a LOT of revision, and half a bottle Chardonnay, I decided to post
this fic. I've been avoiding it like the plague. I had to get through
half a bottle before I could even open it to revise. Oh, man, you
guys are gonna kill me after I divided it into three parts. Um... I changed things a bit. Well, I hadn't really seen much of the show when this was written so a few things are made up. Gomen, ne? This was written for the emotional impact, not the technical so if that bugs you, again, don't read it. It is sad. I didn't like typing this. It was more of a chore than anything else. I wasn't exactly in a happy place while writing this. Oh, I gave Rashid Tallgees cuz at the time, I was having fun hating Zechs. Anything else that needs explaining will either be posted with the next two chapters or you can email me and tell me that I left something out and I will reply and tell you what you need to know. I can't really think of what else to say here. I guess "I'm sorry" sounds good. Rolls off the tongue nicely and conveys what I'm trying to put forth. So, I'm sorry. There, I said it. Don't kill me. * * * * * = flashback * * * * * * * * * * = flashback WITHIN a flashback * = perspective change * * * time/perspective/place change (any combination

Sayonara Part 1 It had been nearly a year. He knelt in the dirt, watching as the sun set. Anyone else would have found it breath-taking. But Heero Yuy paid no heed. He stared fixedly at the stone tablet in front of him. 'It seems so much longer.' He thought, picking up some dirt to look at it in his hand, then letting it sift through his fingers to fall back to the ground, sounding somewhat like dry rain. 'I suppose that's my doing. I let it seem so. Out of weakness. It's human nature. Who am I to change that? He taught me to be human.' He thought of the things Quatre had said to him the night before. 'I'm stalling.' He thought sadly. 'This needs to be done... But... Can I exceed to the task? This hurts. Why should I do it if it hurts?' Heero thought for a moment. 'Because I have to.' He looked at the setting sun again. A strong gust of wind with the faintest scent of rain blew Heero's hair to the side and made him shudder slightly. He fingered the small, silver ring in his hand, thoughtfully. "I miss you..." He said softly to the gravestone, still gazing at the sunset.
It was a beautiful Summer night outside. The moon shone
down to shade the Arabian land in silvery dark blues and blacks. The
silhouette shadows of the small, imported trees being cast on the
ground from Nowhere else was night as beauteous as on Earth. Even Heero had to marvel at it. Heero was in his bedroom, one of the many at Quatre's mansion, sitting upon the bed, typing on his_ ".........accursed laptop!" He smiled at that. His other had given it that name when he was particularly frustrated. Like now. "Seriously, Heero. It's almost One a.m. You have to put that damn thing away before your eyes start to bleed!" Duo whined. "I mean, really, I can think of better things for you to do." He added in a sultry voice. "Hn......" Was all the response he got, accompanied by the sound of more keys clicking as Heero continued to type. Duo paused in brushing his wet hair and looked at him for a moment. "Heeeeeerrrrrrrrrooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" He whined in the most nagging manner possible. "I'm almost done with this report. It can wait." "YOU have BEEN working on that fucking report for
the last DAY AND A HALF!!!!!!" Duo complained. "Last night
I had to get off in the SHOWER for god's sakes! Can't you take a break?!"
He harassed, "Keep it down will you, Baka?" Heero asked calmly, not looking up from his work. "Heeeeerrrrrooooooooooo.........." Moaned Duo, dropping the brush to the floor and stroking himself to put on a show for his partner. "Hai, hai, hai." Heero said, putting the laptop on the floor, plugging it in to charge the battery and tucking it under the bed. It had been getting harder and harder to keep it balanced in his lap anyway. "I can finish it tomorrow." * Duo squealed and jumped on him with a passionate kiss. "I love you ya know." He said, looking expectantly at Heero. His heart fell slightly when he heard Heero's reply. It was the reply he was always given. "Hn. I know." Heero closed his eyes and returned the kiss. Duo responded, but his deep violet eyes remained open, staring at Heero sadly, then moving to gaze at the ring that appeared new and lay upon the nightstand, a tear just beginning to form in one.
