Gundam boys, Wufei disappears. " Custos" Chapter 7 What do we do? Wufei looked to his lover. We get to the hangar. We don't know the situation. For all we know, someone set fire to the house, and if they did, there's a good chance that they set fire to the hangar, too, Quatre argued. Besides, you said four, maybe five minutes tops in the sun, right? Heero reminded him. It's a good ten minutes to the hangar. I don't see that we have much choice, he snapped. I'll see if the hangar's all right, Duo said, running into the den and shutting the door before pulling the boards from the window and looking in the direction of the hangar. There was no smoke coming from it. He dropped his gaze down and saw flames rising from the lower floor windows. A lone figure stood, smirking up at him. He threw the window open. What the hell are you doing? The woman curtsied. A greeting, from the one who will become your master. What? He waits for you, Duo Maxwell. The woman laughed and ran off at a speed that was far from a humans abilities. He pushed away the odd encounter as he returned to the others. We've got to get out of here now, guys. The hangar appears fine. Wufei nodded and grabbed the sheet from the bed, grimacing as he found it covered with the results of his and Quatre's activities. Quatre ran to the closet and pulled out a fresh one. Wufei took a slow breath as he gripped the sheet and looked to the others. Duo, get to the plane and have it ready for take-off by the time we get there. The braided man nodded and he and Zechs headed for the un-boarded window. Trowa looked to Heero and his lover nodded. Go with them. Quatre and I will make sure Wufei makes it. Trowa nodded and pressed his lips to Heero's hotly before following after the other two out the window to shimmy down the lattice work and jump the remaining feet to avoid the flames. He spared a glance up to the window before taking off at a run toward the hangar. Wufei doubled the sheet and threw it over his head and shoulders before moving into the room with Heero and Quatre. The sun pouring through the window was enough to make his breathing pick up a notch in trepidation. He ground his teeth and leapt from the window between Heero and Quatre. They landed hard and took off at a run. Wufei's knees almost buckled as the heat of the rays hit the sheet, but he forced himself to keep moving. After a few minutes, he was almost sobbing. Oh gods, oh gods... I can't. Just a little more, Quatre whispered. Wufei slumped heavily into him and he looked to Heero. He shook his head and Wufei groaned as he was lifted from the ground without warning. He clenched his teeth. Damn it, Heero, he whispered. Just stay quiet. We're almost there. They reached the jet as Duo had it ready for take off. We're in! Heero screamed as Quatre kicked the stairs out of the way and slammed the door shut. The pain didn't leave as Heero lay him on the floor and removed the sheet. Wufei struggled to breath and could hardly move. Glazed onyx eyes gazed up at Quatre as the blond knelt beside him. 'Quatre.' I'm here. He lifted Wufei's shoulders, kissing him quickly before pressing his neck to Wufei's lips. A moan escaped the vampire. 'Can't.' Quatre frowned. What do you mean you can't? Come on. 'Too weak... my fangs won't come out... it was too much.' Quatre jerked up and stared down into his pale face. He shook his head and dug in his pocket for his knife. The others watched in shock as Quatre slashed a gash across the mark Wufei had given him and pulled Wufei's lips to the spot. Drink, damn it. We're not dying now. We haven't even started. They held their breath as, after a long few seconds, Wufei began feeding. This time, however, there was no pleasure for Quatre and he clenched his teeth, holding Wufei tighter. He closed his eyes and bit his lip. Wufei pulled away and Zechs eyes widened as fangs extended, sinking into the torn skin of Quatre's neck. Instantly, the pain faded from his face and his lips curved up softly. 'I'm sorry,' Wufei's voice echoed in his mind. 'It's all right.' Wufei pulled away and closed the wound, looking up into Quatre's eyes. That was close, he said weakly. Too close. He leaned down and pressed his lips to Wufei's. Don't ever scare me like that again. I'll try not to, he whispered. Is Fei all right? Duo asked over the intercom, unable to open the door to find out due to the sunlight that filled the cockpit. Looks like it, Zechs answered, a little shaken. He'd accepted that Wufei was what they said he was, but to actually watch him suck blood was a bit unnerving. Quatre helped Wufei into a sitting position and let him rest against his chest. I will be. What's the plan here? Might as well head to Alaska. Wufei sighed. I hope this isn't an omen about how the rest of this trip is going to go. It isn't, Quatre admonished. His phone rang and he shifted Wufei to reach the pocket it was in. Rashid... Yes, we got out in time... No, I don't know how it happened... We're leaving the country... You don't need to know. His expression darkened. This is not his fault, and, if you must know, he's the only one of us hurt. I'm hanging up now. He flipped the phone closed and clenched it in his fist. Wufei gently squeezed his arm. He's just worried about you. That doesn't give him the right to blame you for the estate burning down. It was my fault. No, it wasn't, Duo's voice came over the speaker, somewhat shaken. It was mine. Why do you say that? Heero asked. He cleared his throat. There was a woman outside the window. She... said it was a greeting from 'the one who would be my master'. He paused for a moment. She knew my name and said he was waiting for me. Zechs looked to Wufei. How is Duo involved in this? The vampire shook his head. I didn't know he was. His eyes narrowed as he looked at the door that lead to the cockpit. What do they know that we don't? I'd rather not find out, Duo announced. Heero pursed his lips. Do you think there's any way you can invoke a vision? I don't know. I've never tried. And you're too weak to try now. I didn't mean right now, Quatre. He nodded and rubbed his forehead wearily. Do we have any food on board? I'll check. Trowa disappeared into the back and down the winding stairs to the baggage hold and galley