Nobody’s Perfect

Chapter 6

So it had turned out the way he had feared: a dreadful game of cat and mouse. Big, mighty cat that held its prey in its claws until it was tired of playing. Eating his soul, sucking away his life.

Keeping notion of time had become so futile. Time was nothing anymore, only something that stood between him and the day his master would decide to set him free and end this twisted blackmail. All days had become alike, the only way he could’ve known what day it was, was by the newspaper he got every morning from Doctor J, or the news on the tv or radio. But he didn’t touch neither of those. He simply didn’t care anymore what day it was. What was the use anyway? Until one day in the week, Doctor J didn’t come by to pick him up. Only then he realised that it was Saturday, and that he had struggled himself through another week of misery and endless waiting.

It was now two weeks since Doctor J had started the mental breakdown, and by that time his pain went far beyond the boundaries of what he could bare. He had made desperate attempts to talk to Doctor J about the situation, but since he hadn’t done any of his paperwork for days, he refused to listen to his reasonings and just acted like he was air when he was talking to him, and at moments like that, the urge to show the old man his middle finger was pretty strong. But so far, he’d never done that. His common sense had always been strong enough to overpower that anger, because he knew all too well that the farce of Perfect Soldier irrevocably would falter, if not at once scatter if he would be foolish enough to do such a thing.

“You take your punishment quite well,” he had said one day in the third week, maybe Wednesday or Thursday. “I’m willing to lighten it a bit. From now on you can go home and come to work on your own, and you can have your phone and cell phone back.”

Joy? Happiness? He could’ve felt it. And of course he had felt it, tons of it. But Heero wouldn’t have been Heero if he didn’t find anything suspicious about this, and Heero wouldn’t have been Heero if he didn’t find out what was so suspicious about it. His happiness only lasted for a very brief moment, for very soon he had figured out what was the hidden meaning behind his sudden release. It was nothing but a devil disguised in an angel , a sweet lollipop with venomous poison inside. But Doctor J would see just how many wits he still had. He was desperate, but not stupid. Seeing Duo was still unacceptable, although it would be very difficult not to pick up that phone and call him to come over and hump like crazy. Surely Duo would notice that he partially had his freedom back, but it shouldn’t be that hard to make him understand that, right? No, for now, he still had to keep up his life the way it was. Not being with him in his private life, and only seeing him at work the few times Doctor J was gone, however hard that might be.

**********

Three seconds he gave himself. Three seconds before he would find himself being hugged and kissed and crushed against the wall by Duo in a position not suitable for younger children’s eyes, and especially not for Doctor J’s eyes. It might’ve been coincidence, but Doctor J happened to arrive at work the very same moment Heero arrived, and Heero grumbled something like “paranoid old lunatic”. He went into the building, closely followed by his supervisor, and instead of the elevator, he took the stairs, sprinting up to the third floor in an attempt to shake him off. But the man had a surprising condition for his age. How old was he anyway? Seventy? Eighty? Not according to the pace he was chasing him now with his obsessed mind.

However, when Heero came at the top and turned into the corridor, he hid behind the corner.

How he had figured it out, he didn’t know, but sure enough, the voice of his lover welcomed him the moment he had set foot in the corridor.

“Hee-chan! What a surprise to see you!” he yelled, throwing his arms around him. “So, the old lunatic’s not with you? Oh, has he set you free?”

A whole lot of different feelings had been swirling and bubbling inside of him. Hope, desire, anger. Now it was unmistakably anxiety, and he had to summon all his willpower to do the most crazy thing, something he never would’ve done when he knew Doctor J was nowhere to be spotted. His only option to save his own hide was to momentarily crush the boy’s heart and strike both him and Heidi with surprise. He grabbed Duo by his throat, not in a killer’s grip, but hard enough so he would know it was serious, and pushed him against the wall like that, his gun pressed against his temple. His eyes were all ice-blue flames and his voice was a low growl as he bent over to his ear.

“If you ever do that again, I swear to God, I will kill you,” he hissed. But his voice dropped to a whisper when he still added something after that threat, just a few quick words to reassure Duo.