The next morning found Duo snoring softly in bed and Heero sipping coffee, sitting at the the vanity dresser, finishing up his report. He was a few paragraphs away from being finished when he heard a yawn from the bed along with the rustle of blankets being moved. "Ohaiyo." He said taking another sip of his
coffee and not looking at his waking partner. 'This stuff is bad.'
He thought looking at the brown liquid, He could see grains floating
around in it. And it tasted horrendous. He didn't customarily drink
coffee. He ate healthy, when he found time to eat, that is. He knew
he needed to Duo reached out a hand and took the coffee cup off the vanity dresser. Heero heard a few gulping noises. Not many. "YEACHK!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Duo proclaimed. 'I guess I'm not too off in thinking that coffee is obscene.' Heero smirked slightly, taking in Duo's reflection within the large mirror before him for brief moment before returning his attention to his work. The expression upon Duo's face was that of nausea and disgust. "Oh GOD! What the hell is this?!' "I think it's coffee." Said Heero. "Yeah and I think my esophagus is melting." Replied Duo. "MAN! SOMEONE needs to teach Wufei how to make a decent cup o' joe! This is VILE!" Wufei was the first one to wake every morning. He would do Katas as the sun rose. So naturally he made the coffee. And naturally, as it was woman's work, he was never any good at it. Just then there was a knock at the door. "You get it, I have to go mouth rinse." Said Duo, putting the cup of poison back in its matching saucer and stalking off to the bathroom, cursing about the foul taste in his mouth. Heero stood up and strode to the door. Turning the handle, he opened it just as Quatre was about to knock a second time. "Ohaiyo." Quatre smiled brightly to him from the doorway. "Ohaiyo." Replied Heero, not as brightly. "There's a call for Duo down stairs. Is he awake yet?" "Hn." He said, nodding towards the bathroom, where gargling noises could be heard and in between gargles, muttered curses targeting Wufei. The Arabian blushed when he picked up on a few choice phrases. "What happened to him?" "Coffee." "Oh." Quatre said with a sympathetic smile. "Gomen nasai...Anou, Can you have him come down as soon as possible, please? It's kind of urgent." He asked Heero, still blushing and looking at the floor shyly for the string of curses had yet to falter. "Hai. Arigato." Heero said as he shut the door. "Phone." He called into the bathroom. "Oh, for me? Huh." Said Duo, snapped out of
his foul mood just that simply. Walking out of the bathroom, he moved
to put on some clothes as he couldn't walk down stairs naked. He could
have, but Heero might 'Well, at least the coffee woke him up.' Although Heero doubted that it was the caffeine. It was most likely the foul taste that had roused his partner so efficiently. He took another sip of the bad coffee and grimaced. ''Wufei really needs to learn how to make coffee. Maybe I'll do it from now on. Maybe not.' * "Ohaiyo." Said Quatre as Duo bounded down the stairs. In the living room, Trowa was sitting on the couch,
drinking tea and reading the paper. He nodded once at Duo in greeting.
