Quatre's heart raced as they headed towards his cousin's room. A very quiet and solemn faced Heero walked beside him, even Duo was being surprisingly silent. Quatre could see that Duo was taking in everything he could about this case, treating it with the respect that it demanded. Yes, it was a given fact Duo could be a bit of a joker, but that didn't mean he was stupid and Quatre realized this. He'd never seen the chestnut braided man act like this before. Yuy, on the other hand, was as usual, taking everything in his stride. They stopped at room 313 and Duo swallowed nervously. Heero gave him a reassuring glance and the young chestnut haired man sighed inwardly. "I'll leave the questions to you shall I?" Heero grinned a little at his junior's sudden change of heart. On the way there he had insisted that he be able to get one or two questions in himself, and Heero had agreed. Getting out his wallet ID the young blonde flashed it at the guards, who quickly stepped aside, nodding slightly in the acknowledgment that respect was required for their visitor. Returning his wallet to its resting place, he punched the security code into the door panel. Quatre sucked in a deep breath as he waved his hand over the palm pattern, "Go easy on her, Heero. Please." The senior detective nodded in silent understanding as the door slid open and the small band of concerned men tentatively entered the small-darkened room. Heero first noticed the lack of light as his eyes began to focus on the room itself. The windows had been locked shut and safely secured. Heavy drapes replaced the blinds that had obviously, only just this morning been changed over. The second thing he noticed was that there were no communication devices at all in her room. She was obviously avoiding outside contact other than Quatre himself. Quatre led the way into the middle of the room and the
door shut behind them. Duo stepped closer to Heero and waited for
his eyes to adjust. Quatre moved quietly over to the bed and sat down
on the edge. Gently he touched his cousin's arm and waited. "I won't force you to eat if you're not willing to Relena," the young trainee detective whispered softly. Hearing the soft-spoken voice behind her, Relena turned to see a familiar face smiling at her and a comforting feeling of warmth swam through her exhausted and violated body. A small smile of relief slowly broke across her tear-streaked face and she threw her arms around him. "I knew you'd come Quatre! I just knew it!" Quatre held his cousin tightly as she clung to him, "Did you really think I'd let you go through this alone? You've always been there for me when I've needed you and now, I'm here for you." Heero tapped Quatre softly on the shoulder and the blonde acknowledged him by gently holding Relena by the shoulders and looking directly into her eyes. "Listen; I need to know if you're up to answering a few questions," he nodded towards Heero and Duo standing quietly by, "These are two of my associates from the detective agency. This is senior Detective Heero Yuy and his junior Duo Maxwell." She looked up at the two men and Quatre saw the look that fell over her face. "It's ok, they're here to help. They want to catch the animal that did this to you too!" He affirmed. She glanced over at Heero and he did his best to give her a reassuring smile. Relena nodded and Quatre moved out of the way, letting Heero stand beside her by the bed. “I’m really sorry to do this to you so soon after the ordeal, but we really want to catch the person or persons responsible for these attacks. We, that is, my partner and I were hoping that while everything is still fresh in your mind that you could shed a little more light about your assailant.” Relena swallowed. She couldn’t be weak now, not if she could help with the capture of the one who had taken away her dignity and the dignity of the other women who had suffered the same degrading torture. “I’ll tell you what I can remember, but I can’t promise it will be of any use.” She motioned for him to sit down on the bed. Heero followed her motion sitting down next to her. He placed his hand over her shoulder slowly and gently so as not to frighten the young woman or make her any more nervous than she already was. “Go ahead. I’ll just listen,” he replied softly. With a deep tormented sigh and a soft tremor in her voice she began to relive her nightmare. ~*~ An hour later the door to Relena’s room slid open and three very quiet young men walked out. Duo was pale faced and a touch of anger could be detected in the soft violet orbs. His posture was tense and his fists clenched. The door slid shut again behind them. Quatre fumed under his quiet exterior, but in reality, he wanted to scream loudly and let this bastard know that he had just declared war on the wrong person. Heero, on the other hand, was a little disturbed about the attack. Hearing it first hand seemed