The store was crowded as Duo ploughed his way through the hoards. His eyes set in a determined gaze as he pushed and shoved past those who seemed hell bent on stopping him from reaching his target. Having to buy parts for Deathscythe the week before had left him a little broke, to say the least, but he had been determined to set just a little aside. He'd have just enough left after buying himself an Easter present to get his lover one too. As he neared his port of call he grinned, knowing that he was one step away from completing his mission. It was so close that he could almost taste it. He stopped in his tracks and then made a face at the evil crowd that had over taken his favorite store. The Chocolatier was one of Arcadia shopping center’s most popular stores and Duo knew he'd have to brave the perils to reach his goal. He took a deep breath and let it out in a deep long sigh, puffed out his chest and then dove into the ocean of chocolate addicted shoppers. He pushed and shoved his way through the crowd; forcing his way through until finally he could see a clear path to the section he was making his way to. But then, he saw it, the sign on the shelves in front of him ' Mega choc eggs sold out'. "Sold out..." he stared in disbelief. Gone... His precious treat... ...All gone. Duo's smile faded and he turned around perusing the crowd for an assistant; but as usual there was not one to be found when you needed one. Not that the crowd helped his visual perception any. He sighed and headed back out into the rest of the department store, eyes wandering as he went to see if any one else had the eggs in stock. Then he spotted something just to the left, from out of the corner of his eye. He stopped and turned to face the small confection store. Trumpets blazed in a glorious fanfare and the smile returned to his face. It wasn’t the Mega choc, definitely not. It came in a box adorned with flowers and had a plush rabbit inside. Curiously he walked into the small store and over to the shelf on which the vision of beauty resided. It was bigger than anything he'd ever seen before, bigger; even, than the mega choc eggs in the Chocolatier's store. The price however was another matter. He blinked a couple of times hoping that he was reading it wrong. The other egg had only been eighteen credits. This one was twenty-six. "Expensive lil' bugger, aren't ya? he said to the stuffed rabbit through the plastic window as he reached up and retrieved the large box from the shelf. The he had another idea and quickly made a detour to the fabric section and purchased some black cloth. He'd have time to pop by Hilde's to complete the second phase of his newly forming plans. He walked towards the checkout, armed with Heero's gift and the material in one hand and reaching across to the confectionery shelf with the other as he passed it by, grabbed himself a block of chocolate. It was better to leave now, before the temptation to ask Une for that advance she had offered him sounded like a damn good idea. ~*~ It was around six in the evening when the front door opened and Heero returned from base, his face streaked with dirt and oil, his clothes, stained with the grease from completing the finishing touches to Wing's new thrusters. He looked around the place, the silence completely baffling him. There was no sign of Duo anywhere, no 'Heero, you're home', followed by the ritual smooching of lips and the accosting of any random body parts that the long haired man could get his hands on. But… there was nothing. It was strangely... peaceful. The lamp had been left on in the corner of the lounge, so Heero presumed that Duo wouldn't be too far away; probably gone to the store knowing him. Perfect!! Heero shut the front door behind him and headed for their room, large package in hand. If he was quick enough he could shower, get changed and still have time put his devious little plan into action before his lover came home. ~*~ Duo pulled the car to a halt, going about all the usual rituals, for turning the car off and locking it up. He grinned when he saw Heero's car and held the bag of goodies securely against his chest. Glancing around to make sure the coast was clear, Duo bolted for the front door and opening it ran inside as fast as he could heading for his study. He had just shut the study door when he heard Heero shout out about dinner being ready in five minutes and next time could he shut the bloody front door, but he just snickered knowing that after dinner the unclosed door would be totally forgotten. He was determined that Heero would have an early Easter present. He would have rather given it to him on Easter morning, but they were both working at HQ Easter morning, so after dinner would have to do. Although he was sure that Heero wouldn't mind at all. He smirked and placed the items he had brought down onto his desk and then headed out of his study locking the door behind him. ~*~ After dinner Heero suggested they have fifteen minutes to shower, organize gifts and then meet in the lounge for the giving of early Easter presents. Duo made his way into the study and retrieved the large box he carefully opened it up so as not to rip the cardboard and gently removed the Easter rabbit. "Your idea, no doubt?" he asked opening the box and removing the rabbit gave it a look over. "Of course." Duo snickered. "Who else would come up with an idea like it?" "Yes that's very true" Heero had to agree, "An Easter bunny, complete with Duo outfit; cap, cross and all. Very neatly made. Good quality cotton. The stitching is strong." "Trust you to check out the specs." Duo laughed. Heero grinned, "Hilde's handiwork I gather?" "Like I can sew." Duo chuckled. "Oh I meant to ask you at the table before. Did you get the egg you were after for yourself? I know how much you were looking forward to it." Duo sighed, "Na, it was gone, but it's ok. I was able to get you a better present, and you're happy with it, so I'm happy." Heero was touched that Duo had gone to all this trouble for him but not able to get himself the treat he'd wanted, "Well I was lucky that the store remembered to do what I asked them, or I wouldn't have been able to get you the one I wanted to get you either." He handed Duo his Easter present wrapped in brown paper. "Here, Duo I hope this cheers you up." Duo smiled at his lover, taking the package from him and kissed him softly on the lips, "Having you around is the best present lover." It was Heero's turn to blush. "This is pretty huge too, Heero." Duo smiled, carefully unwrapping the paper from the box. His eyes widened when he saw the box and holding it in the air, he threw himself at his lover, "Heero... this is it, this is the one, the one that I really wanted. How, how did you know?" Heero blinked a little shocked at his lover's reaction, "I… err, that is... Really?" "Heero, you have no idea how much you've made my Easter the happiest ever, do you." Heero scratched his head bewildered at all this attention over one egg. "Um, but all I did was ask the store to set one of these aside because they were expecting them to sell out before Easter, so I paid a deposit last week and I picked it up today." Duo snuggled up closer to Heero, "Well no matter how it came about I really am happy, Heero. Thank you." He looked up into his lover's eyes and smiled as he kissed the dark haired man some more. Heero placed his Easter gift on the floor beside the couch and wrapped his arms around his lover and held him close, "I'm glad you like it koi and if it makes you this happy, then I'm glad I asked them to hold one now." He kissed the braided 02 pilot on the forehead. "Heero?" Duo began. "Hmm?" "I have something else for ya, koi. Meet me in our room in twenty minutes." He winked at his lover as he stood and wandered out of the lounge. "Something else?" Heero raised an eyebrow and wondered what his long haired boy toy was up too. He checked his watch; he could handle the suspense for that long. Amused he stretched back against the couch and waited. ~*~ Duo had finished the last phase in his plans for the evening.