Snuggled up against him was Quatre, who was reading an old, worn looking
book. In 'Damn, whenever I wanna chew him out for something, he's meditating. I think he knows I'm planning on it and uses meditation as an excuse, the prick.' He thought bitterly. "Good morning, Q." He said cheerfully out loud. "Where's the phone?" "Over on the counter in the kitchen." Replied the blonde. Duo bounced into the kitchen and picked up the phone lying on the tile counter. "Hello?" * * * Half an hour later, Duo emerged looking somewhat jostled, his hair haphazardly braided as if it had been done in a hurry, or he had not been paying attention to what he had been doing. He was walking quickly, holding a few food items, and had an air of urgency about him. Quatre was about to ask what was wrong but Duo was sprinting up the stairs. This had the Arabian worried. * "Heero, I have to go on a mission. It won't take long, I'll be back tomorrow." Said Duo as he packed his bag with clothing, bandages, toiletries and some food he'd taken from the kitchen. As he packed, he looked sadly to the ring that lay neglected upon the nightstand. He headed down the stairs as soon as he had completed the task, barely giving Heero time to blink, much less contemplate the words he had just said. * "Nani? What of the rest of us?" Asked Heero, words finally processing, following Duo down the stairs. "No. It doesn't concern you." Replied the American pilot. "I'll be back tomorrow." Heero stopped and watched his lover go with a coldness in his blood. He felt a sudden urge to stop his lover from leaving, but he could not understand why. So he did nothing. Simply stood there and watched Duo go. "Duo...' * Once at the bottom of the staircase, Duo came upon a trio of worried pilots consisting of Rashid, Quatre and Trowa. Wufei hadn't moved from his spot in the corner and gave no indication that he took note of the goings on. "Where are you going?" Asked Quatre. "I'll explain everything when I get back."
Replied the American. "I'll see you all tomorrow, really."
He walked to the door but turned back in the doorway, one hand holding
the door handle, the other his bag, and looked at Quatre who smiled,
Rashid who bowed, Trowa who nodded, and his love who simply stood
there with an emotionless expression on his face. He smiled to each
in turn. Then, with a disgruntled look upon his heart shaped face,
said in the direction of Wufei. "Hey, Wufei, I've been meaning
to tell you, your Wufei, without opening his eyes or changing his posture, breathing or expression in the least, replied without a beat, "That's because I piss in it, Maxwell." Duo knew he wasn't serious, and, though he knew Wufei couldn't see through closed eyes, he shot him a snide look despite himself. He looked back at all the other pilots, and at his lover, twisting the ring on his finger nervously. Satisfied with something, he walked out completely and shut the door behind him. * * * That night Heero couldn't sleep. He kept wondering if Duo was alright. 'I'm never going to sleep at this rate.' He thought, frustrated. He "humphed" and pulled the blankets up over his head. 'He's fine. He has to be.' He repeated that like a mantra until the words had lost all meaning and he finally drifted off, only to have his sleep interrupted again and again by the same dream from the night prior. * * * The news came the next afternoon. One of Rashid's men had been enlisted as an OZ soldier for reasons of espionage. The man named Kahba came to the door and over a cup of tea, explained the situation. Duo had been on his way to L2. There had been a small skirmish by their standards, but Professor G was caught in the middle of it. When Duo was only one hundred and twenty kilometers from the colony, his Gundam had been intercepted. It had all been a trap. Oz had had many mobile suits present, so it was obvious that they had hoped for the other pilots to accompany him on his mission. They had taken the colony hostage and promised no casualties in return for his surrender. Duo cooperated. He, as of now, as far as they knew, was in Oz's care. OZ had given out the news to all its soldiers to boost moral. They had, however, neglected to speak of the location at which they were keeping their prisoner. When Heero heard the news, he was devastated. 'He...he...Oz...Oz... Oz has Duo. Oz has Duo. Oz has Duo!!!!!!!!!!!!! No, I just... This isn't real; this is the dream, I just have to wake up. Wake up. Wake up. Wake up! WAKE UP!!!! PLEASE WAKE UP!!!!!!' He screamed in anguish, breaking down in front of the other pilots, falling to his knees, shoulders shaking, deep blue eyes wide and dilated, looking for all the world, insane. Quatre stepped forward and placed a hand on Heero's shoulder. Heero moved away from the hand and, after taking a moment to compose himself, stood with fire in his eyes. "I'm going." The others stared in stunned silence for a moment and Heero took the opportunity to sprint up the staircase to pack his few belongings. * * * "Heero!" Quatre called after him, having come