to make it a little more shocking than just reading about it. But as usual, Duo noted, his partner’s composure was in place. Heero had listened intently as the young woman gave an almost detailed account of what had happened and Duo held Quatre as the young man seethed with anger. It had really affected him, shook him up. Relena hadn’t been able to give them a description of her attacker, but at least now they were dealing with the same person for all the rapes that had occurred recently. It wasn’t much, but it was a start. Quatre walked silently through the corridor towards the elevator, the other two following a few feet behind. Suddenly the young blonde turned, stopping mid step, causing Heero to almost collide with him. “I want to work on this case with you two!” he stated unexpectedly. Heero backed away a little seeing the look on Quatre’s face. He’d seen that look before. “No!” the dark-haired man replied firmly. “Please Heero. I..” Heero grasped the blonde’s shoulders and planted his eyes directly into pleading ones of the trainee detective, “You’re too close to the case; It isn’t a good idea. You want payback, Quatre I can tell by the look in your eyes and that’s why I can not and will not agree to this.” :But I just want to…” “I know what you want, Quatre, and the answer is still no; not while you’re in this state of mind. End of discussion.” Duo remained rooted to the spot where he had stopped, choosing to stay out of the line of fire. He could understand why the young blonde wanted so badly to help them in their quest to find the bastard and wipe the floor with him, but he also knew that his senior was right. With thoughts of revenge and payback in your heart and mind, there was no room for reasoning. Heero let go of the young Arabian man’s shoulders and continued towards the elevator, pressing the number of the floor they were on into the control pad as he reached the doors. Duo took a deep breath and followed, placing a hand briefly over Quatre’s arm, “Trust Heero on this okay. He knows what he’s talking about, Quat.” Defeated, Quatre sighed, acknowledging the braided one’s words. Duo was right. He would just have to sit back and let them deal with this the ethical way. You couldn’t change what had happened but you could attempt to prevent it from occurring again. “Then I have a suggestion, “ he informed them. Heero turned and cocked his head slightly. “Go ahead.” “At least let me help you with the computer research.” Heero glanced over to Duo, as if asking for his opinion and feedback. “I guess that would be alright,“ he shrugged back at Heero. Heero nodded, “Alright then, Quatre. Inside work is fine. I’ll agree to that, but that’s it!” Quatre smiled gratefully. “Thanks guys. I promise you, you won’t regret this.” “Good,” came the solemn reply. “Then when we get to work we need get to it immediately. If the rapes are conducted in the same style as they have been so far in each case, then I’m willing to bet, there has to be some connection between the victims too.” The elevator doors opened and the three of them walked into the small room. Heero waved his hand over the inner panel to close the doors and pressed the floor of their destination into the pad. “Next stop, Kushrenada Detective Agency.” ~*~ Trieze glanced up from his paper work, he was sure he just saw the terrible twosome enter the building *early*?” He shook his head, sure that he must have been imagining things. There was no miracle, no matter how big or small on earth that could get those two into work early. He went to turn his attention back to the paperwork piling up on his desk and found himself staring at the face of one Quatre Winner. “Alright now I know I’m imagining things.“ He sat back in his chair, “What’s going on, Quatre, why are the three of you trouble makers here so early?” He asked as the other two waltzed casually into his office. “We need permission for Quatre to help us with our investigation of the murder and rape cases.” Trieze gave him a questioning look. “Inside work only,” Heero quickly added. “His cousin was added to the list of rape victims last night sir,” Duo informed the head of the agency. Treize’s attention shot towards the blonde trainee. “Is this true, Winner?” Quatre nodded in affirmation. His eyes trying not to betray his true feelings. He didn’t want Treize to think that he wasn’t capable of doing this. “I see. Well then, I suggest you make sure that your senior knows, Winner, but the second he needs you for something you had better make it first priority. Is that clear?” “Yes sir. I understand.” Treize pointed at Heero. “If you need to use the archive room go right ahead, the police have given code clearance for us to go ahead and go into their files too,” he said folding his arms as he eyed off the motley looking crew of early morning investigators. “I suppose you want me to pay you from the minute you walked in