Ch 18 Relena was watching the news archives for the fourth time when Wufei reemerged and offered her a cup of tea as he sat at the galley table beside her. ‘Thank you,’ she said softly, clearly shaken by what she was hearing. ‘Are you all right?’ the Chinese boy asked, sipping his tea. She sighed and turned off the vid feed. ‘Yes,’ she breathed softly. ‘I supposed it’s not so shocking that these men would attempt to deceive the Council, considering.’ she added, drinking from her cup. ‘Considering?’ Wufei asked. ‘In all honesty, Dermail and Tuberov were working within the boundaries of the law when Hiiro and Duo attacked them.’ she said. ‘They have the right to defend themselves, after all. If Hiiro would only listen to reason and compromise with the man …’ ‘Are you blind?’ Wufei snorted, kicking back in his chair. ‘Dermail lives in the loopholes like the worm he is. Nothing he touches is legal.’ ‘Be that true or not,’ she said stubbornly. ‘There are proper channels that allow for discussion of such …’ ‘How many people must die while you discuss the situation in committee?’ the Chinese boy asked, rising from his seat leaving her to stare at him. ‘There’s been enough talk, My Lady. The time for action is at hand,’ he informed her then left her to her thoughts. He retired to the cockpit and spent the remainder of the flight going over possible weaknesses in the Libra station. The perimeter alarm announcing their eminent arrival on China Seti II had just gone off and he was laying in a reentry course when he heard Relena scream. ‘What are you doing?!’ the girl shrieked as he bolted down the hallway to find her standing in the doorway to Hiiro and Duo’s room. ‘You’re not supposed to be with him, you’re supposed to be with me!’ she yelled as Duo scrambled for his broach, managing to pull the sheet off of Hiiro in the process so Hiiro snatched it back, leaving him standing in the middle of the room buck naked with his broach in his hand looking like a catfish on shore. Wufei busted up laughing as her face turned red and smoke poured from her ears. ‘This is not normal behavior!’ she cried as Duo dove back under the covers. ‘Now Relena,’ Duo tried to sooth the girl. ‘Don’t you Relena me!’ she shouted. ‘This is my fiancé! He’s going to marry ME! Not you! So get out! Get out of that bed and stay away from him!’ she shouted, stamping her feet. ‘Relena,’ Hiiro interjected. ‘You were told...’ ‘I don’t care!’ she squealed, stomping her foot again. ‘It was arranged! You have an obligation to me and your father! I forbid you to see this boy ever again!’ ‘Oh get a grip,’ Wufei tossed in, losing some of his steam over the oddity of the situation as his giggle fit toned down to something more of a chuckle. ‘What damn cloud were you born on anyway?’ the Chinese boy asked, walking into the room and sitting down beside Duo. ‘Come on,’ he coaxed, pulling out a chair for her to sit in but she remained defiantly in the doorway. Wufei nodded and let her have her way. ‘I’m sorry you’re upset,’ Hiiro began again. ‘But you were told.’ ‘How could I have known she was telling the truth?!’ the girl spat. ‘How could you love him?! He’s a boy!’ her voice escalated with each word. ‘It’s remarkably easy,’ the prince smiled, reaching out to touch Duo’s hair and her eyes darkened. ‘Hiiro, please,’ she sighed, stepping forward pleadingly. ‘You must see this is wrong. You deserve more than this. You could have a home and a real family with me in Sanc. I can see you’re infatuated with this boy, but ...’ ‘I love him, Relena,’ Hiiro tried to explain again. ‘Don’t say that!’ she spat, turning her head to sulk. ‘Get used to it,’ the prince countered. ‘He’s a thief!’ ‘Local hero,’ Hiiro smiled. ‘An assassin!’ ‘Exterminator,’ the prince countered. ‘HE’S A BOY!’ she shrieked as the veins on her neck throbbed. ‘The most beautiful I’ve ever seen,’ Hiiro grinned in satisfaction. ‘Wufei,’ she turned on the Chinese boy. ‘Surely, you can see…’ ‘Whoa! Leave me out of this!’ the raven haired boy held up both hands. ‘Aw, come on Fei,’ Hiiro grinned, running his foot up his spine and making him arch his back. ‘You haven’t had any trouble getting into it so far.’ ‘Ho! Ok, slow down there, hot foot,’ Duo broke in. ‘Look,’ he sighed heavily. ‘If it’ll make you happy, I’ll move to another room.’ ‘Duo!’ Hiiro scoffed, sitting up as her face washed with smug satisfaction. ‘Hiiro, please,’ the longhaired boy sighed tiredly. ‘We’ve been over this.’ ‘Moving you to another cabin isn’t going to change anything,’ Hiiro reminded him. ‘It’ll keep her worship from popping a vein,’ Duo pointed out. ‘Fine. If you move I’m coming with you,’ Hiiro stated stubbornly. ‘Hiiro,’ Duo sighed again. ‘You can share my room,’ Wufei grinned. ‘Oh, shut up.’ ‘This is stupid,’ Hiiro sat up and wrapped his arm around Duo’s waist, pulling him closer. ‘Relena, I’m truly sorry if my father led you on but the simple truth is I’m in love with Duo and I always will be. I don’t even know you and even if I did I’d still be in love with Duo. You need to come to grips with that.’ ‘Love him if you must but I will be the one wearing your wedding ring,’ she replied. ‘It will be me who bears your children. Let’s see him pull that one off!’ ‘Hmm, you think that could be done?’ Hiiro mused, looking at his lover. ‘Oh, don’t you even go there!’ Duo growled. ‘This is not how it’s supposed to happen!’ she whined, stomping her foot again. ‘Ok,’ Duo ground out, letting the sound of her voice roll off his back. ‘So while Princess Pitch is on board I’ll just bunk...’ ‘Duo,’ Hiiro sighed. ‘Why are you pacifying her?’ ‘Hiiro?’ she breathed, shocked that he’d even ask. ‘Because,’ Duo mumbled leaning closer so only Hiiro could make out what he was saying. ‘She’s the mother of the friggen’ ruler of the known universe.’ ‘Not if it means I have to sleep alone,’ Hiiro stated stubbornly. Duo sighed. ‘You don’t have to sleep alone,’ Relena interjected smugly. ‘Oh, yes I do,’ Hiiro countered. ‘No you don’t,’ Wufei grinned. ‘Oh, shut up,’ Hiiro and Duo grumped together. ‘What are you talking about?!’ the girl sighed in exasperation, throwing her arms up in the air. ‘Look,’ Duo cut in again. ‘It’s not so bad, right? We’ll…’ ‘You sleep with her,’ Hiiro suggested suddenly. ‘Aww, geez man!’ Duo cringed, crawling back across the bed until he was against the wall. ‘That was so not fair!’ he growled as Hiiro smiled smugly. ‘But you want me to sleep with her?’ Hiiro countered. ‘You like girls!’ Duo snapped. ‘That doesn’t mean I want to sleep with her,’ the prince retorted. ‘I’ll sleep with her,’ Wufei slipped in objectively, looking her over. ‘Thank you,’ the girl replied before she’d really thought about it. She opened her mouth to counter the implication but was cut off again. ‘I never said you had to sleep with her,’ Duo sneered at his lover. ‘Then what the hell do you want?’ Hiiro asked. ‘You could try being nice!’ the longhaired boy snorted. ‘That would be a good place to start,’ Relena smiled enthusiastically. ‘Stay out of this,’ Hiiro griped then turned back to his lover. ‘I don’t get why this is so damn important to you,’ he said as his temper began to falter. ‘Because she’s right,’ the braided boy retorted dejectedly. ‘No she’s not,’ Hiiro countered. ‘Yes, she is, Hiiro!’ Duo snapped so vehemently Hiiro’s mouth dropped open as the boy’s violet eyes flashed. ‘I can’t give you children! Don’t you get that?’ he barked, folding his arms across his chest as he curled up in the corner. They were all silent for a long moment before Hiiro finally spoke ‘Are you… are you saying you want to... have my children?’ The prince felt that painful tightening in his chest again as the braided boy reached up and brushed away a stray tear that had managed to escape his eye as he rolled them. ‘No,’ he said softly. ‘It’s like she said. We’re both guys. Kids aren’t an option.’ Hiiro’s mouth slowly dropped open. How could he have been so damn blind? His mind flashed instantly on a crowd of children in a crimson city as they mobbed his lover, the scene overflowing with love and affection the likes of which he’d never seen before and he suddenly understood. It wasn’t the ‘ruler of the know universe’ that Duo wanted. It was a child. His child. Hiiro’s child. ‘Oh, god Duo,’ he breathed, reaching for him and kissing him warmly as Relena turned six shades of pale. ‘Damn, I love you so much,’ he whispered. ‘We’ll find a way,’ he told him. ‘She’s the best option,’ Duo reminded him. Hiiro glanced over his shoulder. ‘Does it have to be her?’ he asked a little queasy at the thought. ‘It’d work out best for everyone if it were,’ the braided boy replied. ‘Excuse me,’ Relena interrupted. ‘Are you implying that I should bear your children for you?’ she asked, clearly appalled by the very idea. ‘Shit,’ Duo sighed. ‘This is not going well.’ Just then the reentry alarm sounded, causing Wufei to jump up and dart for the cockpit and sending Relena scrambling for a chair with a seat belt. Hiiro reached up and slapped the door close button and turned back to his lover with a huge grin on his face. ‘What?’ Duo moped, fingering his broach in his hand but Hiiro just smiled at him some more with that goofy grin on his face. ‘Oh, shut up,’ the braided boy rolled his eyes as Hiiro gathered him into his arms and kissed him happily. China Seti II was a moist planet so most of the time the ground was covered in a thin mist that blanketed the low mountainous regions. The people of Old China on Earth had come to this place long ago, striking an accord with the indigenous life form that had once visited them on Ancient Earth and helped form many of their religions and cultural aspects. The individuals that had been left long ago had eventually died out leaving behind only myths and legends until the people had come to the stars and rediscovered their history. It was widely believed that they had been granted the blessing of living out their lives in the heavens among the gods. As they dropped below the cloud cover Hiiro’s mouth fell open again as his eyes beheld the awe-inspiring sight of the China sky. Low lying purple mountains framed in mist and along the horizon…Dragons. Some of them were half as big as the ship as they soared through the air coming closer to get a look at the newcomer in their skies. Hiiro felt his breath catch as a large black male came in so close they could actually see the vertical pupil of his yellow eye as he peered in at them. Wufei waved and smiled at the creature, who veered off and howled as it did a barrel roll and spit fire into the air calling hundreds more for miles around. Relena’s eyes sparkled with wonder as they were slowly consumed by a sea of gargantuan shapes with huge leathery wings and scaly bodies. Even Duo seemed to be holding his breath as the call went out to more and more of the creatures. ‘My God, Fei,’ Duo breathed. ‘They’re so beautiful.’ ‘Yes,’ the Chinese boy sighed as he piloted them down toward the landing pad. ‘They are. Duo,’ he added off handedly. ‘Keep your hood up.’ The sky was still dotted with them as they disembarked but the valley swam with their huge scaly bodies as hundreds of them crowded in trying to get a closer look at the Chinese prince. Hiiro felt an ominous new respect seep into his heart for the raven haired boy as he stepped confidently down the path where the old black male had landed and laid his head on the ground in a kind of bow. ‘Burakku!’ Wufei greeted the huge beast with an even bigger smile as he patted him on the nose. ‘I trust your clan is well?’ ‘Six new whelps since we last spoke,’ the old creature grinned. ‘What have you brought us today?’ he asked, eyeing the rest of the party. ‘Forgive me,’ the Chinese boy begged, turning to his group. ‘This is Hiiro no Ouji-sama of Old Earth,’ he introduced, indicating that Hiiro should step forward so he did. The old dragon regarded him then sniffed him softly. ‘You choose your lover’s well,’ he said, grinning at the blushing Chinese boy. ‘He’s a strong, young man.’ ‘You should use your nose for less perverted occupations,’ Wufei scolded amiably. ‘And who might this charming young maiden be?’ the old dragon asked, grinning at Relena as she gazed at him dreamily and blushed demurely at the compliment. ‘Princess Relena Peacecraft of the Sanc Kingdom of Annon Shugi,’ Wufei said with a flourish. ‘My Lady, may I present Burakku o Tatsu Kama-sama, keeper of the seventh seal and leader of the Draconian Legacy.’ Relena curtsied low, clearly as much in awe of the long title as the beast himself. ‘Princess, hmm?’ the old dragon mused, letting his tongue slip out to taste the air around the girl as she held the low bow. ‘Perhaps Her Highness would do us the honor of sharing her delightful company at dinner this evening?’ he asked. ‘A splendid idea,’ the Chinese boy smiled, lifting a brow in question to the girl as she finally stood up straight again and glanced nervously at him. She looked into the expectant face of the old dragon and replied, ‘I would be honored.’ ‘Wonderful,’ Wufei grinned happily, clapping his hands together. ‘We’ll collect you before we leave. Oh, you’ll have a wonderful time. Dragons are notoriously fond of beautiful young Princesses, you know,’ he told her ushering her off toward the stairs. ‘Ahem,’ Burakku cleared his throat as the others started to follow. ‘Hm?’ Wufei hummed, looking back innocently at the huge creature. ‘There is one more among your number,’ the old dragon pointed out, nudging the shadow that had been hiding behind Hiiro out into the open. Wufei sighed then regained his balance ‘That’s just Duo,’ he said quickly going back to guiding the girl but Burakku wasn’t having any of it and bent to sniff at the black clad boy. Something caught his attention in the boy’s scent that raised his scaly brow and made him redouble his efforts in scenting him. Duo’s hand snapped up as the creature’s nose sniffled at him and slapped him sharply across the tender part of the nose causing him to snort and draw back aghast. ‘Back off, slag breath,’ the braided boy snapped. ‘Impudent mortal!’ one of the great green dragons surrounding them growled, reaching down to snap at the dark shape on the pad but he never even got close as Burakku snarled and roared thunderously, snatching him by the neck with his powerful jaws and pinning him to the side of the mountain with his massive, clawed forelegs. The green roared his indignity, spitting fire a hundred feet into the air as rocks and foliage scattered to the ground, pelting the small humans that dodged about on the dais. ‘Back off, slag breath!’ the old dragon growled at his junior dropping him so he towered over the cowering creature then turning his attention back to the human darkness that stood straight on the dais, seemingly unaffected by the epic sight. Relena was shaking and cowering under Wufei, who had dropped on her to keep her from being pummeled by falling rock. They remained wary as the old creature bent his head to examine the bit of night once more. ‘Burakku,’ Wufei interjected, lifting the shaken girl to her feet again. ‘He’s no one, another of my lovers; you can sense that. Forgive his insolence…’ The dragon ignored him, choosing instead to approach Duo once more, only this time he kept a respectable distance as he narrowed his eyes and tried to get a good look at him. Duo stood perfectly still facing the huge creature. Suddenly the dragon blew out a huge puff of air, blowing the boy’s hood off and leaving him standing exposed to all eyes around. ‘Myyyy,’ the old dragon cooed once he’d gotten a good look at him. ‘Wufei you wound me. How could you keep such a treasure so selfishly hidden?’ He smiled as his eyes dropped lazily shut and laid his head at Duo’s feet. The braided boy gave him the ‘what the fuck?’ look for a moment then transferred the expression to his Chinese lover. ‘Shit,’ Wufei sighed. ‘Burakku please...’ he began as Duo took a step back to avoid the slithering tongue that was reaching out to caress his feet. ‘We don’t have time for this.’ The green that the old dragon had reprimanded suddenly appeared behind them on the other side of the dais but he had the strangest dreamy look in his eye as he pushed a rather large boulder onto the pad. ‘Have you ever seen a natural gold vain?’ the beast asked the confused boy as he bent and bit the boulder in two splitting it down the middle, exposing the gold within. ‘Come,’ he coaxed, ‘a gift.’ ‘You have no claim here, be gone!’ Burakku growled sulkily. ‘I can offer you gems,’ he said sweetly to Duo as he rolled his huge head upside down like some huge cat begging to have its tummy scratched. ‘Damn it,’ Wufei sighed, walking over to take Duo by the hand. ‘I told you do keep your damn hood up,’ he growled, pulling him along. ‘Hey!’ the two dragons barked in unison. ‘Leave him to choose amongst us,’ Burakku begged, slipping up beside the storming Chinese boy and his charge. ‘He isn’t interested,’ Wufei growled. ‘Take her,’ he snapped, indicating Relena over his shoulder. ‘This one’s mine.’ ‘Selfish brat,’ the green complained, tagging along. ‘We’ll give him back,’ a red in the crowd grinned, earning it a claw in the face from the green that caused it to spit fire in his face. ‘Let the boy decide,’ Burakku purred, lowering his head in front of them on the path but Wufei wasn’t having any of it and stepped right up the scaly skull as if it were mere stones or steps in their path and kept right on walking. ‘Geez, will you get a grip already!’ Wufei barked. ‘He’s MINE! And I will keep him to myself. End of story. Now where is my father?’ he demanded, tucking Duo behind his back as the rest of the party caught up. Burakku huffed indignantly and rose up to his full and considerable height. ‘In the imperial garden awaiting your return,’ the dragon replied. ‘I could take you there if you like,’ he added, trying to sneak his head around Wufei so he could get at Duo again. ‘Have you ever flown with a dragon?’ he purred. ‘Christ! Bloody Dragons!’ Wufei blurted turning and ushering the braided boy into the housing behind them. ‘What was that all about?’ Hiiro asked, catching up to them. ‘Bloody creatures are hopeless,’ the Chinese boy growled. ‘I dunno,’ Duo smiled. ‘They seemed alright to me.’ Wufei stopped and glared at him for a moment. ‘You stay away from them,’ he told him, brooking no argument. ‘They fall hard and fast and you do not want to find out just how persistent they can be.’ ‘Why Duo?’ Hiiro asked, grinning knowingly. ‘Duh,’ Wufei grumped. ‘Hey,’ Hiiro interjected looking around. ‘Where’s Relena?’ ‘Burakku will have taken her to the mountains,’ Wufei replied. ‘She did accept their invitation. Good thing she’s cute or they’d be milling around outside the…’ his words trailed off as the tunnel they’d been following opened out into a huge garden where at least a dozen dragons awaited their arrival and turned to smile at them as they emerged and Wufei sighed. ‘Bloody dragons.’ he said softly, leading them down the garden path. Each of the beasts grinned and did their best to attract Duo’s attention, which the braided boy was eating up much to the chagrin of his Chinese lover. He’d even stopped to wave at a couple of them as they showed him their wings or blew smoke rings into the sky for his amusement. ‘Don’t encourage them!’ Wufei spat irritably, pulling him along. ‘Why not?’ Duo grinned. ‘That big black one offered me gems. I like gems, Fei.’ ‘Dragons have a very bad sense of time,’ the Chinese boy told him. ‘Burakku is over eight hundred years old. Your life is no more than the wink of an eye to them. You’d be too old to enjoy the wealth by the time they were satisfied with your company… if ever,’ he explained. ‘They treasure human beauty above all else, which is the main reason they allow us to live among them. You are a rare and intoxicating treat,’ he added, sidestepping Duo and pushing him into the hedge wall. ‘Young,’ he said softly, brushing his long bangs back from his sparkling eyes. ‘Beautiful,’ he added, ghosting his lips over his mouth and drawing a small moan from the boy that had every dragon in sight drooling at the mouth. ‘And gloriously ...male,’ Wufei added just before he kissed him. ‘They prefer men?’ Hiiro asked, looking around at the mesmerized beasts. ‘They prefer the company of men but they’re hopelessly infatuated with beauty,’ the Chinese boy corrected. ‘A boy like you is the rarest and most treasured of gifts,’ he said, smiling at the blushing boy in his arms. ‘No wonder you never tell him no,’ Hiiro mused. ‘Mm,’ Wufei agreed. ‘It’s practically against my religion,’ he chuckled, resuming their walk. Wufei kept one hand on Duo the entire way. Hiiro got the impression he wanted the dragons to see he was quite serious about his exclusivity statement, though it seemed to be doing little to deter the beasts, especially with Duo grinning at them. He chuckled as a well placed smile and wave sent two of them rolling along the hill fighting over who the boy had waved at then they were walking through a tall, vine covered archway and into a huge courtyard in the center of the garden. The scene was something out of a fairytale. In the center was a ring of benches surrounding a small pool. To one side was a huge mound of blood red scales that turned out to be a massive red dragon that was currently playing a game of chess with Trowa. A taller man with a shiny bald head sat beside them contemplating the game while Quatre was draped over the beast’s shoulder blades gazing at the misty sky. ‘Hiiro!’ the blond boy shouted suddenly, sliding down the dragon’s side to land lightly on the ground. The moment his feet touched he launched himself at the Japanese prince, kissing his face and mouth. ‘You’re alright!’ he gasped, smiling at the startled prince then turning his attention to their Chinese companion. ‘Wufei! You’re hurt?’ ‘Just a scratch,’ Wufei grinned as Quatre offered him a small, comforting kiss. ‘Welcome home, Master Chang,’ the old, bald man smiled. ‘It’s good to be back, Father,’ Wufei replied, taking the man’s hand as he inclined his head and touched one knee to the ground briefly. ‘Aaa, O-sama,’ the big, red dragon smiled, examining the group of boys. ‘Good fortune continues to follow our young wanderer. Do tell, dear Quatre, who might this young bauble be?’ he purred, laying his head down at Duo’s feet. ‘That’s Duo,’ the blond boy smiled, bouncing up to his side. ‘Duo, this is Aka, O-sama’s personal bodyguard and councilor. Isn’t he beautiful?’ he sighed. ‘Foxy,’ Duo grinned down at the beast. ‘You flatter me,’ the dragon chuckled, rolling his head upside down to expose his throat to the beautiful boy. Duo looked down curiously for a moment before Quatre fell to his knees and grinned, ‘Like this!’ as he started scratching under the dragon’s chin. ‘They like it when you scratch their throat,’ he explained happily as the beast’s chest began to rumble with a deep, thunderous purr. Duo smiled and knelt down on one knee, reaching out to scratch the softer, pearlescent plates under the red dragon’s chin. He chuckled as the beast groaned softly and his back leg started to tap the ground. ‘You’re a shameless lout!’ a low, throaty growl admonished as the garden suddenly swirled with the breeze kicked up by Burakku’s wings. ‘I saw him first!’ ‘Then why is he not with you?’ the red countered, not bothering to move from his delightful position as the boys continued to scratch him. ‘If it were not for a hastily offered invitation and the covetous nature of our good prince, he would be I assure you,’ the black grumbled, pushing the red over so he had to lift his head away from the boys. Wufei rolled his eyes and turned to his father, leaving the two dragons to fuss with each other. ‘How long can you stay?’ the tall man asked. ‘We need a safe place to regroup,’ Hiiro interjected. ‘Yeah,’ Duo added, still grinning at the bickering dragons as they argued over who had more to offer. ‘Sorry to barge in on ya like this but the Duke’s balls are getting a little to big for his briefs. We need to get our shit together.’ The King stood for a moment and blinked at the braided boy, then he blinked again and smiled. ‘Of course,’ he said finally. ‘You’ve come at a very good time, actually,’ he added, turning to smile fondly at the wrestling dragons. Burakku had Aka pinned lazily to the ground as they wallowed around gnawing on each other’s front legs and necks as they argued. ‘You already have Quatre’s attention, you selfish old goat,’ Burakku was growling. ‘What harm is there in offering Duo my affection as well?’ the red countered. ‘He wears my coat, I should have first dibs,’ the black insisted. ‘It’s Aka’s time at Kanmuri,’ the King finished. ‘Kanmuri?’ Hiiro asked. ‘The coming of age ceremony held by the Draconian Clan every ten years,’ Trowa interjected, stepping up beside them. ‘O-sama explained it to us when we arrived and Aka begged Quatre to attend.’ ‘Yeeeesssssssss,’ Burakku suddenly hissed, abandoning his rival and slithering back over to address the group of humans as Aka rolled lazily to his side and propped his head up on one foot. ‘You must come as well,’ he insisted, turning his glittering, yellow eyes ecstatically on Duo. ‘Me?’ Duo chuckled. ‘Why? What’s it all about?’ ‘Quatre has agreed to entertain us,’ the black grinned, letting his tongue slip out to taste the air around the blond boy. Quatre giggled as the thick, ash black appendage playfully tickled his thigh before it withdrew. ‘If you would join us as well this could be the finest Kanmuri in five hundred years,’ he grinned enticingly. ‘Entertain?’ Duo asked, eyeing his blond teammate suspiciously. ‘I’m going to dance,’ the blond replied without preamble as he fell into Duo’s arms and arched back into a low, over dramatized dip. ‘You want me to dance?’ the braided boy asked skeptically. ‘Sounds like a damn fine idea to me,’ Hiiro beamed, the glimmer in his dark blue eyes sending a shiver down Duo’s spine. ‘You want me to?’ Duo smiled, pulling Quatre back up. ‘Damn, we’re never going to get them off the planet,’ Wufei grumbled, brushing his hand over his face. ‘Lighten up, Fei,’ Quatre beamed. ‘It’ll be fun.’ ‘We have a war to win,’ the Chinese boy reminded them. ‘Oh, pish,’ the King brushed the comment away. ‘You have to be here anyway, you might as well attend. You’ll hurt Aka’s feelings. You know how fond he’s always been of you.’ ‘He tried to lock me in a cave and coerce me into becoming his personal ornament,’ Wufei grumbled. ‘Yes, yes,’ the man chuckled. ‘I recall it took us three days to find you. He’s always favored you.’ ‘I’m glad he’s finally outgrown it,’ the Chinese boy retorted. ‘I wouldn’t go that far,’ the King replied. ‘He still sleeps with your picture,’ he smiled as Wufei rolled his eyes. They were offered rooms in the palace where they could wash up, rest and work on their plan. Hiiro was going over the technical readouts for Libra’s main cannon again when Duo emerged from the bathroom. He felt his chest expand as his eyes took in the healthy tone of his skin and thought that he really didn’t get to see his lover’s skin often enough. It was a warm mixture of honey browns and pale creams all melding together over the tight musculature of the longhaired boy’s firm, young body. It made the hairs on his neck bristle just looking at him. He had to admit; he did have something in common with the dragons. For everything deeper that Duo was inside it didn’t change the fact that the boy was absolutely gorgeous. ‘Take down your hair,’ Hiiro said softly, lying back on the bed. ‘Hm?’ Duo hummed, draping his towel over the chair at the desk. ‘Take it down,’ Hiiro asked again. ‘Please?’ ‘What’s with you?’ Duo asked, reaching for the end of his long chestnut rope ‘I want to see you,’ the prince replied softly. The light in his eyes was one of wondrous curiosity. ‘You’re weirder than the dragons,’ the longhaired boy scoffed as he unwound the long tresses from their confinement. Hiiro watched as one by one the strands were freed and fell loosely around his lover’s softly glowing body. The room was dim as the evening began to fall but the sea of chestnut silk seemed to capture every tiny bit of light and magnify it as it reflected it back out into the world. Hiiro was reminded of the sea as he watched it fall about him in sheets of honey brown and golden highlights, transforming his lover into an ethereal creature only just barely held in this world. ‘My god, have you any idea how beautiful you really are?’ Hiiro sighed, standing to go to him. ‘Stop it,’ Duo blushed, glancing at the floor in his embarrassment. Hiiro stepped up in front of him and touched his chin, lifting his eyes so he could see into them. Duo’s breath caught when he saw the dark storms swirling in his lover’s sapphire eyes. Hiiro looked at him a moment, just memorizing his face before he bent to slowly kiss him, the tremor in his form drawing a soft sigh from his slender body. Duo wasn’t sure exactly why he was shaking so hard but the power in Hiiro’s touch was overwhelming and he found his knees going weak under the burning assault on his senses. ‘Hiiro?’ he whispered desperately. ‘Say it, Duo,’ Hiiro breathed, wrapping him in his arms so he could feel the delicious heat of his skin beneath his palms. ‘Please let me feel it again,’ he begged, drawing Duo’s quivering form up off the floor as he held him tight and buried his face in his loose hair. Duo sucked in a breath as his heart raced out of control. The heat was almost more than he could stand. It sent his mind spinning and his body into action as he crawled up into Hiiro’s arms, lacing one hand into the back of his hair as he whispered eagerly into his ear. ‘I love you.’ The words caused an eruption in the Japanese boy that drew a deep growl from his throat as he pushed him back against the wall of their room and began to kiss him wholeheartedly. Duo hissed under the sizzling affection, letting himself be drawn down into the flame as Hiiro took him. It was like the first time, no, better than the first time because now they knew each other’s hearts. ‘Hiiro,’ Duo whispered desperately, arching back into the wall. ‘I love you.’ ‘Yes,’ Duo breathed, falling helplessly into the mist. When things began to clear in Duo’s mind he found himself on Hiiro’s lap holding him tight where he knelt on the floor and hugged him. They were both dripping with sweat and wrapped up in the long tresses of Duo’s chestnut hair as it clung to them in the heat of the evening. ‘Wh...what... was that for?’ Duo panted, turning to kiss him under the ear. ‘Dance for me tonight,’ Hiiro asked, holding him even tighter. Duo chuckled softly and pulled back to make some flippant remark but the words died in his throat when he saw the wondrous look in his lover’s eyes. ‘For you,’ he smiled then kissed him softly as Hiiro rolled them over and pressed him into the floor. ‘Ah... gods ... yes,’ Duo hissed as his lover pushed him back into the mist. ‘Anything for you,’ he promised, arching back into the floor as Hiiro slowly rocked him into the night. ~ * ~ tbc... |