“He’s watching us. Play along with me.” As he lowered his gun again, he slid a little piece of paper in Duo’s pocket, unnoticeable to Doctor J, then let him go again and went to his office without saying another word.

With his mouth open and his eyes big he watched him go and felt inside his pocket, but Heidi jerked him inside the office before he got the chance to be stupid enough to go and read it right in front of Doctor J’s eyes.

“Heidi!” he yelped.

She slammed the door shut and moved towards him. “Surely, you’re not gonna read it where Doctor J can see it?!” she scowled.

“But I… I was confused,” he stammered.

“I can understand that, but you heard what he said. Doctor J was watching.”

“Oh, have you heard it too?”

“Yes, but only just. I’m pretty sure Doctor J hasn’t heard it. Now, what does it say?”

So he read out loud.

Duo

I knew you would be the first to welcome me. Yes, I have a part of my freedom back. He doesn’t lock me up at home anymore, but still at the office. Though this might sound like good news, it’s not. I know he’s testing me. So if I, by any chance, treat you a little harsh sometimes, it’s solely for that reason. I still love you. God, I love you madly and I can’t wait for the day we can do all the things we want. But for now I still can’t pay you a visit, and for the love of God, don’t visit me at home either. By the way, how’s that plan of yours going? Still working on that? And have you seen my gun? Can’t find it anywhere. Hope I’ll find it soon, though. Doctor J, you know.

Bye now
Heero

“So he’s testing him,” Heidi said. “That surely explains why he has grabbed you by your throat just now. Does it hurt?”

“No, not that much,” Duo said, feeling his throat. “But still, that guy doesn’t know his own force.”

“And what about that plan?”

“Oh, haven’t I told you about that yet? I’m gonna try to steal Doctor J’s coat. It contains everything to scare and torment Heero, but without all that, he’s just a helpless old man.”

“Ooh, that so exciting! Can I help? Maybe we can do it together!” she yelled.

“Yeah, maybe that’s a good idea. Heero said he’s pretty strong.” He folded the paper and put it back in his pocket. “It’s good to know Doctor J doesn’t drop him off at home anymore. Now I can give him his gun back.”

“That’s right, you still have that. He’s left that in Trowa’s and Quatre’s office, ne?”

“Yeah, he forgot it in his haste to get back to his office.”

“But in his letter he said you couldn’t pay him a visit.”

“How else do you expect me to give it back to him? It won’t take long. And he said he wanted it back as soon as possible, ne? Fat chance Doctor J’s gonna be there on that very moment.”

“But…”

“Nah! Don’t try to talk me round. Tonight, after work, I’m going over there, period,” he said stubbornly.

She opened her mouth again to still say something, but knowing there was no point in starting a discussion with him, she sagged her shoulders and closed her mouth again. “Alright, but I’m going with you,” she muttered after a little pause.

“Alright.”

**********

Duo was pleased and exuberant like a toddler at the four o’ clock school bell to leave the office that evening. He was going to see his love again. And really see him this time. Not being pinned against the wall again, but hugged and kissed and who knows, maybe fucked? At least, that’s what he thought. The ride to his house had only taken about ten-fifteen minutes, still Heidi had managed to drive him nuts. She still happened to be firmly convinced of the fact that it wasn’t a good idea to go over there. But there was no way she could make him change his mind and turn back that car. She might as well have been talking to the car seat she was sitting in.

At length they arrived, and not aware of any harm, Duo got out of his car, gun in his hand. The moment he stuck his head outside however, frantic hollers welcomed them, though they were not meant on him, but a certain… 32??

“32! 32, come back dammit! You stupid, fucking… Come back here this very instant!”

With a stupid face, Duo turned his head in the direction of the yells, and he saw a pretty outrageous dog running towards him, behind him a desperate Heero vaulting for the fleeing animal. In spite of the attempts to catch his pet, the dog sprang over the fence and hit a dumbfounded Duo full on his chest, causing him to fall backwards and dropping the gun on the ground.