out of his shocked silence. Once Heero was visible again, he pleaded
with him. "Heero, I know you're worried, but you can't go after
him. Not alone. And besides, he'll be fine. We've all been prisoners
of OZ at one point or another. And we're all still here." All
of this was said while Heero walked past them, holding his duffel,
paying no heed to what was said, save for the last sentence uttered
by the Arabian, which made him look angrier if at all possible, and
forced a reply from his "You forget, Winner, Oz tried to kill Duo and Wufei in that prison cell." Said Heero, as he stormed to the door. "Yuy! You know you can't help him! We don't even
know where he is! We need to get more information and formulate a
plan rather than run out half cocked!" Wufei shouted at Heero's
back. "Get a hold of yourself, Yuy!" When Heero slowed to
a halt and slumped in a defeated manner in the doorway, Wufei eased
slightly. "Look, Heero. Just give us some time. We'll think of
the best way to help Maxwell as soon as Heero turned back with tears in his eyes. "Hontou ni?" He asked. All the pilots nodded with hopeful looks on their faces. "Yosha." Heero's voice was quiet and resigned. They all stood there for a few more moments, no one daring to say a word. Heero stood in the doorway, the soon to set sun casting its light orange rays past him into the house, framing him in ethereal light. He looked like an ancient painting of a divine creature such as an angel. He began to shake, then sway. They all watched as Heero's eyes glazed and rolled up into his head as he fell to the floor with a dull thud. "Nani?!" Quatre rushed forward to his fallen friend. He checked Heero for a pulse. Though fast, it was steady and strong. He saw that Heero's breathing was slow and even. "He passed out." Quatre looked harder at Heero and noted the dark circles under his eyes and the paleness of his skin. 'Oh, he hasn't slept well for a while. That's Heero: Always pushing himself too hard. I guess this was just the last straw.' "Rashid, would you carry him upstairs, please. He needs rest." He said to Rashid, who nodded wordlessly and moved to lift the unconscious pilot off the floor. * * * ///'Where is this? It's dark. Why is everything blue?' Heero wondered as he walked along a wall of nothing, in a land of nothing with a sky of nothing. Everything was an indigo blue. Yet it wasn't, for the color was that of nothing. And even so, he could see everything that was nothing. "What the hell is this?! What am I doing here?!" He shivered as a stiff, cold wind suddenly blew through the land. In the distance he heard thunder, but he saw no lighting. "......Heeeeeerrrrrrroooooo....." Came a faint call over the wind. 'DUO! THAT WAS DUO'S VOICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!' "DUO!!!!!! DUO, I'M HERE!!!!!! DUO!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHERE ARE YOU?!?!?!?!?!" Heero cried desperately, running in the direction of the voice to find his love. He ran and ran and ran until he saw a figure in the distance seeming to float a few feet off the ground. The figure had pale skin, wore black and white and had a long chestnut braid blowing to his left in the wind. "DUO!!!!!!!!!" Heero increased his speed two fold, running as fast as he could to the figure seeming to float back away from him. Minutes passed and he was gaining despite Duo's retreat. He was only 10 meters from him now. 8. 5. "........Heero.......... Please.... Help....." Duo called as he flew backwards, hand reaching for Heero's. "Please, Heero....." He cried with tears in his eyes. "DUO!!" Heero pleaded, "DON'T GO!!! STAY WITH ME!!!!!!!" 'Just a few more seconds!' He thought as he came within mere meters of his lover. "HEERO!!!!!!!! NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!" Duo screamed
as he began to be swallowed by a shadow, enveloping him in darkness.
