo!’ a tall and impossibly skinny man with a big nose and five inch thick glasses barked as he walked through one of the archways. ‘Hey, Frank,’ the braided boy greeted. ‘How’s tricks?’ ‘Number four main collapsed,’ the man told him dazedly as he walked up and stood dumbly before the boy and smiled like an idiot. ‘Yeah, I heard,’ Duo replied. ‘Umm, Frank,’ he said, indicating he’d like to move forward. The man snorted and moved aside grinning stupidly. ‘Did you come to fix it?’ Frank asked, all but skipping beside the boy to keep up. It wasn’t that his long legs wouldn’t do the job; he just seemed a little over excited for some reason. ‘Yeppers,’ Duo sang then stopped suddenly and reached out to take the man by the shoulders, stopping his bouncing. ‘Chill,’ he told him. ‘Focuuuus,’ he said slowly, looking him in the eyes. When he seemed to have gotten himself under control the braided boy let him go. ‘I love you,’ the man said stupidly. Duo’s head dropped. ‘Don’t start, Frank,’ he told him as Hiiro and Wufei snickered silently behind him. ‘But I do!’ the man insisted, scooting along beside him. ‘Tell me about number four,’ Duo ordered as they came around the edge of the railing and went down some steps to the edge of the huge shaft. Hiiro stepped back quickly when he got a look into the depths of the thing. The ventilators kept the gasses and smoke from rising which meant you could see straight down into the bowels of hell. It was a religious experience. Frank spent the next five minutes spouting things Hiiro had absolutely no clue what meant - what the hell was thermal nitro calerhamolic hypertention? - while Duo dug around in a store room near the edge of the shaft wall. Finally the braided boy stepped out wearing a climber’s harness and tossed the same gear to his teammates. Hiiro’s eyes shot open as he caught the lengths of rope and metal spikes and looked from Duo to the shaft and back to Duo again, desperately hoping he wasn’t thinking what he thought he was thinking. ‘Frank!’ Duo barked at the tall, thin man. ‘In English.’ Frank smiled at him stupidly and replied. ‘Number four main collapsed.’ ‘Thanks, Frank,’ Duo sighed, going to help Hiiro with his harness. ‘Would you go out with me?’ the man asked dumbly from behind the braided boy as he spent a little extra time making sure Hiiro’s crotch strap was secure. Duo looked up and grinned at Hiiro. ‘You know I don’t date guys,’ he replied as he winked at the Japanese boy. Hiiro had to suck in his lips to keep from giggling. Wufei didn’t do as well and had to stifle his laugh. Quatre, on the other hand, was openly chuckling as Trowa jerked on his harness and jostled his whole body. ‘I could get a sex change,’ the man offered, smiling stupidly. Duo rolled his eyes and went to check the others. Once satisfied that everyone was secure he turned to Trowa. ‘Tie off to goldie here,’ he told him with an affectionate pat on the blond boy’s head. ‘Don’t let him fall; it’s a one way trip. Fei, you’re with Hiiro.’ ‘What about you?’ Hiiro asked. ‘I don’t tie off,’ Duo told him passively as he hooked his drop line on the permanent hitch near the edge. Hiiro was just about to protest his decision when the boy suddenly dove into the shaft head first. ‘DUO!’ Hiiro shouted, running to the edge and looking down. The braided boy soared out in a perfect swan dive until he’d almost reached the center of the shaft then turned his body until he was facing up and took hold of the rope that was freely sliding through his harness putting pressure on the cord to slow his descent. The tension drew him back toward the side of the shaft and he was soon safely repelling down the wall. ‘Jesus,’ Hiiro whispered, trying to push his heart back down in his chest. Trowa walked over and put his hand on his shoulder, leaning down close to his ear to whisper something to him. Hiiro’s eyes widened a little then he nodded softly and watched as the tall boy hooked up and dropped over the edge with Quatre close behind, though the blond boy climbed gently over and smiled at him a bit sheepishly before he slowly disappeared. Hiiro sat and thought for a moment before a broad grin spread across his lips and he shook his head. He stood up and tied off then turned to the tall thin man that stood staring stupidly at him. ‘Later, Frank,’ he said as he took two steps and launched himself into the shaft. Duo started when the Japanese boy dropped down beside him. ‘Geez!’ he barked. ‘Where in the hell’d you come from?’ ‘Slick trick,’ Hiiro grinned. Duo looked up and saw the other boys all repelling some five hundred feet above before his eyes widened then narrowed over a knowing grin as he began to step down the wall again. ‘Shit, you’re as crazy as I am,’ he chuckled. ‘Hey, I wouldn’t go that far,’ Hiiro chuckled, keeping the pace. ‘Isn’t there anything you’re afraid of?’ he chuckled. ‘Sure,’ Duo replied, tying off a new line. Hiiro’s brow went up as he set a new spike. ‘What?’ he asked. ‘You,’ the braided boy answered, pushing off and repelling twenty feet at a time down the wall. Hiiro watched him go, unable to follow until he’d finished securing the spike and wondering just exactly what he had meant by that remark. He really didn’t dare let himself believe what he wanted it to mean but... By the time he’d caught up, Duo was swinging into a large hole in the side of the shaft. Hiiro followed to find himself in an antechamber that appeared to lead down into the depths of the mountain. There were several openings leading straight down and off at odd angles. One of which led into another chamber some distance beneath them. Duo groaned as he lay on the stone floor and looked down into the second chamber. ‘Lava dogs,’ he moaned, rolling over on his back. Hiiro sat down next to him and looked over into the pit to see the five feet long creatures milling about. ‘Ahh, I hate lava dogs’ Duo spat rolling back over to look again. ‘Where in the hell’s Wufei when ya need’im?’ he groused, pulling his blaster and checking the beam. Hiiro raised a brow and grinned. ‘You’re scared of lava dogs?’ ‘Naw, they just creep me out,’ Duo corrected, aiming at one of the creatures and firing. The beast jerked then lay still, oozing sticky green fluid all over the stone floor. ‘They’re just lizards,’ Hiiro reasoned, drawing the blaster Duo had equipped him with at the weapons warehouse. ‘They’re,’ Duo ground out, firing at another. ‘Slimy,’ he finished, crinkling his nose up in distaste. Hiiro chuckled, firing on another of the beasts. ‘They’re kinda cute,’ he teased. ‘You’re one sick puppy,’ Duo admonished. ‘They spit,’ he told him, shuddering at the very thought. Hiiro chuckled again then leaned over and smiled down at him. ‘I’ve been known to spit,’ he smiled seductively. Duo grinned. ‘Yeah, but your venom doesn’t peel your skin off,’ he countered as Hiiro closed the gap and kissed him. ‘Not hot enough for you?’ Wufei’s voice broke through the fog that was quickly overtaking the two boys. ‘Where in the hell were you?’ Duo admonished. ‘Climbing up Satan’s ass,’ Wufei retorted. ‘Why?’ he asked suddenly as he took in the blasters in the boys’ hands. ‘Lava dogs were your detail on this little picnic, weren’t they?’ Duo asked. Wufei walked over and peered down into the hole. ‘Shit, did you kill em all did you?’ ‘Hell, I don’t know,’ Duo growled. ‘Go down there and find out!’ Wufei grinned then bent down and kissed him briefly. ‘Save me some,’ he told him then disappeared down the hole feet first. ‘Something wrong?’ Trowa asked as he helped Quatre unhook. ‘Lava dog’s,’ Duo sighed. ‘Fei’s making sushi out of ‘em. You guys ok?’ he asked. They both nodded their heads. ‘They spit,’ Hiiro told them, grinning at Duo who chuckled and pulled him down for another kiss. ‘Clear,’ Wufei called from below, signaling they could descend. They discovered they’d killed all but two of the creatures with the blasters when they got there since the last two had been cleanly decapitated by the Chinese boy’s blade. ‘Shit, they’re nesting,’ Duo cursed, crushing a nest full of newly laid eggs with a rock. ‘That means they were right about the rookery being flooded. Damn.’ For the next two hours Duo led them deeper into the bowels of the mountain. The heat became stifling even with the ventilators after awhile. They were dripping with sweat both from the difficult climbs and long repels as well as the volcanic heat by the time they made it to the blockage depth. The last chamber was a massive cavern that was blocked off on one side by what looked to be a gargantuan land slide. There were small rivers of molten lava seeping out of the rock wall that converged into larger streams on the cavern floor and ran down a huge passageway that looked to be the number four main Frank had been talking about. The land slide pulsed with heat. Hiiro had no clue how the hell they were supposed to get close enough to it to set the