"Blindness "

Disclaimer: Don’t own Duo or Heero. Not Gundam Wing either.

Summary: This is strange. Definitely. Probably one of the strangest stories I’ve ever written. My only excuse is that it is loosely based on Tsukasa’s dream in .hack//SIGN. Yes, I’m in love with that series.

Warnings: Uhh, squickness , strangeness ,

Pairings: implied 1+2

Rating: PG 13

Blindness

The sun had shone for the most of the days - no, more than one day, and more than one night too. It shone almost fearfully today, down upon the scene below her in which she didn’t want to witness. It was calm - not a single breath did the wind want to offer the landscape - but there was something in the air making it feel as if a steady, monotone buzzing echoed all around them. It was disturbing, but nothing was really out of the ordinary.

‘Them’ were actually two people, one girl and one boy. The girl was petite, short and slim, and wearing a white dress to cover her ivory skin. A white hat, complete with flowers in the same colour adorned her golden locks and the brim covered her eyes.

The boy was taller than her, dressed in familiar black spandex shorts and a loose green tank top. His chocolate bangs kissed his nose and eyelashes carefully. In his right hand, he held a gun aimed towards the girl.

“I want you to answer some questions.” He told her evenly.

The girl’s eyeless face wrinkled up until the boy could see a thin, smiling mouth. “Shoot.” It said.

The boy did.

“How is he?”

“Still in coma, Mr. Maxwell.”

“When will he wake up?”

“Your guess is as good as mine, Mr. Maxwell.”

“He *will* wake up, won’t he? . . . Doctor!”

“It is still unsure, Mr. Maxwell.”

“Stop calling me Mr. Maxwell!”

***

The girl flew backwards but remained standing. She looked down slowly and wordlessly as the spreading redness on her stomach - it went in deep contrast with white skin. She looked up again and smiled. “How are you?” The mouth asked before she suddenly vanished.

The buzzing sound in the background seemed to increase.

The boy looked around, but no one was nearby, nothing was nearby. Nothing but sand. There was sand wherever he looked. Sand, sand, sand. And sand.

The boy began to wander.

***

“You should go home, Mr. Maxwell.”

“I thought I told you not to call me that.”

“His condition is remaining unchanged.”

“Thanks for nothing.”

***

The girl appeared in front of him and he stopped. Her dress was now completely red, it was colouring her bare arms crimson and dropping onto the hot sand. The tips of her hair touching the dress were also crimson.

The girl’s mouth was smiling again, smiling each time a droplet of blood touched the sand and coloured it too, crimson.

Her head tilted upwards slowly each time wetness hit sand. The boy didn’t breathe.

A nose could be seen above the mouth now . . . a petite, slightly upturned nose. It was as white as the rest of her skin.

***

“He has stopped breathing, Mr. Maxwell.”

“What?”

“We are doing everything we can.”

“Heero!”

***

Above the nose came more white skin. And more. And more. Finally, she was standing with her face raised in the air.

But she had no eyes.

Where white orbs and pupils in various colours usually could be seen was nothing but empty mother-of-pearl skin, up to her golden hairline.

The boy shivered.

//“Heero!”//

He woke up.