“Duo!” Heidi panicked. The dog dug its claws in Duo’s clothes and ripped them apart, hungry for the flesh underneath them. Heidi grabbed the collar of 32, which indeed seemed to be its name, but the massive animal didn’t move an inch.

“Heidi, give me the gun!” Heero said from behind the fence.

“What? No! Don’t shoot him!”

“I’m not gonna shoot him! Just give it to me!”

If it wasn’t for the perilous situation Duo was in now, she probably wouldn’t have done it, but even if he would shoot the dog, hell, Duo was more important than him, so she picked up the gun and lay it in his outstretched hand. Then she moved away from the dog, and covered her ears and squeezed her eyes shut, but no gunshot followed. Instead he used the safety of his gun to get the dog quiet. Two short clicks and then another one, and as if by magic, the dog let go of Duo. Suddenly very meekly, it made for the railing, and Heero could lead him back into the garden like a tame little lamb.

“What am I gonna do with you?” Heero sighed, slightly shaking his head.

“Yeah, it’s quite a dog, jumping at me like that,” Duo agreed with him.

“I meant you,” Heero said. “I thought I told you in my letter not to come here. You did notice I slipped a letter in your pocket? Of course,” he said, slapping his hand on his forehead. “Otherwise you wouldn’t know Doctor J doesn’t drop me off anymore. Heero Yuy, when did you become so negligent?”

“But… I… In your letter stood that you wanted your gun back as soon as possible. And Trowa has brought it to me, didn’t know what he had to do with it. You left it there from forcing the lock of their office, remember?”

“Yes, I do, now that you mention it,” he said dreamy. “Anyway, thank you very much for bringing it back to me. And I apologize for 32 attacking you. It won’t happen again. At least, not as long as I have my gun. He’s trained with the clicks of the safety, you see. I have figured out several codes, and each code is a different command. He’s been unmanageable for a whole week.”

“I see,” Duo said, a bit recovered from his fall. All of a sudden he bent over the fence to Heero. “What do you say, koi? Now that I’m here… a quick lay on the backseat of my car?”

Heidi gave a whoop of excitement on that proposal, and Heero’s face also twitched to slight desire, but still he shook his head. “Duo, you know I love you, but now you really have to go. We can’t take the risk. And you’d better take care of those scratches you’ve got there,” he said, nodding to his chest, although he had to admit that the naked skin looked very enticing.

“Alright,” Duo sighed. He turned away from him, but still caught Heero by surprise by snatching his head back and pressing his lips on the one’s of the Japanese. The latter kissed back, a little deeper, little more passionate than he had intended, and in the end they found their tongues in each other’s mouth, until Duo quickly pulled back when his battered skin touched the fence.

“Aw…” he groaned. “Koi, I hope I’ll see you again really soon. Bye bye.” He waved his hand to him and got into his car, his face painful, both from the wounds on his chest and from the goodbye.

Heero watched both of them drive away and heaved a sigh of relieve, yet his heart felt heavy. “Bye bye,” he said.

**********

How long was it since she had been outside again? All days had become so alike. Was it already nine months she had been locking herself up in the house? Must be. The weather had changed a lot. In the beginning the trees threw their fallow leaves down on the world, and some time after that the heavens let their crystal-white snowflakes whirl down. But now the air was filled again with the merry singing of the birds and the bright rays of the sun. Through her open window, a pleasant warmth and a pungent, yet sweet scent hovered inside. The scent of a mid-summer evening. For some reason, her father had always advised her to stay inside. Said it was bad for her wounds. Who cares, they had healed enough by now. And her father wasn’t home, so who would stop her? No, enough of it. This time she was determined. She wanted to take a walk for days, weeks. It wasn’t like her to stay inside with a weather like this. And taking a walk was what she was going to do right now.

