Ch 2 No one saw Duo again until dinner time but Hiiro had had the feeling the rest of the day he was being watched. He’d tried several times to catch sight of his elusive stalker when this feeling became intense but all he’d managed to see was a motion or the flit of a shadow inside a shadow. Duo was nowhere to be seen. This feeling was scratching him fiercely between his shoulder blades as he sat on a cushion at the long, low table on his father’s right hand side that evening. He scanned the assembly. There were the other three boy’s filling their plates along with his father and his advisor and confidant Professor G along with the two visiting dignitaries from the Ision system with their bright blue tattoos displayed proudly on their half bald heads. Most unbecoming on the woman, Hiiro thought once again, and the ambassador prince from the Sanc Kingdom of the planet Annon Shugi, Milliardo Peacecraft. His stomach tightened uncomfortably when the tall, platinum blond haired man met his eyes but he managed an amiable smile just the same. He didn’t have anything against the man, per se, it was just that the family had been trying for some time to convince his father that a marriage between the current princess of the Sanc Kingdom and the heir to the Imperial throne would be advantageous to all. Hiiro had never met the girl and truly had no desire to. He wanted out of his role as leader. He wanted adventure and to live his life a free man and find his own destiny. He sighed and turned his head away only to start suddenly as Duo smiled at him from his other side. ‘Damn, don’t do that!’ Hiiro growled. ‘If I can still do that by the end of this month you’ll be a dead man,’ Duo grinned. ‘Chicken?’ he asked holding up a drum stick he’d been chewing on. ‘Am I truly so pathetic?’ Hiiro asked uncertainly. ‘Pitiful,’ Duo replied absently as he reached for another drum stick. ‘I’ve been all over you all day,’ he informed him. ‘You looked right at me twice.’ Hiiro felt his heart sinking with every word. He’d not seen one ounce of hard evidence of the boy’s presence that day. ‘You’ve got good instincts though,’ Duo consoled. ‘Most people wouldn’t have even known I was there. At least you looked.’ ‘How do you do... that?’ Hiiro asked not quite sure what to call the boy’s talent for invisibility. ‘Oh, well, where I come from you either become a shadow or a greasy spot on the bottom of someone’s shoe,’ Duo explained. ‘Where were you born?’ the prince asked curiously. He was becoming more and more distracted by the boy’s attire. He’d worn a high necked, black shirt that hugged his body tightly but it was the high contrast of the skin that showed from beneath the diagonal slits in the ebony material just over the collar bones that was making his mouth water. The fact that his long chestnut braid was laying draped over his shoulder and coiled in his lap where the light from the fires glistened off it silky threads wasn’t helping much either. ‘Doesn’t matter,’ Duo replied, pouring Hiiro and himself another goblet of wine. ‘I got out and I ain’t never goin’ back. You’re doing that gaping fish thing again, by the way,’ he added handing Hiiro his drink. ‘You really need to work on that,’ he chuckled as Hiiro snapped his mouth shut. ‘It’s not usually a concern,’ the prince admitted as his cheeks flushed and he drank. ‘I’m flattered,’ Duo smiled. ‘But there are many things in this universe far more tempting than I that would just as soon chew on your spleen as kiss those pouting lips of yours. I suggest you get a handle on it if you want to stay alive.’ ‘Doubtful,’ Hiiro mumbled as he took another drink but it was apparent he hadn’t mumbled softly enough when Duo suddenly grinned brilliantly. He blushed and raised his glass again and promptly passed out. He felt the world coming back to him slowly. His head hurt and his mouth felt like he’d been sucking on cotton. He’d been drugged. He cursed himself for his own stupidity and forced himself to wake fully. He recognized the cell as one of the dungeons under the palace. They were fairly well lit, having been designed by the same architects that built the palace above, but they were damp being half submerged in the sea. The rising tide was known to flood them during storms, making them useless in modern times as no one was cruel enough to subject even prisoners to such inhumane deaths. Other cells had been built away from the palace to accommodate prisoners, leaving these deserted and abandoned for the last hundred years. Now, Hiiro found himself chained