I wait inside the great hall and stare at the many faces gathered there. // Perfect by nature I can't stand to hear their pathetic excuses anymore; this war had gone on far too long in my opinion and now, with this new twist to it, I find myself questioning my role in it. To fight soldier to soldier whether it be hand to hand or suit to suit was the way I had been taught to fight, it was fair, it was just, each man pitting his skills and cunning against the opposition. These new weapons, or 'Mobile Dolls,' were just that - dolls; and there is no place for them on any battlefield. Yet these bastards, the ones that people had put into power, believing they had the Foundation's best interests at heart, insist that this is the way to fight. Well, I have news for them and the people who elected them there. They aren't as perfect as they would have you believe, they are merely an icon and unfortunately with the power they now wield, they can indulge as they wish. // Just what we all need Just what sort of idiots does this committee think we are? Surely they can see that the people aren't going to believe them, not now, not with the way the Foundation is floundering against the opposition, not given the dissention that rears its head amongst the Foundation representatives. If they cannot stop the bickering and find peace to work together within themselves, how can they possibly hope to gain and maintain it on a universal level? The bullshit they are feeding everyone will eventually be exposed for the lie it is. The idle promises for a peace have begun to wear thin and I, for one, can see the stupidity; the flaws behind the illusion. This world cannot become what you foretell; never has been and never will be, especially not the way the Foundation plans to go about it, and not when you use these kinds of tactics. // Have you no shame? Don't you see me? So I stand here before you all and plead my case, but my words fall on deaf ears. I might as well have saved my breath for all the attention you paid me. Doesn't what you're proposing to do, strike any of you as being wrong? Obviously none of you have any shame. You continue your debate, ignoring my protests as if I wasn't there. This committee may have the rest of them fooled; but not me. I guess that's why it came as no surprise to find myself arrested, removed from the cause and confined to my home. // Look here she comes now "My Lady." I bow politely as my position dictates I should, my mind wondering which of the personalities I am graced with today. Will it be the soft, gentle lady or the cold hearted colonel? // Oh how we love you It always amuses me how dedicated to your cause you appear to be. Giving out your orders, expecting them to be obeyed immediately and without question; as bizarre as they may have seemed at times. When you take on this persona a switch is thrown, there is nothing but a woman of steel, no room for softness or sympathy here… so unlike the lady who used to be by my side. // But now I know she, As my mind wanders back over those months of having her constantly by my side, I thought I'd found the one person who understood me, someone who knew and shared the passion I held for the right cause... but I was wrong. She was simply playing me for a fool. Like so many before, all of them taking from me what they wanted and then casting me aside when I'd outlived my purpose. // You don't know how you've betrayed me I remain locked away here, festering in my own mind whilst all around the battle continues on. Those whom I thought I could trust have turned against me, betraying me... and for what? Surely they can see; can't they? The woman they deal with is not the woman they think she is. But then... Something changed. // Without the mask where will you hide? Finally I am released from my gaol, not because they had second thoughts or realized I was wrongly imprisoned, no. They needed a leader, someone to sacrifice for the cause, understanding that this new threat is far more dangerous than expected. You lay unconscious in the hospital, unable to assist in this... this final showdown. Lost in the lie that was you after a bullet failed to do its job properly. // I know the truth now, Tell me, Une, how many people have you snared in your web of deceit? One minute, the ever polite lady; the next, the harsh colonel, taking them apart one by one to satisfy your own craving for power. Do they even know? Do they even suspect? I did. And I do. // And I don't love you anymore. // I woke up to you a while ago, your charms and beguiling ways. I thought I was in love with you, no, that is incorrect. I did fall in love with you, but now... After seeing all that you were capable of; my love died. // It never was and never will be. I stare in awe as you float across the void of space, hovering outside my suit and I grant you the freedom to speak - although it will do nothing to change the course of what is about to happen. You can't save yourself so what makes you think you can save me? I have accepted where my future lies. Call it fate, call it destiny, call it what you will. I call it... Justice.