His body was no longer visible, all that remained visible was Duo's
outstretched "DUO!!!" Heero reached out his right hand
as he ran. Their fingertips came centimeters within each other before
the hand shrank back and disappeared in the same manner as the rest
of Duo's body had and all He halted. His hand fell to his side limply for a moment, then tightened into a fist along with its counterpart on Heero's other side. Heero stood, fists shaking, eyes closed, tears seeping through closed lids to run slowly down heated cheeks. Silence. Nothing. Emptiness. Another gust of wind rustled his hair and clothing, both whipping in the wind. "Duo........" He sobbed, falling to his knees, sitting back on his heels, bowing his head and leaning on his hands on the ground of nothing. "Ai... shi... te..." Distant thunder. He sobbed a few more moments. Then released a heart rending cry. "DUUUUUUOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"/// * Heero sat up in bed, screaming his lover's name. "Shh. Shh, Habib, I'm here. It was just a dream." Said Quatre putting his hands on Heero's shoulders, attempting to calm his distraught friend. He noted Heero's tremors. 'He was only asleep for an hour. And in that short time he had a nightmare. Poor guy.' Heero sat in bed, staring blankly at the wall on the opposite side of the bedroom, his eyes vacant. "You passed out. Rashid carried you up here. You were only out for an hour." Said Quatre. Heero gave no indication that he'd heard him. His deep blue eyes locked upon the wall he faced. Quatre continued despite Heero's indifference. "I've been here the whole time. You had a bad dream." He paused looking at Heero intently, trying to determine if he really was aware. "Do you want to talk about it?" He offered. Nothing. Quatre sat in silence for long minutes with Heero. "I want him back." Having regained some hope for his friend's sanity, Quatre replied. "We all do. Wufei, Trowa and Rashid are all working on it." He then paused, reaching to the bed-side nightstand, and picked up a bottle of small white pills he had placed there for the chance he may need them. He absently noted a small silver ring lay on the surface near the bottle but paid little heed and looked to the bottle in his hand instead, opening it. He read the label: /'TAKE 80 MG's WHEN IN NEED.SWALLOW WITH A GLASS OF WATER.DO NOT MIX WITH ALCOHOL.DO NOT MIX WITH OTHER DRUGS.DO NOT TAKE MORE THAN ONE DOSE WITHIN AN 8 HOUR PERIOD. IN CASE OF OVERDOSE, CONTACT THE NEAREST POISON CONTROL CENTER OR GO TO THE NEAREST HOSPITAL IMMEDIATELY.'/ Quatre shook one small, white 80 milligram pill into the palm of his hand, screwed the childproof top back onto the bottle, returned the bottle to its original place on the nightstand and picked up the glass of water near it. "Here, take this." He said, holding the pill and glass of water out to Heero. Heero looked at it blankly for a few seconds before his expression became that of disdain. "I don't take drugs." He said simply, returning his glare to the wall. "It's just a little something to help you sleep. I got these when I first started fighting. It was hard to sleep at night, knowing all the lives I had taken." Quatre explained. Heero didn't move to take them and his glare remained avid upon the wall. "Heero, please take it. You need rest for the rescue. We need you to be at one hundred and ten percent incase there's a battle. We're relying on you. Please." Quatre pleaded. Heero looked at the pill suspiciously. "How long will I be out?" "Eight hours or so." Heero considered for a moment. He looked at the clock.
It was Eight o'clock p.m. 'I suppose I should take it. I doubt if
they'll be telling me they have anything in the next eight hours.'
