"Everywhere I Look " Chapter 11 Well, it's complicated, Quatre. I mean, I still haven't heard Heero tell the whole story. Joy's told me her part, and I think she's being modest about the role she played in helping him make the decision to take action. But I haven't heard what Heero thinks of that yet. So anyway, here's what I know so far. Like I said, at dinner one night, Heero saw the Fine Arts Today piece that featured me. Joy drew his attention to it, and he reacted strongly to seeing me. That took her by surprise because she'd never seen him other than calm, confident, and in control. She went back to watching the interview and was surprised again when she saw he had slipped away without saying a word. So she knew something was wrong. Know what she did about it? She went after him. I know, I know. Heero comes across as stern at best. Hell, when I met him, I couldn't tell if he was pissed at me or depressed, or -- No, I'm not talking about when I shot him, but when -- Oh, come on, Quatre, wipe the smirk off your face. So, yeah... Joy found him working out in the ship's gym and confronted him, as in, "I know something's wrong; want to talk about it?" Right. Just gave her his stone-cold stare. Um, what time is it? Okay, so I'll have to make this short. She blew up at him for the silent treatment and stalked out of the gym. I know. I'm not sure she would have if she had known he was the man who promised to kill the girl who gave him an invitation to her birthday party. But she did blow up at him. When she told me that, my respect for her really leveled up. To his credit, he found her, they talked, and -- um, and -- well, she told him, um... that I was the luckiest guy on two-and-a-half worlds, and that he had to go and find me. No, I am not blushing. ~ * ~ |
