Lovers" Chapter 9
Duo stared at the beautifully chiseled features as they slept. He had spent the entire day following lord Heero. Everything the prince did, was with only half a heart. The prince didn't know what was worse. . .having his best friend a rabbit, or his father's denial to keep him. Lord Heero had a harsh time falling asleep that night. He only did as much from exhaustion. The servant was laying next to the resting prince, completely lost in thought of being so close without fear. He found that listening to the easy breathing was somewhat relaxing. A smile pulled his lips as he slipped under the covers with the prince. He slide his hand up the night gown and caressed the royal manhood. He ran the length, and lightly soothed the balls. Lord Heero's breathing became slightly distorted with pleasure at the contact as he began to stir awake. Not truly wanting him to wake, Duo pulled from under the night gown. He laid still at the prince's side until he was sure that full sleep had returned. Guilt consumed him as he thought of what he had just done. Touching the prince as such was no better than molesting a child. This fact angered him and once again he was tempted to introduce his friend into the world that he had been deprived of. With this in mind, Duo leaned closer with intentions of just one quick harmless taste of the virgin lips. They were only centimeters apart when the colbat eyes flew open and the prince tried to sit up straight. However, his head hit something solid, causing him to lay back down. "Ow." Two voices spoke as one. The prince knew one was his own, but the other was Duo's. He glanced over at the cage he had gotten earlier from the stables. The rabbit was inside sleeping. "Duo, I know you are here and that you are not that rabbit. I do not know what I saw, but I know what I am saying is true. Can you not show yourself?" "I am before your eyes, you just can not see me." That said, the prince noticed the imprint on the bed next to him. "The wizard has made you invisible." "To protect you from my father's anger." "Yes. If you knew of this, then why did you continue to carry the bunny?" "Because I wanted others to believe that it was you. How long will you remain as this?" "Until the day of your coronation, and the wizard restores me." "Duo, may I request a favor of you?" "Of course, you are the prince." "I am not commanding you. . .I am asking you." "What do you wish?" "Instead of using the spell for mischief, would you go beyond the palace walls and observe the people? I wish to know how truly unhappy they are under my father's rule." "I will do as you ask." "Leave at dawn and return to me every dusk to report what you find." "Sure thing Heero." "I. . .uh. . ." The enchanted jester tried to develop a lie, when something occurred to him. What kept him to lie to the prince at all? Before was the fear of the king, now the king believe he was a harmless bunny who can not speak. What could the king do to him if he is not able to be seen? "I wished only for a quick kiss." "Then your eyes must be invisible as well, for my hand was no where near my face." "Heero, remember when you asked me of the brown haired boy you saw in the servant's tower?" "I do." "I know I said that I would answer you on the day of your coronation, but perhaps it would be best to tell you now. . .but before I do, I need you to make a promise to me." "What type of promise?" "You must swear that all I am to relate to you will remain in this room. You can not tell any that you know of this, nor can you act that you know. You must swear that you will act as if I never spoke to you of these matters?" "You sound frightful. The king cannot touch you if he does not see you." "No. He can not, alas, if he were to learn that you know of any of this, the boy you saw will die." "Why will he die?" "Because the king wants to keep you ignorant to him. And he will stop at nothing to do as much." "I do not understand." "I can explain everything to you. . .but only if you swear to keep these to yourself." "I swear Duo. I will tell no one." "That was not so bad." Princess Relena cooed as she laid next to the royal lover. "I suppose I will become better within time." "That you will princess." Trowa agreed as he slid off the bed and rested on the ground. The princess rolled onto the side of the bed that he was once laying on. "Do you not find joy in your work?" She questioned and traced his nude body with her eyes. "It is my role my lady." Lady Relena stared at the sadden features. She knew she was not to get attached, but she could not help but feel bad for him. "You remind me much of lord Heero." She whispered softly and waited for his response. "You share the same gloomy demeanor, and sadden eyes. There is an air about you of great depression and loneliness. At times when we make love, I feel it easy to pretend it is lord Heero." "My lady, I am honored by