Disclaimer: I do not own Gundam Wing, nor do I
own the characters. I have borrowed them here for some fun and creativity,
and this is not for profit. I do, however, own the plot mentioned
here, and any instances that you may find similar to real life events
are purely a coincidence.

Notes: I've had no time to write because of school, and hardly any
time to even read. But this did come up after I ended my studying
of statistics today and I just had to write it down.

Summary: Heero remembers a quote from Duo and puts it into his perspective.
"Life Art"
There are times when Heero and I sit quietly whenever we have a few
spare moments. I like to just sit and think, about the past, the present,
and the future.
However, not so long ago Heero got himself a spiral-bound notebook
and during these times he began to sit and scribble in it. I have
to say he scribbles in it because I don't know what he's doing there
other than scratching away with a pencil. I've never seen what's in
it. Believe me, I've tried to look for the book just out of my own
curiosity, especially since he told me straight off that it was off
limits. I'm not one to invade another's privacy so I only searched
half-heartedly for it and only once, but I am curious about what he
could do with a notebook that he couldn't do with his trusted laptop.
It's one of those times now, and I sit at the windowsill across the
room from him. With my head propped up by my hand, elbow resting against
the sill, I stare outside at the drifting snow. Idly, I play with
the end of my braid.
I probably began to daydream because Heero's hand on my shoulder startled
me and I turned to look up at him. A small smile graced his lips and
I felt myself mentally capturing the image because his smiles are
still rare; and mostly saved for me. I rest my hand over his on my
shoulder.
"What's up?"
He handed the notebook to me but I didn't take it. For a moment we
just stared at each other, then I took the book.
"I thought you didn't want me to see what's inside?" I didn't open
the book.
"I didn't know what was going to be in it. But now, it's for you."
I nodded, not quite understanding. At his expectant gaze, I opened
the book to the first page and began to read.
It took me about forty-five minutes to flip through the pages. Heero
had sat down at my feet, leaning against my leg and tracing little
circles on the inside of my ankle as he waited for me to finish.
"Wow," I said softly. He'd filled the book with quotes he'd heard
and remembered from me, as well as little memories, his reflections
and brief sketches of me, some messier than others. The second last
page was a sketch of me looking out the window; I now knew that he
had been sketching me just then. The last page was a more detailed
sketch of me while I was asleep, slightly curled on my side.
"You wrote in pencil." I pointed out, noticing that some mistakes
he hadn't erased but had opted to just cross out. "So why didn't you
use an eraser?" I asked, gesturing to some of the mistakes as I slid
down to sit beside him. I wasn't implying that he was messy; I was
genuinely curious. He slid his arm around my shoulder and I snuggled
comfortably into his arms.
"You once said to me that life is drawing without an eraser," he murmured,
pointing to the back cover where he'd scribbled the quote at the bottom
along with a date. "So that's what I did. I drew my life without an
eraser." He gestured to the last page, the detailed image of me sleeping.
"You're my life, Duo."
I took his pencil and took some time to sketch the image of him sleeping
on the back cover, judging the distance I wanted and having him curl
facing me. It wasn't as detailed, but I do have some talent in sketching.
Heero patiently waited for me to finish, his hand grasping the end
of my braid loosely. I studied my rough, but relatively finished product.
When you looked at both pages and ignored the spiral binding in the
middle, it made a picture of us sleeping away from each other, both
curled in a similar fashion yet mirror images. Then, I slid the book
to the ground before I turned to wrap my arms around him, giving him
a brief kiss before I touched our foreheads and noses together.
"It seems weird that I sketched you far away from me, but we're touching
so long as the pages are touching. I judged the approximate distance
so you'd be spooned up right behind me," I whispered.
He tugged lightly on my braid, a smile gracing his lips again.
"I'll never need to erase anything, Duo, because I don't and won't
have regrets."
I sighed, content, before I replied. "No regrets, Heero," I echoed
quietly. "No erasing each other. Ever."