charges. They’d be barbeque before they could even get close. Not to mention the toxic fumes and gases hissing from between the glowering boulders in the blockage. Duo stopped at the entrance, turning and laying his back against the wall as the sweat dripped down his cheeks. ‘Lava dog’s,’ he sighed dejectedly. The floor of the cavern was littered with hundreds of the slippery creatures. Hiiro watched in amazement as they slithered across the rocks, slipping in and out of the molten streams as if they were nothing more than a lazy river. Duo pulled his pack off and dug through it, wiping the sweat from his eyes again. He drew out a short metal shaft about an inch thick and two feet long with what looked like bicycle peddles with straps on either end and tossed it to Trowa. ‘Ever seen a hover rod before?’ Trowa shook his head. Duo pulled out another one and slipped it on over his shoes then stood up and tapped a button on the center of the shaft. The rod hummed and pushed him several inches off the ground. ‘It’ll take ya a good ten feet off the ground, enough to keep from getting fried with a shield,’ he explained tossing him one of the small metal disks he was holding. Trowa mimicked him and fastened the disk to his belt. ‘Turn it clockwise to activate it, counter to shut it off.’ Duo showed him by activating the shield which hummed to life, casting a soft blue glow around his body before he turned it back off. ‘It’s only a heat shield though. It ain’t gonna do shit against lava dog spit or flying magma or rocks so don’t count on it too much.’ ‘You got another one of those?’ Hiiro asked him. ‘Wouldn’t matter,’ Duo told him. ‘They’re a bitch to fly, takes a lot of practice and damn good balance. Next time; I promise,’ he grinned at the disappointed look in Hiiro’s eyes. He reached back into the bag and pulled out two smaller sacks full of thermal detonators handing one to Trowa as he powered up the hover rod and rose into the air. ‘I’ll take the right side. Start at the top and set one every hundred feet or so. You should have plenty. Do not! I mean DO NOT drop them. If they roll into that magma flow they’ll detonate instantly and that’ll put a real quick end to this little party, ok?’ Trowa nodded as Duo turned and snagged Hiiro for a long deep kiss. Trowa did the same with Quatre while the braided boy showed Wufei some love then turned and glided out into the main chamber with Trowa in tow. It was a trick to avoid the odd projectile from the lava dogs but they made it through fairly quickly and began the climb to the top of the molten wall. Duo was dripping with sweat so badly he could hardly see by the time he’d reached the summit. It was a great comfort to see that Trowa had taken to the hover rod even faster than he’d expected. The taller boy actually beat him to the top and was already laying charges. It took a little longer than he’d calculated because of the lack of decent ledges to sit the charges on but they weren’t doing too badly. At least until Quatre screamed. Duo saw it all in slow motion. Trowa’s head jerked up, his long fingers losing their grip on the detonator in his hand as the blond boy’s wailing cry reverberated off the walls of the cavern. The braided boy’s eyes widened as he screamed ‘NOOO!’ and started for the small metal ball but he knew he wasn’t gonna make it and veered off snagging Trowa as he went by and dragging him as fast as the rod would carry them towards the exit. They were half way there when the charge went off, blowing them out of the air and sending them tumbling to the stone floor among the lava dogs who hissed and spit and ran in all directions from the boys and the blast. ‘DUO!’ Hiiro shouted, darting out into the cave, blasting lava dogs left and right as he ran full out toward his fallen lover. Trowa had rolled to his feet and was headed for him as well. Wufei hung back cradling Quatre in his arms. One of the damn creatures had slithered up behind them in the tunnel and spit its venom on the blond boys left calf. They’d managed to rip the cloth away before it ate all the way through but he was still badly burned and in a lot of pain. Hiiro blasted another dog then jumped the small flow of lava between him and his lover. ‘Duo!’ he shouted again, gathering the boy in his arms. ‘Trowa,’ Duo rasped. ‘He’s here,’ Hiiro told him as the tall boy arrived and he blasted another of the vile creatures that was aiming for them. ‘Busted rib,’ Duo grunted. ‘Maybe two.’ Hiiro grimaced and blew off another lizard’s head. ‘Get me up,’ the long haired boy groaned. ‘Stay still,’ Hiiro told him. ‘And what?’ Duo chortled then groaned from the pain it caused. ‘Get me up,’ he repeated, trying to sit up. Hiiro looked around helplessly then let Trowa help him bring him to his feet. ‘What happened?’ the tall boy asked, glancing back at the exit. ‘He’s hurt but he’ll live,’ Hiiro explained. ‘One of those son’a bitches,’ he growled, blowing another dog’s head off. ‘Ahh, shit!’ Duo gasped, holding his side. Hiiro tried to support him better. They all turned suddenly as the rock wall groaned and a boulder the size of a small car shot out of the center of it half way across the cavern, crashing into the magma flow and sending a shower of molten rock against the far wall. ‘Shit,’ was the universal thought. ‘Get him out of here,’ Hiiro told the tall boy, pushing him at Trowa. ‘No,’ Duo tried to argue but Hiiro was already putting him in Trowa’s arms. ‘I’m right behind you,’ he reassured Duo, kissing him briefly before Trowa lifted off and carried him toward the exit. He made it back just after them to find Duo laying on the floor with Wufei wrapping strips of his torn pants around his rib cage. Trowa had Quatre lying against his chest with his injured leg lying out before him. ‘Pack,’ Duo groaned at Hiiro when he saw him. The Japanese boy grabbed the bag and brought it to him. ‘Inside… sulfur... silver…’ Duo rasped, cringing as his words made his chest move. ‘He can’t heal you,’ Hiiro reasoned. ‘He’s injured.’ ‘Heal... himself,’ Duo breathed painfully. Hiiro found the ingredients for the spell but only knelt staring hopelessly at his long haired lover. ‘He... can’t heal himself,’ he told him. ‘His spells don’t work that way.’ ‘You can…reflect,’ Duo gasped. ‘What?’ Hiiro breathed, not quite comprehending for a moment then it hit him full force and his head snapped around. ‘Will that work?’ ‘No… stupid ...questions,’ the braided boy groaned, rolling his eyes. ‘Hurts,’ he added, reminding him that every word was expensive at this point. ‘Quatre?’ Hiiro went to the blond boy. He was drenched in sweat and clearly in a great deal of pain. His leg had turned beet red and was beginning to fester into large blisters as he lay panting against Trowa’s chest. ‘Quatre, can you do this?’ Hiiro asked. ‘Can you heal yourself if I help you?’ The blond boy cringed and squeezed his eyes shut, pulling Trowa’s arms around him tighter as he shook his head and began to cry. ‘He feels... your doubt …make…. him…. believe,’ Duo hissed. ‘Quatre,’ Hiiro said a little louder. ‘Come on baby, come back to us,’ he encouraged, touching his face. ‘We need your help.’ Hiiro’s eyes glanced at Trowa uncertainly. The tall boy nodded gently and tightened his hold as Hiiro leaned down and kissed the blond boy’s lips. When he pulled back Quatre’s eyes were open and he was looking right into Hiiro’s. ‘Duo said you can do this,’ the Japanese boy told him. ‘I know you can do this,’ he said softly, kissing him sweetly again. When he pulled away Quatre hiccoughed quietly but the fire of determination was in his eyes. ‘Dust my leg,’ Quatre hissed, pulling Trowa’s arms tighter around him. The tall boy leaned down and began whispering something in his lover’s ear that instantly soothed him as Hiiro did as he was told. ‘The silver,’ Quatre held out his hand and Hiiro wrapped the silver medallion around his fingers. ‘I need to feed,’ the blond whispered weakly. ‘What?’ Hiiro asked, leaning down closer to his mouth so he could hear better. ‘High ... emotions,’ Duo interjected. ‘…needs...’ ‘Shhhh,’ Hiiro soothed his lover. ‘I understand,’ he told him and Duo nodded. He turned back to the blond boy and his lover and looked Trowa in the eye again. ‘Trowa, I’m sorry…’ he began but the tall boy cut him off. ‘Heal him,’ he said then returned to his whispered vigil at Quatre’s ear. Hiiro looked down at the slight blond boy and let the swell of emotions he’d been keeping in check flow through him again. He hadn’t realized how much he’d missed the little blond. He was really looking forward to this even under these circumstances. He licked his lips then leaned down and kissed him slowly and the world softly slipped away. Quatre’s lips were sweet and gentle and so damn receptive as he drank him in. He let his heart open up and reach out to envelope the boy, his love for his friend and recent lover washing over them both. The