the door too?” A cheeky grin spread over the braided detective’s face, “That would be so nice of you sir.” Trieze shook his head trying not to let the slight smirk escape him, “Well then, I suggest you get your butts down to the archives and start work then. Seeing you all here so early…” He glanced at his watch, “An hour and a half early even…is worth the extra credits.” He waved them off. “And I expect a damn good report by the end of the day then, Yuy,” he said as they headed out of the room. Heero glanced at his partners, “You’ll have it sir. That I can guarantee.” “I trust your guarantees more than my investment company’s, Yuy. Don’t let me down!” “I won’t sir. You can count on that.” He turned and followed the others out. Duo grinned as they rounded the doorway. “That says a lot for those companies if he trusts *your guarantees*, Heero.” *Thwap* “Ow!” Quatre snickered. *Thwap* “Hey what did I do?” The blonde winced rubbing the back of his head as Duo glared at him. Heero threw the other two a sideways glance and shook his head. “Behave you two.” He smirked as Duo pouted at him. The little *what did I do? * look was cute, but it wasn’t going to work. Heero continued. “I suggest we get our rear ends into gear. Treize wants results and if we muck this up we’re going to end up the laughing stocks of this agency, and I for one do not find that particular idea appealing.” Duo raised an eyebrow. “Me either.” “I guess I’d have to agree. I mean you guys have been landed with this case and it’s not looking too easy a deal right now,” Quatre sighed, stopping as they reached his office. He could see Wu Fei working away on some piled up paper work. “I wonder if now would be the time to ask him if it’s ok to work on this with you?” Duo gave a sly grin. “It’s the best time. You go up to him and just tell him. Because he’s so busy he’ll just agree with everything you say just to get you to leave him alone while he’s concentrating.” It was Quatre’s turn to raise an eyebrow, ”And how would you know all this, Mr. Smarty pants?” A large grin developed over Duo’s handsome elfish features. “Heh, I do it to Heero all the time,” he proudly stated. “Alright then; on your notable authority, I shall now go and attempt to *annoy* Wu Fei." “Notable authority?” Heero mused under his breath Duo snickered as they watched Quatre wander into their office. “This should be amusing koi. Wu Fei is always easy to annoy.” Heero gave his lover a stern look. “I’d be annoyed too if I were him and I had you calling me Waffles or Wuffley babe all the time.” “You left out Wu Wu Train.” “Shit!!” the dark haired detective exclaimed, “No wonder Wu Fei avoids you where possible. I think I would too; either that, or I’d have tied you up and chained you to a pole somewhere, naked, just to teach you a lesson.” Duo’s face lit up into a big cheesy grin. “Now *that* idea has merit babe." Heero sweatdropped, mentally reminding himself to keep his big mouth shut in future. Gracefully he changed the subject. “Quatre’s on his way out. He’s smiling so, I’d say it worked, Duo.” Quatre made his way back to his waiting companions, a look of revere on his face and he grinned at Duo through the window of the office as he rounded the doorway. “I’m on side gentlemen. Wu Fei agreed just like you said he would, Duo.” The braided wonder nudged his lover in the ribs gently with his elbow. “I guess my authority is more than notable now, hey, Heero?” “I’ll give you notable in a minute Maxwell,” he grinned, “However, we need to stop piss farting around and get down to the archive. It’s time to get serious.” He ushered them towards the elevator and wiped his ID card through the appropriate slot. Duo gave Quatre a snicker and whispered something in his ear. Quatre nodded and headed off back towards his office. “What are you two up to?” he asked suspiciously. “I asked Quatre to go grab some snacks from my desk and some drinks from our fridge. I think we’re going to be in the archives for a while. It’ll save us having to run back and forth. He’s gonna meet us down there.” The elevator arrived and the door slid open and then shut behind them as they stepped into it. Duo stepped to the back of the elevator and firmly wedged himself against the back wall. He watched as Heero turned and swiped his card through the internal slot and then punched the basements code number in. A sly grin swept over the junior detective’s face as the lift started it’s decent. A few moments later it jerked to a halt. What the?“ Completely caught off guard, Heero found himself flung backwards into Duo “Duo, did you touch something?” he questioned raising an eyebrow as two wiry arms reached around him. “Not yet lover, but I’m working on it.” The reply was soft and seductive and seconds later he felt Duo’s mouth suckling gently on his neck, and his hand reach down to his groin and firmly rub the protruding bulge. “Fuck, Duo!
