"The Gobanme Star"

Ch 20

Relena had disappeared into the bathroom the moment the ship left the atmosphere without a word to anyone, which was a shame because Duo had worked up quite a colorful new vocabulary to use in the girl’s presence. It was an eight hour trip to Annon Shugi even in hyperspace. They just hoped Tribar didn’t have the chance to get too tight a grip and find the Gundam’s before they got there. Relena had been less than pleased to hear her home planet was the destination of such a ship when she found out and had insisted on making contact with the Council but the boys had refused. If they opened the comm it would give the Tribarians a means of locating them and they couldn’t afford to end up in a cell block with the Gundam’s in danger. The news had served to infuriate her to the point she wasn’t speaking to them and went to sulk in her room, which actually suited them just fine. Even Duo had had a belly full of her.

They were six hours into the flight and things were pretty quiet. Hiiro, Duo and Wufei had been going over the Libra plans again in the cockpit but Duo had lost interest and turned his attention to something a little more productive as he straddled Wufei’s lap and kissed him slowly in the copilot’s seat. The Chinese boy was more than happy to accommodate him while Hiiro chose to sink down into the pilot’s chair and flip through the plans a few hundred more times.

‘Oh, come on, Hiiro’ Duo finally sighed. ‘We’ve been over them a thousand times. Give it a rest,’ he said, pushing Wufei’s shirt open so he could get to his bare chest as he moaned softly and petted the longhaired boy’s back and ass.

Hiiro glanced over at the pair for the first time in awhile and felt the need rise at the sight of them. Duo was right. They had the best plan they could hope for. He was just beating a dead horse to pass the time. There were much better ways to fill the hours. He smiled as he watched his longhaired lover drive the Chinese boy further into the flame then turned off the monitor and climbed out of the chair to slip up behind his braided lover.

He knelt down and laid his hand on the boy’s back, letting it fall slowly until Duo leaned back into him and offered him a kiss. The heat the braided boy had been nurturing between himself and Wufei transferred easily to Hiiro’s lips as he drank from the longhaired boy’s mouth. Hiiro took advantage of Wufei’s exposed chest to reach around Duo and unfasten the raven haired boy’s pants. Wufei took the hint and wiggled out of his jeans as Hiiro’s hands ghosted up Duo’s ebony clad stomach and chest until they found his broach and made a small adjustment that left the longhaired boy wearing nothing more than a bit of black silk that hung from the delicately carved piece of jewelry. The sight of Duo like this as Hiiro kissed him hungrily and let his hands wander his body, drawing small moaning gasps from him, was more than Wufei could resist. He reached out and pulled the chestnut haired boy back down, stealing his lips from their Japanese lover as he offered Duo his body. Duo hissed and accepted the offer with the greatest of enthusiasm, penetrating the raven haired boy as he kissed him. He paused once fully housed in the elegant Chinese boy’s body and relished the feel of Hiiro’s warm hands on his back as they slid around his waist for a moment before the blue eyed boy pressed forward and Duo groaned loudly and arched back into his chest. Hiiro leaned forward, taking Duo completely and forcing him deeper within the depths of Wufei’s body as he slipped his arms around his longhaired lover and draped the Chinese boy’s legs over his arms exposing him fully to them both. Duo and Wufei started to pant and moan as Hiiro began to stoke the fire with a steady, rhythmic beat.

Duo traded off taking kisses from Wufei and offering them to Hiiro. The heat was incredible. Once again Hiiro swore he’d never tire of his gift as he pushed them higher into the clouds. The perfect balance between them glowed like the edge of a knife in the coals, each measure of the song they created impeccably timed as they moaned each other’s names and endearments in softly whispered tones. Hiiro felt the fire within his lovers flare as he pushed them harder, higher, ever closer to the summit. The delicious sounds falling from Duo’s lips as he pleasured his body were intoxicating, each drawing a new level of intensity from the Japanese boy when suddenly the air was filled by and ear splitting wail that could take the paint off a pink limousine.

‘Ahhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!’ Relena screamed.

‘Shit,’ Hiiro breathed.

‘No!’ Wufei barked.

‘Go the fuck away!’ Duo growled, reaching back to keep Hiiro from withdrawing. It took amazingly little effort to coax him into staying right where his was.

‘Hiiro?! How?! Why are you..?!’ Relena stammered as her face turned several different colors at once. ‘Stop it!!’ she demanded as Trowa appeared behind her and almost doubled up laughing. ‘What’re you doing?! You can’t do that!’ she shrieked.

‘I thought you cared what she thought?’ Hiiro whispered softly as Duo pushed back into his hips, enticing him to resume that delicious rhythm they’d lost when the girl screamed.

‘Too late now,’ Duo reasoned. ‘Besides,’ he added, kissing Hiiro’s lips as Trowa took the hysterical girl by the shoulders and led her away. ‘Fei’s head is gonna implode if we desert him now,’ he grinned, pushing hard against the Chinese boy and making him groan and reach for them.

‘Well, now,’ Hiiro purred, slowly resuming the dance. ‘We wouldn’t want to disappoint… Fei,’ he said, pushing in hard and drawing a deep throated gasp from them both.