beneath the main cabin. The blond dropped his cheek to the top of Wufei's head. I thought you said the hunger wouldn't be as bad after the mating. It wouldn't normally, but this was too close together. Your blood will reproduce more quickly, but its only been a few hours since the last time. Hm. He closed his eyes and sighed. Within moments, exhaustion outweighed hunger and they were both asleep. Zechs smirked. I never would have thought it, but they're actually a nice couple. Heero nodded. This thing with Duo, exactly how did that happen? The blond shrugged. It just developed over time. We had quite a few assignments together. He's a hard person to ignore. Heero smiled. I suppose he is. Y'all do realize I'm listening, right? Zechs snorted. It's rude to eavesdrop. It's either that or sit up here bored out of my mind. Is there going to be any way to get food to me? I ain't ate since yesterday morning. Trowa went to look for food. I'll go see if he found anything. Zechs wondered down to where Trowa was digging through a small fridge and pulling out various items. He glanced to Zechs. There isn't much. A few apples and enough bread and lunch meat for two skimpy sandwiches. Duo hasn't had anything since yesterday morning. He and Quatre can eat, then. Heero and I will be find for a while. What about you? I'm good. He tilted his head to a case of water. Can you take that up? I'll get these made and be right up. All right. He returned to the cabin and pulled out a bottle for himself, tossing one to Heero. Thanks. There's only enough food for two. We figured Quatre and Duo should get it. Heero nodded. That's fine. Zechs stared at the cockpit door. I really don't like them knowing Duo. Me either, but they do. And we need to find out why. Heero's eyes narrowed as he gazed at Wufei and Quatre. We need to know what else Wufei has locked up in those visions. Trowa came up with two plates and sat one by Quatre, handing the other to Zechs. He grabbed the sheet and held it up to the ceiling, blocking the door. Get in quickly. He nodded and ducked into the cockpit. Duo glanced over his shoulder, grinning. You are a life saver. He sat in the copilot's chair. Thank Trowa, he made it. Thanks Tro! Welcome. Duo set the plane to autopilot. Zechs shook his head as his boyfriend devoured the pitiful sandwich and apple. Wha-? he asked around a mouthful. 'M a growin' boy. He grunted. I hope not. Duo smirked after he swallowed. Aw, are you still sore I gained an inch on you? Half an inch, the blond muttered. Duo finished his water and leaned over the armrest. You're cute when you pout. I'm not cute... nor am I pouting. Laughter drifted over the comm link between the main cabin and the cockpit and Duo shut it off. You're both, accept it and move on. Pale blue eyes bore into violet. Why can't you give it a try? What? Letting you top me? Duo shook his head and looked out the thick glass to the sprinkling of clouds beneath them. He sighed. I guess it's my proper place, huh? Zechs started. What? He waved his hand toward the blond. Prince. He pointed to himself. Street rat. The blond's eyes widened. It's nothing like that, Duo. I swear. He gave the blond a tight smile. It's all right. I'm used to it. When I joined Preventers there was this guy who asked me out. I didn't advertise that I was a Gundam pilot, but when he asked where I was from, I told him L2. He looked back out the window, lips turning down at the edges. He got it into his head that I had to have been pretty easy seeing as how, as he put it, I must have been popular with the johns. Zechs gaped. He actually said that? Where did he get the nerve? Duo smirked. Dunno, but he lost the nerve when I broke his arm. He cut his eyes back to the blond. I never sold myself, Zechs. In fact... I'm a virgin, if you must know. He tilted his head to the side. Is that why you don't want to bottom? He raised an eyebrow. Between the two of us, you're the only one who has experience in that particular department. He shook his head. I should've never told you about Treize. Duo laughed. But it's important to be honest with each other, don't you think? Yeah. He nodded slowly, studying the beautiful man next to him. Looking at him now, no one would suspect where he had grown up. He didn't buy name brands or fill his apartment with expensive things. His main vanity was in his mustang, but even that was only as gorgeous as it was after hours of work put into it by the man himself. He'd bought the car from a junkyard for five hundred dollars and managed to bring it from clunker to classic. He grimaced. The car had probably been burned up in the fire. His thoughts shifted to what Duo had said earlier about them knowing who he was. What did the woman look like? Huh? The one who said her master was waiting for you. Oh. His brows drew together. Kinda nondescript. Brown hair and eyes. Average height. She was too fast to be human, though. I wonder what they want with you. He shook his head. Like I said earlier, I'd be happy not knowing. Saying I have a master waiting on me kinda freaks me out worse than watching Wufei suck Quatre's blood. Zechs smirked. I don't know. I found that a bit erotic. Duo snorted. You would. He grinned and batted his lashes. If I ever became a vampire would you like me to suck your blood? He laughed. Sure why not. ****** Wufei's brows drew together as an image appeared in the darkness of his sleep. Slowly the vision brightened to reveal a man sitting atop a stone building, watching people dancing on the ground around a large fire. They were dressed in ancient clothes and singing in a language Wufei didn't understand. The figure stood, his naked body moving fluidly across the edge of the roof. Upon his back was what appeared to be a tattoo that spanned across his shoulder blades and down his spine in an intricate pattern. He looked over his shoulder, as if peering straight into Wufei's soul. Death's kiss, he breathed. Wufei's eyes flew wide as the image evaporated. He sat up and looked over his shoulder to find Quatre's blue eyes meeting his own. Death's kiss? Quatre muttered. Who was he? Wufei shook his head. I don't know. Was it a warning? He licked his lips, an uneasy feeling forming in the pit of his stomach. I don't think so. TBC....
