SHADOWS AND LIGHT: AN UNBREAKABLE BOND:
Heero arrived at Duo's house at Ten-forty-five and knocked on the door. Everyone's cars were in the driveway and Heero did NOT want to interrupt Quatre and Trowa if they were doing anything more than kissing this time. Wufei answered the door and then walked back to the couch, letting Heero walk in and close the door behind himself. "Is Duo asleep?" Wufei shrugged and Quatre smiled and waved while Trowa nodded from his place at Quatre's side on the STILL cushionless couch upon which they were watching TV. Heero smiled to them and then went straight to Duo's room. What he saw made him stop and watch. Duo was doing the martial arts exercises Heero had seen him do. He was able to stand on his own, though he was still obviously shaky, and he was moving his left arm. "You're arm is better?" Duo startled and fell over, waving his arms in the air to try to stay upright but falling onto his butt nonetheless. "Sorry." He said as he winced and stood. "Caught me by surprise. I was in the zone." Heero shook his head. "You look better." Duo smiled as he nodded and continued to stand on shaking legs. "Yeah. My arm is nothing more than a bad sprain right now. And my ribs are fully healed. I feel great." Heero grinned and picked him up, depositing him on the bed and sitting by him. "Yeah. It's good to see you moving around on your own, but you still have to take it easy. Ok?" "Ok, Ok." Duo said, slightly exasperated. "I promise not to over-exert." "Good." Heero kissed his cheek. "So I was talking with my buddy Doug today." Duo smiled faintly as he looked to him from his peripheral vision. "That's funny. I know a guy named Doug." Heero waited for a moment before speaking. "Same Doug." Duo smirked. "I DON'T think so, Heero." "Wavy blondish-brownish hair with light brown eyes? Kinda scruffy looking and does internship as a nurse at the hospital?" Duo's eyes widened. "Wait. How do YOU know him?" "He's just my only buddy. Or at least WAS until I met you and the others. I have a few friends but most are iffy. He's the only guy who sticks by me." Duo stared forward. "Um. Heero, he knows about... He knows everything." "I know." Heero said quietly. "He said he was your dealer." Duo paled visibly. "Sou ka." Heero hugged him tightly to himself. "Pretty big coincidence, ne?" Duo chuckled. "Ah. Understatement of the year right there." Heero laughed as he realized something for the first time. One of Duo's eyebrows raised in confusion as he paid him an odd look. Heero shook his head. "I just realized. The reason we ever met in the first place was because of Doug. I lent him my laptop to type that history project on. We both have the same class. Remember the thesis paper you wrote?" Duo nodded with a faint smile. "Yeah, well he borrowed my computer so he could do the project while I was at work that day. His computer had just contracted a virus and he didn't want to use it until he got it fixed." Duo's eyes were wide. "Computers get sick?" Heero chuckled. "Ah. Man-made, electronic viruses. They can fuck up your machine if you've got one. Or just delete all your stuff." Duo looked forward and processed that information. "Segoi." Heero kissed his cheek. "Yeah, well, anyway, the reason I was even ON that road where I saw you in your car was because I was going to Doug's house to get my laptop back." He mused at that. "I guess I should thank him next time I see him." Duo smiled and kissed him lightly. "So how is he? I haven't seen him in a while." Heero smiled. "Broke. He wants you to give him a call." "Yeah, that's cause I tip him well." Duo said with a smirk. "He's gonna have to wait till later. Not too much later but not for another couple of weeks anyway. Q gave me some..." He trailed off. Heero decided to leave the subject behind. "So... Just how much better DO you feel? I mean..." He ghosted kisses in Duo's hair and nibbled on his earlobe. Duo's head fell back and he gave a nearly silent moan. "They're right outside, Hee-kun. Mn." Heero smirked as he kissed him. 'Then you'll just have to keep from making those incredibly sexy whimpers and moans.' A mental smirk. "Yosha. But we do this my way. It's much more quiet." Heero nodded. 