‘N...no...we. ...wouldn’t,’ the Chinese boy gasped just before Hiiro laid into them.

Quatre smiled a soft sigh as he passed by the cockpit and closed the door muffling the passionate cries that were beginning to reverberate throughout the ship before he returned to the galley to assist Trowa in his effort to calm their female passenger.

‘What is wrong with him?’ Relena growled, pacing the floor in her agitation. ‘Why is he letting that tramp of a boy talk him into these things?’

‘Relena, please,’ Quatre soothed but she only turned to glare at him. ‘They care for each other…’

‘Don’t say that!’ she snipped. ‘He’s just confused, that’s all,’ she insisted, sitting down then standing back up again to resume her pacing. ‘He’ll calm down once things settle down and he’s away from him.’

‘That’s not going to happen,’ Trowa told her evenly.

‘Yes it will!’ she snapped as a sonorous groan filled the hull. ‘Uhhhh!’ she growled, stamping her foot as her blue eyes flashed toward the cockpit.

‘Please, calm down,’ Quatre tried again. ‘Have some tea,’ he offered, toping off her untouched cup. ‘It’ll help.’

‘I don’t want tea!’ she snarled but sat anyway, crossing her arms to sulk. ‘I want my husband! He promised!’

‘Did he?’ Trowa interjected smoothly, sipping his tea.

‘Of course he did!’ she snapped, finally giving in and sipping at her own cup. ‘Emperor J set it all up with my brother, Milliardo.’

‘Princess,’ Quatre said kindly, reaching over to touch her hand. ‘Hiiro didn’t know anything about that. He never agreed to it.’

‘What?’ she breathed, sinking back in her chair. ‘But... but he said... no. He promised. It was agreed upon. I won’t let some tawdry fascination take him away.’

‘He’s in love,’ Quatre informed her again.

‘Oh, please,’ she replied, crinkling her nose. ‘He’s a boy! They’re all boys! Surely you can see the how ridiculous this is. Boys belong with girls. That’s the way it’s supposed to be and I won’t settle for anything less. Hiiro deserves better than that.’

Quatre flashed his lover a glance, asking for strength before he tried again. ‘Do you honestly believe it matters to your heart if the one you love is the same gender or not?’ he reasoned.

‘Of course it does!’ she snapped but the edge of her voice was somewhat dull. ‘He’ll see,’ she said, leaning back sulkily in her chair and folding her arms across her chest. ‘I’m the princess. He’s the prince. We’ll be married high on a hill in the springtime sun,’ she practically sang, throwing her arms open wide as a happy smile graced her face then suddenly she flopped forward and looked Quatre right in his gaping eyes. ‘Did you know,’ she began, glancing at Trowa as if he might be a spy, ‘that dragons use their tongues to…’ but she never got to finish the thought as she slumped from her chair to the floor.

Quatre stared at her helplessly for a moment then glanced at his lover who was smirking softly and sipping his tea. On a whim the blond boy picked up the girl’s cup and sniffed it, then recoiled from the pungent aroma of Ulshian tea.

‘Oh, Trowa!’ he gasped, looking at the unconscious girl again but his lover only smiled wider.

They tucked the girl into one of the bunks to sleep it off and ended up in the cockpit with three rather listless young men as they neared Anonnian space. Hiiro was back in the pilot’s chair with Duo sprawled out over his bare chest as Wufei caressed the boy’s calves where they lay comfortably in his lap in the copilot’s seat. Quatre sighed and wondered how in the world Relena just couldn’t see it; it was so damn obvious how much they loved each other.

‘Hm,’ Hiiro hummed softly as he browsed through the screens.

‘What is it?’ Duo moaned softly, rolling to one side so he could get a better look.

‘I’m not picking up Libra,’ the prince informed him, bunching his fingers up in the pile of ebony silk at the small of Duo’s back as he nuzzled his toes against Wufei’s leg.

‘What’dya mean you’re not picking it up?’ Wufei asked, leaning forward to pull up his own screens. ‘It’s the size of a small planet,’ he reasoned but he found no trace of the massive station on his sensors either.

‘I’ve got a really bad feeling about this,’ Quatre said softly as Wufei dropped them out of hyperspace and they got their first view of the planet. There was no visible sign of the space station.

‘No,’ the blond boy gasped falling to his knees as the star field slowed.

‘Quatre!’ Trowa gasped, kneeling down beside his fallen lover as Quatre grasped his chest and tried to catch his breath.

‘They’re gone. They’re all gone,’ Quatre breathed heavily as tears rolled down his cheeks.

‘What in the hell is that?’ Wufei asked softly, sitting up as Duo and Hiiro both got up to look as well. The bright blue planet rotated slowly beneath them, gradually revealing a huge black spot on the surface where the Sanc Kingdom used to be. The entire continent had been obliterated.

‘Nataku preserve us,’ Wufei whispered softly. ‘How could they?’ he asked, bewildered by the sheer magnitude of the tragedy.

