Ch 22 Duo ran his hand through Hiiro’s dark brown hair as the Japanese boy nibbled Wufei into a coma on his lap. He couldn’t take his eyes off the divine image of his other two lovers piled up on that big red pillow. It made a lot more sense now why they were so comfortable with all the attention. They’d had centuries to become accustomed to it. He was still contemplating them when Hiiro rolled off his lap and took him by the hand. ‘Let’s turn in,’ the Japanese boy suggested, pulling him to his feet. Duo let him draw him in and kiss him softly as Wufei gathered their things then followed them to their room. ‘You think we should do it?’ the braided boy asked as Hiiro slipped his broach off and let it tumble to the floor. ‘Mmm, what?’ Hiiro hummed. He was a little preoccupied with the taut skin on Duo’s chest and stomach as he kissed his way down his body and Wufei slipped out of his clothes behind him. ‘The whole forever gig,’ Duo sighed, burying his hands in Hiiro’s hair as he neared the more delicate parts of his anatomy. ‘Let’s wait and see if we survive tomorrow before we worry about it, ok?’ Wufei suggested, moving in behind the longhaired boy as he sighed deeply under Hiiro’s tender ministrations. ‘Mmmm,’ Duo sighed again as Hiiro stood back up and guided them toward the bed. He’d just laid Duo back into a deep kiss when Quatre’s soft knock sounded on the door. ‘Something wrong?’ Wufei asked from his place on the bed beside Duo. Hiiro apparently had no intention of relinquishing Duo’s mouth for the sake of speech. ‘We were just wondering,’ the blond boy smiled as he and Trowa stepped into the room. ‘There’s a place in the mountain where we could go,’ he smiled as a soft blush rose to his cheeks. ‘Go?’ Duo breathed, turning so Hiiro was left with his neck and ear instead of his mouth. It didn’t seem to bother him much though as he just kept right on nibbling. ‘Together,’ Quatre elaborated. ‘All of us?’ Hiiro breathed as the heat in his body suddenly surged at the thought. ‘Will we come out… you know... permanent additions?’ Duo asked. ‘Only if you want to,’ Trowa assured them. ‘Rashid told us what you know. This is a sacred place where Quatre and his sisters were first empowered. It’s capable of stabilizing the energy flow so we can… experience each other.’ ‘You mean if we go there we can get together without me and Quatre frying our collective cortex,’ Duo elaborated. Trowa chuckled. ‘That’s the general idea, yes,’ he replied, pulling his smiling lover into his arms. ‘Sounds risky,’ Wufei reasoned. ‘Sounds kinky as hell,’ Duo grinned. ‘Sounds like a damn fine idea to me,’ Hiiro growled, jerking Duo and his Chinese lover from the bed. ‘Where to?’ he asked, tossing Wufei’s pants at him. Quatre led them through a maze of tunnels and cliff side roads that took them far into the mountain and high above the low lying clouds. It took awhile to get there and by the time they entered the large antechamber it was very dark outside. The blond boy coaxed a couple of passing firebirds into lighting the large torches that surrounded the upper level of the cave, revealing a simple bowl shaped dais in the center of the room. There seemed to be nothing else in the place. No stairs or thrones, furniture or doors or steps of any kind, just rock walls and the curved indentation in the center of the room. They watched as Quatre walked across the stone floor, stripping himself of his clothes as he went and stepped naked into the center of the dais which proved to be soft in spite of its stone like appearance. Duo was reminded of the altar on Aiken when the blond boy offered him his hand and bade him join him. The table on China Seti II had felt much the same way as well. ‘Quatre,’ Duo said softly, unsure of this place. He could feel the power undulating beneath his feet. It was like ten thousand Quatre’s all buried under the mountain, just begging to get out. ‘Shhh,’ the blond boy soothed, reaching out to touch his face. ‘Nothing will happen unless you want it to,’ he reassured him. ‘There are many wonders in this universe you have yet to experience. I’ve been waiting for you for a very long time,’ he smiled softly as he touched their lips together. ‘This is where you belong,’ he whispered, thumbing the broach at his neck loose and tossing it on the floor. Duo felt the heat beginning to build, the pure, raw power under his feet pushing up, reaching for him as the dais began to shimmer. His hand slipped slowly up the blond boy’s sides as he kissed him softly, letting the energy build between them. Something tickled the back of his mind in the swell, something so titillating, sweet and familiar it took his breath away. ‘Hiiro,’ he whispered, recognizing the presence of his lover in his heart. ‘Yesss,’ Quatre hissed softly drawing him nearer. ‘Call him to you,’ he encouraged as Hiiro’s broach hit the floor and he stepped into the light that was now rising from the dais toward the open ceiling. ‘Fei,’ Duo breathed the moment Hiiro’s hands touched him but the call was hardly necessary. Wufei was already well on his way. Hiiro drew him into the embrace and kissed him gently, turning to offer the same to Duo while Wufei tasted Quatre’s sweet lips. Hands brushed hair and skin and souls as they melded together, drawing the very spirit of the planet up and into their blond lover until his entire body glowed like hot metal. ‘Trowa?’ Duo whispered, wanting to complete the circle but the tall boy held his ground. He’d prepared and stood bare next to the dais but refused to step in as the light began to crackle with life. The braided boy was getting a little nervous and pulled back from the tender kisses and gentle caresses his fellows were offering him to look around. The room resembled the bottom of a pool where the sunlight shines down through the water and casts the refracted rays in intricate patterns along the bottom. Light was dancing all over the walls projecting patterns he almost recognized but couldn’t quite make out. Was that... Aiken? The alter on Aiken? Or was it his imagination? ‘Duo,’ Quatre gasped as his skin flared bright gold. ‘Please,’ he begged again as the braided boy stared at him in shock. He looked like liquid gold moving and spinning in the form of a beautiful human boy. His need to claim him overwhelmed him and a moment later he snatched him tight and kissed him. The built up energy flared white hot as Duo’s presence amplified it a hundred times, driving both of them to their knees but neither would yield and release the other. Quatre began to shake violently as Duo laid him down, intent on taking him even though Hiiro and Wufei were clearly concerned for the blond boy’s welfare. ‘Leave them,’ Trowa’s even tone instructed from outside the circle. ‘But he’s...’ Hiiro began but his words were cut off by what his eyes saw. The walls of the room were morphing in and out of phase. In one fifth was the alter on Aiken, in another the table of the Draconian clan. A glance in another direction revealed what appeared to be a monolith on the summit of St. Helens and on the far wall, the charred remains of a noble statue in the middle of the ruined Sanc Kingdom. He was almost afraid to turn and see what he new must be on the wall behind him. There, in the rock wall as clear as if he were looking into a still pool of water was his home. The Imperial Palace on Earth and what he’d always thought to be nothing more than a great stone statue of an archangel that stood above the palace on the mountainside. Each site shown with the light of their joining, the hotter Quatre burned, the brighter and more clear each world became. Hiiro looked back down at his lovers and gasped. Duo was as bright as Quatre now and neither of them seemed to be able to do much but hold each other tight as they sizzled under the immense power. ‘Stop this,’ Hiiro said as the fear grew in him. How could they survive such a thing? ‘It’s all right,’ Trowa assured him. ‘What’s happening?’ Wufei asked as he reached down to touch the couple. He withdrew his hand quickly as if he’d been stung as the energy crackled at his touch. ‘Stop it,’ Hiiro insisted again. ‘They’ll burn up.’ ‘Give me your hand,’ Trowa said softly, holding out his own. Hiiro did as he asked, watching as his hand turned to pure gold the moment it touched the light rising from the dais. Trowa offered his other hand to Wufei who took it as he climbed into the basin, changing from the boy they knew to a living statue of pure liquid gold right before their eyes. ‘The time has come for you to understand,’ Trowa told them. ‘Quatre,’ he said softly and the couple at their feet were slowly lifted into the air still wrapped tightly around each other. Suddenly they knew exactly what was happening and as one they embraced their friends. The charge the boy’s had drawn into themselves suddenly burst into the sky in a solid beam of light that shot out past the heavens. One by one the walls of the cavern flared as each site on the other worlds were stricken with the beam, one carrying the light to the next until at last the only one left was Annon Shugi whereupon all five rays came together at once to light the charred remains of the Sanc Kingdom. The light spread out over the barren land, causing new growth to instantly spring from the ground. In a matter of a moment the land had been healed, all that remained was to rebuild the ruined buildings and the kingdom would be restored. Hiiro understood. This was what could be. This was what they could bring to the galaxy and beyond, true harmony no matter what the distance. Annon Shugi would be the birthplace of the Emperor of the Universe, there was no longer any doubt. All that remained was for him to decide if he would be the father or not. He knew it was the right way but his heart still yearned for Duo’s dream. How could he make them both come true? ‘Duo,’ he heard himself whisper as the couple began to slow in their spiral elevation. They were moving again, slow and languid as they kissed each other sweetly. ‘Hhhmmm?’ the braided boy moaned softly. ‘Duo,’ Hiiro said again, reaching out to touch his lover’s back gently. The contact sent a shock through Duo’s body causing him to hiss and release their blond companion as he turned and kissed Hiiro full on. Hiiro wasted no time taking him down as Quatre fell back into Wufei’s arms and Trowa stepped up to kiss him. The light that connected the five worlds remained even after Annon Shugi was healed and released from the beam. It remained throughout the night, a perfect five point star in the heavens connecting the worlds these boys called home with its perfect illumination. It remained as long as they remained loving each other time and again in the curvature of the mountain dais. It remained until the last of them had stepped away then it faded gently into the night. They were barely dressed when Rashid appeared and informed them Libra was on its way to Aribi. The entire universe had been witness to the miracle the night before and Tribar apparently wanted whatever power that had created it. It was clear what had to be done so Rashid led them to their suits where they could go out to meet the menace face to face before it reached the desert planet. They were most gratified to find, upon their arrival, a fleet of the oddest diversity standing in the great space station’s path. Relena had done her bit and rallied the other worlds of the Council together after the attack on Annon Shugi. Tribar argued that the Sanc Kingdom was harboring weapons of mass destruction on their shores and therefore the attack had been justified but no evidence of this had been found. Now, the lesser countries of the galaxy were openly standing behind both Annon Shugi and Old Earth in their fight. Libra was surrounded by a horde of angry wasps that they didn’t dare swat for fear of enraging the rest of the nest. The only way they were getting to Aribi was through the Collective Fleet. ‘Tirbarian Space Station Libra, this is Hiiro of the planet Earth, you are hereby ordered to stand down and surrender your vessel. Resistance will be considered an act of war against the Coalition and grounds for your immediate destruction.’ ‘Do you honestly believe you can stand against us?’ Dermail replied smoothly. ‘I repeat, stand down and surrender,’ Hiiro repeated. ‘You think you’ve won?’ Dermail chuckled. ‘Your mother was a fool as well. Lets see how you deal with a no win situation, shall we? Gunner! Fire the main cannon!’ Hiiro and the others had barely made it out of the beam’s path as the cannon’s charge was released. It had been exactly what they’d expected and been prepared for. The moment the energy was dispelled Duo hit the main engines, Wufei and Quatre opened the bridge deck like a can of worms and Trowa took out the targeting turret on the underbelly of the ship. All that was left was to exploit the flaw they’d found in the cannon itself and that was left up to Hiiro. The tricky part was not to get blasted in the beam in the process. It all took less then a minute and Hiiro found himself staring down the barrel of a fifty megaton beam cannon fully capable of turning him and his suit to slag. ‘They’re firing! Hiiro get outta there!’ Duo screamed but Hiiro stood his ground. They’d only get one shot at this and timing was everything. ‘Hiiro!’ the braided boy screamed again just before Wing shot straight into the mouth of the beast. ‘Shit! What in the hell’s he doing?’ Wufei cried, heading to intercept Duo as he was quickly following Hiiro’s path. ‘Making damn sure that thing goes up,’ Trowa interjected. Wufei’s suit collided with Duo’s in an attempt to stay the hysterical boy from following his lover. The moment they smashed into each other Libra suddenly exploded, sending them and half the fleet rocketing through open space in the shock waves. ‘HIIIIIIIRO!’ Duo screeched, tearing hydraulic lines and electrical systems loose in his attempt to turn his suit around quickly enough to return to the site of the explosion. ‘Hiiro!’ he shouted again as they all searched through the debris but they found nothing. No trace of Hiiro or Wing. ‘No,’ Duo whispered still frantically looking for some sign. ‘Duo,’ Quatre called gently. ‘NO!’ the braided boy growled, throwing huge chunks of the ruined space station from his path as he continued to search. ‘Duo, please,’ the blond boy tried again. ‘NO!’ Duo screamed again as tears filled his eyes ‘He’s not dead! I’d know!’ ‘I would hope so.’ ‘Hiiro?!’ Duo breathed, turning to finally face the blond boy to find the burnt, charred visage of Wing in Sandrock’s arms. ‘Hiiro? You ok? Shit, you scared the living shit outta me!’
‘Sor…’ ‘Fuck, don’t you ever do something like that again! Do you have any clue …?’ ‘I love you, too,’ Hiiro cut him off. ‘Duo?’ ‘What?’ the braided boy replied sulkily. ‘Take me home.’ ~ * ~ tbc... |