'Ok.' * * * Heero fell back against the headboard, breathing heavily. Duo was collapsed against his chest, panting for air and still straddling his hips, sitting in his lap, facing him. He rested his head against Heero's shoulder and tried to catch his breath. "Wow." Heero whispered. "Uh...huh..." Duo confirmed as he continued to pant. "Wow." "...Ah..." After a few moments of silence save for heavy breathing, Duo chuckled softly. Heero smiled. "What's so funny?" Duo snickered. "We just had sex with everyone else in the next room." Heero rubbed his back. "So?" "That's all." He giggled. Now Heero giggled. "So just how many...uh...positions are there anyway?" Moving back, but not far enough for Heero to withdraw, Duo grinned. "A whole lot." His tone became a bit quiet. "A lot of them are dominance/submission things, though, and if you don't mind, I'd like to avoid those." His eyes held a small amount of sadness but it was well covered. "This one is one of the more intimate ones. And then there is the perk of the bed not creaking so much or the headboard hitting the wall." Heero nodded and smiled as he leaned forward and kissed his hair. 'I love it here. I don't want to leave.' "So don't. Who's making you?" Heero groaned softly as Duo ground against his abdomen and put his hands on Duo's hips to keep him still. "You're insatiable." Duo grinned. "I told you that once I was strong enough, you wouldn't get out of my bed without a fight. I don't lie." He ground against him again and Heero moaned softly. "You need to rest. We can do more of this later." Duo kissed his way down his neck in a gentle caress, running one hand through his hair while the other tweaked a nipple gently, his actions sending powerful shocks through Heero to his groin. Heero hissed, against all laws of physics, feeling himself grow hard again and causing Duo to moan softly. He involuntarily began to thrust upwards slightly, into his lover. "No fair." He said, only halfhearted in his conviction as his head fell back against the headboard. "Mn." Duo kissed him passionately. "Ai shite ieru, Heero." 'Ai shite ieru, Duo-kun.' And Heero lost the battle. * * * Heero walked into the kitchen when Duo had passed out after their second bout of lovemaking. He was hungry and thirsty and intended to do something about it. He found Quatre sitting at the table with a half empty glass of blood and reading the newspaper. The blonde glanced at him and then back to the blood, moving it to behind the newspaper and out of Heero's line of sight. "So how is he?" Heero smiled. "He's asleep. Did you guys go out?" He asked as he took out a cup and filled it with water, drinking the stuff and profoundly enjoying it. Quatre shook his head. "Iye. We cannot hunt every night. Not only would all our targets be depleted, but it may cause too much suspicion. And I can't take him hunting if he is unconscious." He said with a smile and Heero knew it was a joke. Quatre actually had a sense of humor. It was much more subtle and gentle than Duo's but it was there. Heero smiled brightly. "I suppose that makes sense." He turned his back and took some things out of the refrigerator. There wasn't much food left and what was left was going to go bad very soon. He made himself a sandwich at the counter, keeping his back turned tactfully so Quatre could finish his meal as well, and then put what he didn't use back in the fridge. As he did so, he heard Quatre washing something and then something being put in the cupboard. Deciding it was safe to turn around, he picked up his sandwich and headed to the table. "So what's going on in the world lately? I've been out of the loop." Quatre smiled wryly. "You mean aside from this pointless war? Nothing much save for crooked politicians and this new Homeland Security stuff." He wrinkled his nose. "Some of the ideas these people put forth are just so...wrong." Heero nodded as he took a bite of the sandwich. "Yeah. This whole deal about monitoring stuff like where we go on the internet is just obscene." Quatre nodded emphatically. "Yes! Yes! I find it ridiculous." Heero smiled. "Well, don't worry. This phase can't last forever." Quatre shook his head. "That IS what I'm worried about." Raising an eyebrow, Heero paid him a confused look. Quatre sighed. "Things have just gotten worse and worse over the years. Most of it is covered up. At least in the old days, one knew where he stood. Now, everything is hidden behind a sugar coating and it is difficult to tell what is what anymore. Smoke screens. And it will only go down hill from here as has history shown." He paid Heero a meaningful look. "History repeats