your words, but I can not compare to the prince. He is of great standing and strong heart. . .I am nothing." Neither of them were aware of the violet eyes watching them from the window. At that moment, the door to the chamber opened and two guards stepped in; one of them was holding a tunic. Without a command, Trowa pushed himself to his feet, and pulled on the tunic before following the guards. Curious, Duo waited for them to emerge from the building before following them. He never really knew too much about Trowa, but if he wanted to save him, now was the crucial time to do as much. They approached the throne room, where the king was already waiting, with a small girl, and the royal adviser to his right. Trowa kneeled before the king and Duo stood to the side so no one would bump into him, or vice versa. "You have had time to rethink your decision lover." The king bellowed. His anger now was greater than ever. "I grow weary of your games. The crown will sit on lord Heero's head in five days and I still do not have a lover to present to him." "I will not." The king gripped the arms of his chair tightly before standing. "Take them both to the dungeon. Whip him until he changes his mind. If he does not, then punish the child before his eyes." Tears were spilling from the little girl's eyes as one of the guards seized her. She started screaming until she was smacked to silence. Duo's eyes widen in fear and shock as he watched them be dragged from the room. He then looked back at the king in repulsion. "What am I to do?" The king questioned his adviser. "If he does not train the child, then my son will be without a lover. If I destroy him, then no one will train her. If I continue to let him live, the kingdom will not be cleansed. I have threaten to kill the child. He has been beaten many, many times in the pass two weeks." "Perhaps my lord should consider bargaining with him?" "Bargaining?!" "My lord, tell the lover that if he is to train the child, then you will spare his life. When the training is completed, then you can destroy him." The king thought about this a moment before a smile pulled at his lips. "Indeed. This may just work. Send the royal messenger. Tell the lover of this deal." The messenger, who was standing near Duo, bowed and left the room. Curious of the outcome, Duo followed the servant to the dungeon, where Trowa was presently being whipped. "Cease the punishment, for I have word from the king to the lover." The whip stopped, but Trowa refused eye contact. "His majesty wishes to offer you a deal lover. In exchange for training the child, your life will be spared." Trowa remained silent as he stared at the dirt ground. He lifted his eyes a moment to study the child. "I will not train her." "Are you sure that is your answer?" The messenger asked and stared into Trowa's face. "I will not." The sweet smell of the fresh apple pie was too inviting to resist. Duo stepped up to the window sill where three pies were sitting to cool. He could see two cooks inside talking. One he knew as Une, the other as Luceriza. He ignored them as he inhaled the warm aroma. "Should we not watch the pies?" Luceriza asked
confusedly. "Surely Duo will steal one if we are not alert." "Such behavior is not wise." Sally cooed and Duo looked up to find the small dragon on the wall above him. "It is just a pie." "A flying pie. Replace it before it is missed." "Where is the fun in being invisible if I can not steal pies?" "This is not for fun. . .this is for your life. Return it." Duo stood and set the pie back on the sill. He then turned and started to walk away. Sally hopped off the wall and followed him. "What are you doing?" "I am making sure you stay out of trouble." "You can see me?" "Yes." "Then I am not invisible any longer?" "You still are." "But you just said you can see me." "I can." "So which is it?" "I can see you because I am a dragon, and dragons have sensitive eyes; so I can see things humans can not." "But I am still invisible?" "Yes." "Just not to you." "Right." "Then why did you not say so?" Sally rolled her eyes. "Where have you been these pass days?" The dragon questioned. "Me? No where." "Duo, I know you have not been inside the palace walls. I have been checking. Now where were you?" "I do not have to answer to you." "Perhaps you prefer answering to a noose." "I am not doing wrong. I am helping this kingdom." "You told the prince. He knows you are not that bunny, does he not?" "He knows." "Duo!" "I only. . ." "It is a good thing I did. . .he is going to help Trowa." "Please tell me that you did not tell him about
Trowa." The jester remained silent. "The prince can not
help Trowa. It is before his power." "How?" "I have yet to figure that out." "No. Look, I know that as long as Trowa refused to train his replacement, he will live. . .I just have to figure a way for Heero to come face to face with Trowa again." to be continued |