to the wall of one of those cells, spread eagle on a two thousand year old stretching rack. He was not a happy camper. He cursed himself again and tested his bindings. They creaked and gave slightly but held. He figured it must be morning of the next day by the amount of light in the cell and the sound of the frigate birds outside the bars of the small, high windows that would let in the sea at high tide. He looked around again trying to figure some way out of his predicament but all he found was wet sea weed that had accumulated in the dark corners and a crab or two that scuttled about. ‘Damn you,’ he cursed, laying his head back on the cold, damp wood of the rack. ‘Don’t blame me for your stupidity,’ Duo’s voice echoed around the cell. Hiiro’s head snapped back up as he looked around for the source of the soft tenor. His eyes lighted on the corner where a soft shadow seemed to waver and solidify, slowly melting into the shape of a young boy crouching on the floor as he stared unmoving at the astonished prince. He was no more than a dark spot against the gray absence of light behind him. Hiiro might have lost track of him altogether if it hadn’t been for the soft reflection of light in his amethyst eyes. He wore his cloak again and had the hood pulled up almost covering his head. All that showed was his bangs and eyes as he crouched and leaned his mouth against his folded arms. ‘You kidnapped me,’ Hiiro admitted. ‘Obviously,’ Duo replied. ‘Why?’ the prince asked. ‘Because you let me.’ Hiiro sighed and watched as the first of the small waves crested the window sill and splashed down the wall. ‘Fine, you’ve made your point,’ he sighed. ‘Now release me.’ Duo chuckled darkly and rose to his feet shaking his head. Hiiro heard the sound of men running over head. The steps were heavy as if they were armed and heavily armored. ‘They think I’ve taken you for ransom,’ Duo explained. ‘But why…?’ Hiiro wondered. ‘Probably because of the note I left demanding ten million credits for your safe return,’ the braided boy replied. ‘You demanded a ransom?’ Hiiro growled, his chest tightening as Duo nodded. ‘Do you intend to collect?’ Duo walked slowly up to him, not stopping until his body was pressing lightly against Hiiro’s and his lips rested a breath away from the Japanese monarch’s mouth. Hiiro tried to control his breathing as his heart sped up. ‘Absolutely,’ Duo whispered, softly ghosting his cheek against Hiiro’s mouth. Hiiro swallowed hard. ‘What do you want?’ he asked. He had a feeling it had nothing to do with credits. Gods, he damn sure hoped it had nothing to do with credits. ‘I want you to live,’ Duo whispered, letting his words wash warmly over Hiiro’s mouth and cheek. The prince turned into the temptation, gently taking Duo’s lips in a slow kiss. He pulled at his bindings again, listening as they merged their groaning complaints with the soft moan that vibrated in his throat. Damn, he tasted like bitter-sweet wine. His energy was thick and heavy and ran down Hiiro’s throat like liquid fire setting his whole body ablaze. The long haired boy raised his arms slowly and placed his hands on the wall on either side of Hiiro’s head, deepening the kiss as he pressed his body into him. The prince groaned again, lifting his hips to meet Duo’s as he crushed his erection into his crotch. By the time the braided boy had pulled away, the prince was straining against the chains so hard they sang. He licked his lips savoring the exquisite flavor of Duo’s lips as he tried to stop his world from spinning. ‘You truly are a fool,’ Duo whispered, moving away. Hiiro watched as his image backed up and began to waver. He blinked his eyes and shook his head trying to clear his vision to no avail. When he looked again Duo’s shifting visage was walking slowly to the adjoining cell. ‘Shit!’ he growled. ‘You drugged me again!’ he snarled, pulling hard at the chains again. ‘Tag,’ Duo said softly. ‘Damn it!’ Hiiro barked, struggling to free himself. His efforts ceased instantly the moment he got a good look at what was laying in the other cell. ‘What the …?’ he asked of no one in particular as he recognized the young blond boy that was strapped down and gagged on the table. Duo walked up to the table and ran his hand slowly down the sleek blonde’s body as he thrashed about, pulling at his bindings and growling incoherently. ‘What in the hell do you think you are doing?’ Hiiro growled but Duo paid him no mind as he crawled up on the table and knelt between Quatre’s legs. ‘Leave him alone!’ the prince bellowed, jerking at his chains. They groaned and stretched slightly but held just the same. Duo ignored him, again leaning forward to crawl up over the blond boy as he struggled to free himself. Hiiro felt the fury pounding against his chest as he watched the braided boy force a kiss on his blond friend right through the gag, then bend to chew on his neck as he flailed about beneath him. ‘Stop it!’ the young prince growled again. Damn it, if he could just get his head to clear! His vision wavered in and out, giving him only a dreamscape view of the scene as Duo leaned back gripping the frightened blonds’ thin pants and ripping them open at the seams. Hiiro slammed his head back onto the wooden rack trying to clear it. The pain seemed to help a little but that only gave him a clearer view of Duo as he opened his pants. Hiiro felt the rage intensify as Duo leaned over his body again, pushing his legs wider, Quatre’s ankles pulled tight against the ropes that bound them to the corners of the table. He felt his resolve quicken as the blond suddenly arched back and tried to scream as the braided boy penetrated him. He slammed his head against the rack again, heaving against the chains. He felt hope spring to life as one of the chains gave way under the strain and Quatre screamed. Duo must have removed the gag. A quick glance confirmed that he had and was now laying into him violently. The sight of the braided boy raping the blond youth so mercilessly turned his stomach so badly that he growled violently and brutally ripped the rest of the chains from the wall. There was a horrible wailing as if Duo had split the blond boy in two before he managed to free his legs and stagger into the center of the cell but when he looked into the adjoining cell it was empty. Duo was gone and Quatre wasn’t there. There wasn’t even a table. He shook his head and fell to his knees in the ankle deep water. The door to his cell was open so he splashed his face trying to gather his wits and forced himself to his feet. His head began to clear when he left the dungeons, allowing his steps to quicken as he made his way through the halls. ‘Hiiro no Ouji-sama!’ a guard called, rushing up to him but he only pushed him violently into the wall and walked on by. He had only one thing on his mind as he slammed the doors to his quarters open and stormed inside. Trowa looked up slowly from the chess board he was staring at and regarded him with one raised brow while Wufei spun around at the intrusion prepared to fight whoever had burst in on them until he saw who it was. ‘He’s taken Quatre,’ Hiiro growled. ‘What?’ the blond boy said, sitting up from where he’d been laying on the couch. Hiiro gaped at him. He looked unscathed. ‘He... but he... I saw him... rape you...’ he mumbled, trying again to get a grip on his spinning head. ‘What?’ Quatre gasped, rising and looking uncertainly at the distressed prince. ‘Who? What are you talking about Hiiro? What’s happened to you?’ he asked, taking in the soggy state of his clothes and the blood on his wrists. ‘He...’ Hiiro started again but his head was spinning faster and faster, forcing him to fall to his knees again. Quatre came cautiously up and kneeled down in front of him. ‘You were... screaming,’ Hiiro said more to himself than anyone else. ‘He hurt you.’ ‘Nooo,’ Quatre soothed, laying a hand on his shoulder. ‘I’m fine. No one has hurt me. What’s this all about?’ ‘I... he,’ Hiiro began but he just couldn’t get his head to slow down long enough to get a whole thought together so he reached out and snatched the boy into a bear hug. ‘You’re ok,’ he hissed, holding him tight. Quatre squeaked but assured his friend ‘Yes. I’m fine... Hiiro?... Can’t breathe.’ The prince slowly lessened his grip, burying his face in his neck and kissing his skin. He pulled back laying small kisses along his jaw then kissed his lips briefly before Quatre managed to get his hands on his damp face and force him to look into his eyes. ‘What’s happened?’ he asked again. ‘Who did you think hurt me?’ ‘Me.’ They all turned to find the dark figure of the Toorima sitting in the window sill looking at them with a bright smile as he casually leaned back, dangling his braid out the window. ‘You!’ Hiiro growled deep in his throat turning to face him. ‘Nice trick,’ Duo told him amiably. ‘You’ve been genetically altered for strength, huh?’ ‘I’ll kill you,’ Hiiro snarled, trying to rise to his feet but Quatre clung to him holding him back. ‘What did you do to me!’ he ground out, dragging the slight blond across the floor behind him. Duo chuckled. ‘Isn’t it obvious?’ he asked, seemingly unaffected by the seething mass of Japanese beast that was slowly moving toward him. Hiiro paused to consider a moment, then comprehension seemed to dawn in his dark sapphire eyes. ‘It was a hallucinogen,’ he surmised. ‘You must have one hell of a tolerance for them,’ Duo smiled. ‘You should be neck deep in never, never land right now.’ ‘You bastard!’ Hiiro growled, resuming his advance. ‘Do you always blame others for your own stupidity?’ Duo asked him impatiently. Hiiro paused again. ‘When you kissed me,’ he said softly as he looked at the floor then shook his head again. ‘You had it on your lips.’ ‘Now you’re catching on!’ Duo grinned happily, crossing his arms in front of his chest. ‘But then... why didn’t it affect you?’ ‘It did,’ Duo replied. ‘But you’re...’ ‘In control,’ the braided boy finished for him. ‘And there’s the answer to that little riddle, huh?’ He turned to Wufei and asked ‘Is he always this slow?’ Hiiro growled again and shook Quatre off his arm, lunging for him but Duo was too quick and simply jumped up into the window as Hiiro’s momentum carried him in a full circle before he crashed to the floor. The prince steadied himself and rose to one knee then looked at the black clad silhouette crouching in the window. ‘Damn it. What do you want from me?’ he asked exhaustedly. ‘I want you to live,’ Duo grinned then fell backwards out the window. ** ‘I’m sorry,’ Hiiro said softly as Quatre bathed his right shoulder. The blond boy had insisted on cleaning him up after his ordeal. He figured it’d be easier if the could see for himself he was alright. ‘For what?’ Quatre asked, gently moving to his back in the steaming water. The bath in Hiiro’s quarters was more like a small swimming pool. It wasn’t all that uncommon for the prince to have more than one companion in the bath with him at a time. Usually, these consisted of one or two of the palace concubines to help him bath and rid him of any penned up energies. The occasional boy from the court had found his way into the sweetly scented waters as well. ‘I kissed you,’ Hiiro explained, relaxing into the blonds’ slow, soapy massage. Quatre chuckled softly. ‘You do make a habit of that,’ he replied. ‘I’m sorry,’ Hiiro offered again, leaning back into him. Quatre accepted him without question, letting him lie back on his chest as he wrapped his arms around him and scrubbed his chest. Hiiro could feel the laces of his pants as they moved in the water, tickling his back as he relaxed under his gentle ministrations. ‘It really upset you didn’t it?’ Quatre asked. ‘Hmm,’ Hiiro nodded slowly. Another minute of this and he’d be asleep. ‘I didn’t realize you’d grown so fond of me,’ the blond boy smiled. Hiiro’s brow furrowed. He hadn’t really thought about it but his reaction did indicate strong feelings for him. He hadn’t realized it himself. ‘I’m sorry,’ he reiterated. ‘I didn’t mean to disrespect you.’ Quatre let the wash rag slip beneath the water then drew it back up, rinsing the soap from prince’s taut chest. ‘You didn’t,’ he said softly next to Hiiro’s ear as he pulled him closer. Hiiro sighed heavily and found a small smile on his lips as Quatre continued to rinse his chest in the warm water. He felt his ribs rise and fall rhythmically as the boys delicate hands glided over his skin, ghosting across his nipples then slipping down his stomach into the water again. It took a moment for him to realize he was becoming more than a little aroused. ‘We should get out,’ Hiiro advised, leaning forward but Quatre held him in place. ‘Or…not,’ the blond whispered softly. ‘Quatre,’ Hiiro shuddered softly as Quatre ran his hands down his chest again. ‘You shouldn’t do that.’ ‘Why not?’ he whispered, this time letting his lips brush along the shell of the prince’s ear. Hiiro leaned up and turned to face him, his dark blue eyes asking the question Quatre’s coy smile was quickly answering. He bent down to kiss him but paused half an inch from his lips. Looking down into the water he snagged the cloth and smiled at his friend. ‘Forgive me,’ he asked sheepishly as he used it to wash the boy’s smiling lips before he kissed him. As he laid the blond boy back on the steps in the warm water and began to make love to him, a deep shadow in the far corner of the ceiling silently slipped out the window. The prince was a bit slow, Duo thought to himself, but he learned his lessons well. He also looked damn good covered in soapsuds. It was going to be an interesting month.