‘Damn it,” Duo sighed, sinking down onto Hiiro’s lap. ‘How’re we gonna take this thing out without our suits?’

‘I don’t know,’ Hiiro replied, pulling him close as Wufei calculated the reentry course. ‘But we’re going to find a way. It has to be destroyed.’

Trowa took Quatre and settled him in the galley then went to wake Relena while the others found them a place to land amongst the rubble. There just wasn’t anything left. The entire fairytale kingdom had been wiped from the face of the planet. All that remained was the burnt out husks of some of the larger buildings like the Peacecraft Manor and even that was hopelessly in ruins.

No one had much to say. There just weren’t any words as the ship touched down. Duo sighed heavily when he heard Relena’s voice coming from the galley. Apparently Trowa was refusing to allow her to join them in the cockpit where she’d be able to see the carnage for herself.

‘I demand to be let off this ship!’ she squeaked as the other boys filed in. ‘Where is Milliardo? I want to see him now!’

‘Relena, please,’ Quatre tried to calm her. ‘There’s something we have to tell you…’

‘I don’t care!’ she barked indignantly. ‘Open that hatch! I want to see my brother! You can’t keep me here against my will! I demand...’

‘Duo wait!’ Hiiro gasped as Duo reached up and hit the boarding ramp release, letting the door fall open and reveal the wasteland that had once been the girl’s home.

Her face turned as ashen as the ground outside. Slowly she made her way toward the ramp and down, the shock on her face belied only by the absolute fury in her eyes.

‘I’m sorry,’ Duo said softly from behind her as she gazed silently at her ruined home. ‘I wish I could tell ya it gets easier,’ he soothed, crouching down to hold his knees as his stomach turned over.

‘How would you know?’ she asked softly and for once there was no judgment in her voice, only the pitch of absolute despair. She was completely lost with nothing left but the tug of a breeze that had once caressed her dream world with its tender touch.

‘I was born on L2,’ the braided boy replied almost too softly for her to hear.

Her eyes widened with the admission, then settled into a deeper understanding. ‘How did you survive?’ she asked at last. The L2 disaster was widely known as the worst calamity that had ever taken place. The entire colony had been wiped out by plague and sickness. So badly that the Council had seen no other option but to self detonate the colony, killing its inhabitants before the plague could be spread to other places in the galaxy. Duo had been the only survivor and now he and this girl were the only two living beings that knew of his plight.

‘I’m immune,’ he told her, sniffling slightly as tears began to well up at the memory the carnage in front of him brought to mind. ‘G was trying to use my blood as a means to find a cure when the Council condemned us.’

‘Relena!’ Zechs voice called from nearby as he and several others walked quickly across the burnt tundra.

The girl turned to face him, her eyes still amazingly dry as she contemplated her future. ‘What now?’ she asked softly.

‘That’s entirely up to you,’ Duo replied.

‘Relena,’ Zechs breathed heavily as he jogged up beside her and took her by the shoulders. ‘Are you alright? Pagan,’ he called to the older servant behind him. ‘Take her to the camp.’

‘No,’ the girl replied as her blue eyes set and the other boys climbed down out of the ship one by one. ‘Take me to Altron,’ she said firmly as she turned to face the violet orbs in the crouching bit of shadow behind her. Their eyes met and held for a good long moment before she broke the gaze and walked over to Hiiro. ‘Leave the bureaucrats to me,’ she told him, glancing over her shoulder at the braided boy who still hadn’t moved. ‘Take care of each other,’ she added before she leaned in and kissed him on the cheek then turned to her brother.

‘Relena, I’m so sorry...’ Zechs began but she cut him off.

‘We’ve no time to grieve now. There is a war at hand,’ she told him as she led their group away.

‘Abdul?’ Quatre said softly as he reached the bottom of the ramp.

One of the two men left standing suddenly dropped to the ground at Quatre’s feet.

‘Master Quatre!’ he barked, kissing the blond boy’s ankles.

If this was odd behavior Quatre didn’t show any sign of it as he allowed the man to hug and kiss his feet. ‘What’re you doing here?’ he asked with a small smile as the man’s attentions were tickling him.

Abdul relented but didn’t stand or raise his head, remaining in a kneeling position facing the ground. ‘Rashid had us take the Gundam’s when we learned of Libra’s intent,’ he told them.

‘What?’ Duo asked, standing from his crouch to face them. ‘You have our suits?’

‘Yes,’ the man replied.

‘Oh, Abdul, I could kiss you!’ Quatre crowed. The statement seemed to shock and delight the man to no end as he looked up and Quatre fell in front of him and kissed both his cheeks. ‘Where are they?’ he asked the crimson faced man.

‘A...Aribi,’ Abdul stuttered as he seemed to be in some mild form of shock.

‘HOME!’ Quatre cried, jumping up and glomping his tall lover as he threw himself wholly into his arms. ‘I’m going home!’ he enthused as his eyes lit up with a fire the other’s had only seen in the depths of passion. ‘I’m going home, Trowa!’ he sang, squirming so much the giggling Aikenian had to put him down before he dropped him.
