tree and Duo intends to find out who. " Christmas Thief"
The tree had only been up for three days and two of the round, reflective decorations were already missing. The next day the green one was gone. Then the day after, the blue and gold ones were gone. At this rate, the there'd be no decorations left on the tree by the time Christmas rolled around. Duo was further confused when the gold one reappeared, but the decorative candy cane close by was gone. "Heero?" Duo nudged Heero, who was reading a magazine in his arms. "Hm?" "Do you notice something missing from the tree?" Heero glanced at the tree and turned back to his magazine. "The presents?" "That’s now what I meant." Duo studied the tree again. "Someone's been taking the ornaments." "Someone's been in our house?" Heero asked. "I don't know." Duo glared a little at the tree. "But I will find out." The following day after he returned home from a grocery run, Duo found that the star at the top of the tree had been taken. He smirked a little though; he'd planted a small camera on the star. Flipping open the screen of his laptop, he keyed in a code to study the sequence of events from when the camera was triggered by a proximity sensor he'd set up by the tree. The read out informed him that the camera had been triggered a mere two minutes before he'd entered the house. He watched in disbelief as Heero reached up to snag the star. The recording became a video of the floor as Heero walked out of the living room and up the stairs to their bedroom. Then, it was dropped, camera-lens down, onto the bed. Duo waited impatiently until the star was moving across the bedroom floor again. Then, he was surprised to see Heero's face smiling at the camera. Duo swallowed hard. Heero was holding the star as he stood in front of the full-length mirror in their room. The camera reflected the images from the mirror and Duo’s eyes zeroed in on the large bow around Heero’s neck, then traced the long ribbon trailing strategically around Heero’s toned, naked torso. The stolen ornaments hung from the ribbon and Duo’s eyes trailed down to where Heero had placed the candy cane. He licked his lips. Heero looked into the camera lens from the mirror. "Good job catching the Christmas thief," he said lazily. "Your Christmas present is waiting for you," he lifted the star up above his head. “Under the tree.” He tugged lightly at the bow and licked his lips. Then, the star was turned away from the mirror to face the wall across the room. It remained in that position, unmoving. Duo chuckled, eager to find his sly lover, and had the sense to key off the camera on his laptop before he shut it down and raced up the stairs. He'd replace ornaments and the star, sans camera, after he unwrapped his present.
Note: Duo was initially supposed to be the thief. Then somehow…it turned out this way. Hope it was equally enjoyable? @_@