others watched as the two began to glow faintly and the silver in Quatre’s hand sang its eerie song. Trowa kept a tight hold on his lover, never ceasing his whispering as Hiiro poured him full of every ounce of love and passion he felt for the slight blond. Quatre moaned softly and pulled Hiiro down between his legs pushing his hips into him as the Japanese boy pressed against him. First the blond would pulse with light then Hiiro would mirror it then the boy’s leg would glow and heal somewhat. The better the leg got the louder the blond boy moaned and the hotter Hiiro felt his body growing. Before long, Quatre’s leg was all but well and he was sliding down Trowa’s chest so he could get further under the Japanese boy as he began to disrobe him. ‘Damn… wait,’ Hiiro gasped, still devouring the sweet blond boy’s mouth. ‘Y...you’ve gotta …heal Duo,’ he reminded him, doing his best to pull away. ‘Hm?’ Quatre groaned dazedly, trying to pull him back down but Trowa laid his hand on his hair and he came back to reality and sat up. A moment later he was scooting across the floor and looking down into Duo’s pale face. ‘You…k?’ Duo whispered. ‘Shhh,’ Quatre smiled. ‘It’s not healed but I can walk. Thank you,’ he told him, then kissed the corner of his mouth affectionately. ‘I can’t mend your bones fully down here, but I can get you mobile.’ ‘That’ll…do,’ Duo grinned. Quatre took the sulfur and sprinkled it over the bruises on the boy’s ribs then held up the silver and began the spell. About the time his eyes started to glow another boulder popped loose and went sailing across the cavern, smashing into the wall and rolling across the floor. The blond boy stared at it in shock for a moment then quickly turned back to his task. It took three times longer than Duo had expected to make the ascent even with the hover rods to help with the vertical climbs. By the time they made it back up to the main shaft they could hear the very mountain itself groaning beneath their feet. The braided boy had planned for the detonations to go off six hours after they had been set but it was obvious the volatile condition of the blockage was causing the charges to fall into the lava and detonate prematurely. Things were really starting to heat up as they began the final climb back up the sheer wall of the main shaft. The hover rods were useless here with nothing to push off of so they were forced to do it the old fashioned way. Duo had Trowa and Quatre tie off together the same as on the way down but he refused to let Hiiro hook up with him, insisting that the Japanese boy and Wufei team up. Hiiro had flat out refused to take another step unless they all three hooked up together and Duo was finally forced to give in. Quatre went first as his leg would slow him down and make the climb hard and dangerous for him. Trowa moved along behind him, patiently letting him take his time and check his grips twice. Wufei was next with Duo and Hiiro right behind him. Duo couldn’t hold onto the cliff wall that well with his ribs so Hiiro had him in a tandem hold, crouching over his body and holding him to the wall by sheer force of brute strength. Every now and then they’d feel a tremor signaling the detonation of another of the charges and pause. After a moment with no magma shooting up their asses, they resumed their climb. They were about two hundred feet from the top when the big one hit and they knew the blockage had blown. The mountain shook with rage as the magma pushed its way through the catacombs beneath them, shaking stones loose from the walls and watched in horror as one of the larger rocks hit Quatre on the shoulder, knocking him from the wall. ‘QAUTRE!’ Duo howled, his violet eyes dancing with an insanity that scared Hiiro half out of his mind as he tried to wrench out of Hiiro’s arms. Trowa steeled himself and was ready when the safety rope pulled tight, staying the blond boy’s fall. Quatre’s thin body jerked when he ran out of rope and slammed into the wall, knocking him unconscious. He dangled helplessly on the end of the rope, his entire weight pulling at his tall lover as the magma suddenly spewed from the hole in the wall of the shaft where they’d climbed into the mountain and rose from the bottom of the shaft. They watched as Trowa pulled his lover up one arm length at a time as the magma rose ever higher. It was still a good way down but there was no comfort zone. Quatre was five feet from his lover when the