"Yosha." Heero took the pill and popped it into the back
of his mouth with one hand, taking the glass of water from Quatre
with the other and Quatre placed a gentle hand on Heero's shoulder for moment, considering whether or not he should stay. After a minute or so, he decided that Heero would want to be alone. "I'll be nearby if you need me, Heero." He said as he backed out the door. Closing it softly behind him, he headed for the staircase. 'He'll be all right. We'll get Duo back, and everything will be back to normal.' He said as he walked slowly down the carpeted stairs. Even as he said it and repeated it over and over again in his mind, he knew it was a lie. * 'I hate these.' Thought Heero, as he wiped away tear after tear, angrily. 'Why won't they stop?! Shouldn't they have stopped ten minutes ago? I hate these.' Heero had been taught as a child that tears were the blood of the soul, and to cry meant that your soul was wounded. He had been raised to believe that the soul could only be wounded if one let it be so. And the perfect soldier did not allow himself to be wounded. Heero gave up the fight and let the tears come, despite his disgust with himself for his inability to stop them, rolling onto his back. The tears took different paths down the sides of his face then, trickling from the outward corners of his prussian blue eyes and falling into the shells of his ears. He closed his eyes, giving in to the pain in his heart. 'I feel like I've been cut down the middle and half of me is gone. I WILL get you back, Duo.' He vowed, hands becoming fists under the blankets. 'I'll get you back...' Heero cried himself into a dreamless sleep. * "Anything?" Asked Quatre hopefully when he reached the group in the living room. His question received the sad looks and shaking heads he had expected. "We've scanned all the OZ frequencies, and none are being used. Now we are scanning for new frequencies." Said Rashid, turning the dial on the scanner, very, very slowly. Quatre took a seat next to Trowa on the floor around
the elaborately carved coffee table on which the scanner was set up,
leaning against him and letting his mind wander as he listened to
the static on the * * * About six hours after Quatre had sat down, he was getting tired. The shock was wearing off, and now his body and mind craved rest. Trowa tapped him on the shoulder when he saw Quatre's head duck down the then come back up again only to repeat the process. "Quatre, wake up." "Huh? I'm awake. I'm awake." Quatre said unconvincingly. He looked sleepily around the table and saw that everyone else was in the same condition. Glancing at the clock he grimaced. 'It's only Two o'clock? It feels so much later. In any case it's way past my bedtime.' He noticed Wufei stand and stretch. "I'm going to make some coffee." He said, heading towards the kitchen. "NO!!!" Said all the other pilots in unison. Wufei looked at them, puzzled. "Uhh......... we need you here, Wufei." Said Quatre with a smile. "I'll make the coffee." He said, getting up and all but running for the kitchen. Wufei shrugged. "Whatever." In the kitchen, Quatre was getting all the things he
needed to make coffee, putting them on the counter on the island and
trying not to fall asleep while doing it. 'Ok... Filters...kettle...coffee
pot...filter holder...coffee beans...and grinder. I can do this. I
don't think any of us are fit to deal with Wufei's coffee right now.
* Trowa sat at the coffee table staring intently at the scanner. 'How could ALL the frequencies be completely silent. It doesn't make sense.' He thought, crossing his arms and closing his eyes. 'I really need coffee. If I go to sleep now, I won't wake up if we have to move out soon. Although, if things keep going the way they have been, I don't think that'll be too soon.' He sighed. 'Poor Heero. This must be tearing him up. If anything happened to Quatre.....' He stopped. 'I don't want to think about that.' He looked at the clock, willing the hands to move faster. He sat a few more minutes, wondering what they were going to do if they didn't meet the twenty-four hour deadline. Heero would go off and get himself killed. He knew he would. They all did. He heard a ceramic clinking and looked up to see Quatre with a tender smile on his face bring in a tray with four steaming tea cups, spoons, cream, and sugar. He set the tray on the coffee table next to the scanner. "Thanks, Winner." Said Wufei, picking up a cup and pouring some sugar and cream into it. He took a sip as everyone else prepared their coffee as they pleased. "Nani?! What did you do to this?! What is this?!" Wufei demanded of Quatre with a look of wonder on his face. "It's coffee, Wufei. This is how most people make it." Said Quatre, stirring his. "But, but.... What about the coffee grains?" "You're the only person I've ever met that puts grains in the coffee, Wufei." Said Trowa, blowing on the top of his coffee. The blonde grimaced slightly. "It's actually kind of......." "Gross." Trowa finished for his polite lover. Quatre shot him a meaningful look even as he blushed. Wufei