itself. And I have seen it do so countless times." Heero squirmed in that gaze, feeling skewered. "Anou What do you mean?" Giving him a measuring look, Quatre waited for long moments before speaking softly. "Nothing. Just... Let him come to terms with things on his own. He will decide and see that of which you've been trying to convince him. But that will be much later. You understand what I mean, yes?" Heero's eyes were wide as he nodded. "I understand." Quatre smiled sadly. "Good. Don't you two go breaking away from each other. It would kill him." And with that, he excused himself from the table to leave Heero with silence ringing in his ears and a sandwich he suddenly didn't feel like eating. He rose from his chair to go see Duo who was asleep with a small smile playing at his lips. His bandage had a small spot of blood on it from his exertions but it was very small and did not worry Heero too much. Duo was resilient. He could handle it. 'Maybe we should just never go out to town again. It seems that whenever we do, something always comes up. I'll certainly be avoiding that hex of a movie theater for a while. Che.' He crawled back into bed, wanting to hold his beloved. He circled his arms around Duo and smiled when he cuddled closer to him in his sleep. * * * After a few hours, Duo awoke with kittenish yawn and smiled lazily up at Heero. "Nnn..." He snuggled against him. "Hee-kun..." Heero smiled. "Well. You look happy." Duo grinned. "Yep." He checked his watch. "It's late. Did you go to sleep yet?" "No. I've been dozing. I was actually waiting to ask you something." Duo yawned again. "Ah?" "When are we going to burn the clothes?" Duo grimaced. "Aw, crap, I forgot. How does now strike you?" "Now is good." Heero smiled and kissed his hair, getting up from the bed and watching as Duo did as well with only minor difficulties. Duo began to walk to the door when Heero stopped him. "You can't." Duo raised an eyebrow. "Oh? And why is that?" Heero smirked. "It's a good reason. Look down." Duo looked down and blushed as he realized that, save for his watch and unbound hair, he was stark naked. "Oh. You're right. That IS a good reason." He picked up the clothing off the floor and quickly dressed himself. When he sat down to put on his shoes, Heero braided his hair neatly, having gotten much better at it with practice. Duo smiled to him and the two walked into the living room. "Ok, Q." Quatre turned to them from the book he was reading on the couch and smiled. "Ah?" "Let's burn the clothes. What did you do with them?" "I did not want to risk burning them in the day as, should a fire spread to the house, you would be doomed so they are in a hefty bag in the kitchen under the sink." Duo smiled wryly in thanks and walked into the kitchen, taking the small, black hefty bag out of the under-sink cupboard and carried it over to the door. The others followed him and all went out to the back of the house where there was a patch of dirt. Duo overturned the bag and the bundle of both his and Heero's clothes fell out onto the bare ground. He then dropped the bag onto the pile and returned to where the group had stopped a few yards back. He turned to Heero. "You want to do the honors?" Heero nodded grimly and raised a hand, forming a large Ki ball of blue-white light and hurling it to the pile. The clothing immediately caught fire and began to burn. Heero leaned against Duo who put an arm around his waist as he watched the clothing burn to nothing. 'I will see that last mark burn this way as well.' Heero vowed to himself. 'Slowly. And by my hand.' The group of friends and lovers watched as the fire died down to nothing and all that was left was ashes and smoke. Heero felt a little better when the clothes were no more. As if, in a small way, he could move on from that night. Duo tightened his arm around him and they all headed back to the house when the smoke was no more. Heero turned to him when they were all once again indoors. Duo smiled sadly and butted his head against him. "You have to go to bed, Hee-kun." "I don't have school tomorrow." "Oh?" He nodded. "My classes canceled for a board meeting." He said with a smirk. Duo grinned. "Cool. What do you all want to do?" Heero pointed at the video game system that Trowa had brought back with him. Duo looked to Trowa who nodded with a small smile and then grinned anew. "Ok. You guys think I could give it a go this time?"