safety rope slipped through his belt and let him fall another three feet before it caught again. Duo screeched the boy’s name again and nailed Hiiro in the ribs with his elbow when he refused to release him and let him go to them but the Japanese boy still wouldn’t relent and held him fast. A moment later the rope gave way and the blond boy fell. All at once the world was moving in slow motion. Quatre’s body plummeted toward the lava for a fraction of a second as Duo once again screamed his name and tried to free himself from Hiiro’s steely grip. A moment later Trowa let go of the wall and a new rope hit Hiiro in the face. He looked up to see Wufei wrapping a hand in the new rope and Frank waving frantically from the edge of the shaft. He didn’t take the time to look back down as he wrapped the rope around his right arm and his left arm around Duo. Wufei waved at Frank and suddenly they were rocketing upward. Hiiro could feel the heat of the magma hot on their heels as they crested the lip of the shaft and were hauled by the wench Frank had used to bring them up into a pile on the rocky ledge. They just had time to sit up and look when the first wave of gases and soot burst from the shaft, spraying the cavern with hot ash and sparks. A moment later the second wave hit, a thicker, heavy smoke that would precede the surface of the molten rock and with it two thin figures rocketing skyward as Trowa used the hover rod to ride the wave out of the mouth of hell. He clutched his slight lover in his arms tightly as they soared across the cavern propelled by the massive force of the rising magma and bounced off the far wall, breaking them apart as they crashed to the floor. Trowa only lay still for a moment before he was crawling swiftly over to his unconscious lover and gathering him in his arms again. Hiiro was on his feet in an instant, leaving Duo to Wufei’s care as he ran over to check on his friends. They were both beat up and had some pretty bad burns but all in all they looked pretty good, considering. Quatre was still unconscious but he was breathing. He breathed a deep sigh of relief and walked back over to the edge of the shaft, looking down into it as the magma stilled and resumed its level about two hundred feet down. They’d done it and made it out alive! The Japanese boy had never felt more alive in his life. He wanted to shout for joy. He wanted to dance on air or do a jig or something as he stood there grinning from ear to ear. He turned around to find Duo standing behind him and smiled at him just before the long haired boy’s fist connected violently with his jaw, sending him crashing back into the control panel behind him. ‘WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE!?’ Duo growled, advancing on him again. Hiiro shook his head and tried to gather his thoughts. What the hell? He looked up at his irate lover and saw nothing but pure rage in his glittering amethyst eyes. ‘What in the hell did I do?’ he gasped, not bothering to rise to his feet. ‘You said you trusted me!’ Duo bellowed, his eyes spitting a fire much more frightening that anything he’d faced under the mountain. ‘I do!’ Hiiro insisted. He was starting to get a little miffed. What could he have possibly done to deserve this? ‘With your life but not my own is that it?!’ Duo barked. Hiiro got to his feet and faced him down. It was clear to him now what his lover was upset about. He hadn’t let him go to Quatre down in the shaft. ‘You would have died!’ he growled defiantly. ‘What right have you to decide when it’s a good day for me to die!?’ the braided boy yelled. ‘It’s my life,’ he added backing away into Wufei’s waiting arms as he held his ribs. ‘I decide what it’s worth!’ he rasped as he collapsed to his knees. Hiiro took a step forward wanting to help but he flashed him a look so filled with vehement rage that he backed off again. He didn’t understand really. All he wanted to do was make sure Duo made it out of there alive. Did he not realize how much he meant to him? That there was just no way he could just step aside and let him die if he could stop it? He got his answer as Duo bent over his knees and coughed up blood then wiped his mouth and said softly, ‘I could have saved him.’ It was at that moment Hiiro realized that what he’d truly done was assume Duo would fail. He’d stopped him because he didn’t believe he could complete the task. He hadn’t trusted his own self judgement. He hadn’t trusted Duo.