looked at his cup. "So... If this is coffee, what have I been making?" He asked. There was a brief silence. "Shit in a cup." Said Trowa, earning him another sharp glare from his lover. No one ever accused him of having good people skills after all. Wufei took no offense and instead took another sip of his coffee. "This is delicious." He said to Quatre, who smiled in thanks. "You must teach me how to make it like this. Please." He added and Quatre smiled brighter and nodded. They sat in silence for hours. The only sound, the static from the scanner, all of them listening hopefully. Wishing that they might hear the voice of an OZ soldier, any OZ soldier. But there was none. Only static and empty frequencies. Then.... "...Yes, Sir. We have him loaded and we are ready to move out. We await your orders, Sir." The voice was fuzzy and seemed to be breaking up. It was hard to understand what was being said. The pilots all sat forward, hoping that this was about Duo, yet fearing it as well. Quatre looked to Rashid. "Can you make it any clearer?" Rashid shook his head "No, they hid it well. It's right between two channels. This is the only way it will come in." They all listened. "Yes. Bring him to me. Leave at Twenty-hundred hours with the prisoner." Said a familiar voice. They all stiffened. The knew that voice. It was that of Zechs Marquise. "Wakarimash'ta. Sidley out." Said the officer. Then there was nothing but static. After a short silence, Wufei spoke. "Let's move." * * * On the stairs to their rooms to get supplies, Rashid explained things "If the transmission wasn't faux, Oz is holding Duo at the Mt. Sidley base in Antarctica. It takes about two hours to get there. The time difference is eleven hours and they are west of us so the time there is Eighteen, fifteen. If we want to get there in time we'll have to move and move fast. Oh, and this is Summer, so now is during the winter there, and winter means six months of night. Quatre-sama, Trowa-san, Wufei-san, please pack supplies quickly. You may wish to change into warmer clothes as well. I will go uncover the Gundams." With that said, Rashid bowed quickly and ran down the stairs to the door. "I'll wake up Heero." Said Quatre solemnly. * "Heero!..." 'Hmm...... Duo.......' Thought Heero as he heard his name called seemingly from a distance. "Heero!..." Seemingly closer. "Hmmmmmmm..............." He replied, still half asleep, reaching over to the left side of the bed, hand seeking his lover. "Heero!..." Closer still. He felt around another moment. 'Nani? Duo always sleeps in.' He thought. "Heero!!!" Yelled Quatre, shaking Heero awake by the shoulders. "We've got him. We're moving out in two minutes. Wake up and get dressed in warm clothing." Reality hit Heero like a brick wall. 'Oh no. I'd hoped that was a dream.' He thought. Then snapped out of it and went about following Quatre's instructions. Quatre, seeing that he was awake and getting prepared, left to do the same. "I'll explain everything during the flight." He said as he walked out the door. Heero quickly dressed in a pair of heavy, light blue jeans, a gray long sleeved tee shirt, and a heavy, down filled, light brown leather jacket. He put on a pair of thermal socks and black boots, tying the laces in record time. Heero found his duffel sitting by the door. It was still packed from when he almost left the night before. He winced inwardly at the thought of passing out in front of his fellow pilots, but realized that there were more pressing matters at hand. He picked up his duffel and slung it over his shoulder as he ran out the door. The other pilots were in the hallway, all holding their bags over their shoulders and ready to go. Heero nodded to them as he approached, and they all moved down the staircase in unison. He noticed worried glances between the others and realized that they were concerned about his mental stability. 'So am I.' He thought. The Gundams were all laid out on their backs as if sleeping on the grass behind the mansion. They covered them with large green tarps the exact shade of the lawn. To any over-passing aircraft, it would look like grass. Heero passed by where Duo's Gundam had been. The depression in the ground told of the size, weight and basic shape of Death Scythe. He stood for a moment, simply staring at the empty space so much like the one in his heart. "Heero?" Said Quatre, concern on his face. "Coming." Said Heero, giving the spot one last glance from the corner of his eye, moving quickly to his Gundam. Quatre watched Heero get into his Gundam with worry apparent in his crystal blue eyes. He then turned and hugged Trowa, kissing him briefly. Trowa looked into Quatre's eyes, dimly confused. Quatre gave him a look that said 'Just in case.' Trowa nodded, his visible emerald green eye sparkling. Both parted, hands touching, spun around and headed to their Gundams on either side. Wufei and Rashid were already in theirs. Wufei's voice came over all their com systems once everyone was ready. "Let's go."
Yeah. There's the first part. Well, now you see why I avoided posting this, ne?