As she stepped outside, she took a deep breath, filling her lungs with oxygen. Although it indeed was very warm, still she clad herself in a long-sleeved shirt and gloves, though made from a very light material. She started walking, nowhere in particular in fact, and her way brought her along Heero’s house. Ever since she had approached his house on a few metres distance, she could see something glittering in the sun. Silver sparkles amidst the grass of the verge. Her curiosity enticed her to kneel down and take a closer look at it.

“Why, that’s… a Lord’s Prayer,” she said softly, picking up the piece of jewellery and examining it intently. “No, it couldn’t be… Duo’s Lord’s Prayer? But it is, I recognise it. How in the world did that end up here?” A bit dazzled from her find, she got back up, but as she clutched the silver gem against her chest, her mind soon got lost in remnants of the past. Recollections of how wonderful life was with Duo. He loved to flirt, that much was true, but she knew that he cared about her more than anything in the world. Such a shame he had to die.

“I wonder what has become of the house,” she thought out loud. “Would someone have bought it and rebuilt it? In fact, why not take a look at it? Doesn’t hurt to just watch, ne?” And so she continued her way, to their burnt down and ruined love-nest.

“Oh please, would you stop squirming like that?!” Heidi yelled.

“But it hurts!”

“Oh, for God’s sake, Duo! You have been a Gundam pilot!”

“Yeah well, maybe I’m not used to pain anymore, alright?! And I think you have cleaned those wounds enough already,” he said, fidgeting on his chair as he saw her hand with the wet cloth in it coming closer to his chest again. “Now, give me back my Lord’s Prayer, then I’ll get another shirt.”

“I don’t have your Lord’s Prayer,” she said.

“How do you mean, you don’t have my Lord’s Prayer? Didn’t you take it off to nurse my chest then?”

“No, I didn’t. I thought you had already taken it off yourself.”

“Then where is it?” he panicked, jumping upright and searching the carpet.

“I don’t know. But you still had it when we left the office this evening.”

“That dog,” Duo suddenly said. “Heero’s dog. When he attacked me, he must’ve ripped that away as well. I have to go back.”

“No, you shouldn’t. Heero wouldn’t like it if you hung around his house again.”

“But you know how much I’m attached to it,” he argued.

“I’ll go,” she said. ”You’d better rest a bit now.”

And before he could say another word, she had dashed out of his house and had taken the car towards Heero’s house.

Funny. Or spooky was rather the word she should use. The house had been rebuilt alright. Rebuilt in exactly the same fashion as it used to be, as if it hadn’t burnt down at all.

Several minutes she stood there, gazing and wondering like that, drifting off into sweet dreams. Suddenly a voice crashed through her train of thoughts, and she had been seriously wondering if it had been reality or still one of her concoctions, for it was a hauntingly familiar voice.

“Aw dammit! Stupid… If I get that dog in my hands, I’ll declaw him personally!” it hollered.

Cautiously she inched towards the door and rang the bell. With a racing heart she waited until the door opened, and when it did, all happiness and joy she could’ve felt in a whole lifetime assembled in her very being. There, in that door opening, stood Duo Maxwell, more living than ever.

“Heidi, you’re back already. Forgot your key again?” he said, not really paying attention to who was actually really standing in front of him. “Come on in.”

A bit bewildered, she let herself being pulled inside, the Lord’s Prayer still hidden in her clenched fist.

“So, have you found it?” he asked, dragging her with him to the living room. When he got no answer, he turned around again, only to see she was looking at him awkwardly. “Heidi? What’s wrong? Why are you so quiet? You haven’t said a word since you’re inside, that’s not like you. And for the love of God, why are you wearing gloves?!” he exclaimed, noticing them for the first time. “It’s sweltering outside!”

“Duo,” the girl said softly. “I don’t know who Heidi is, but… I’m not.”

“How do you mean, you’re not? You’re not Heidi? Then who on earth…?” He abruptly cut his sentence off and his breath caught in his throat as he felt pretty much the same as the girl had felt when he had opened the door just now.

“Duo, take a good look at me,” she said.

“Hil… de? Hilde, is that you??” he asked, still under the delusion that his eyes were deceiving him. “My God, it really is you.” He examined her face from every angle, but it were her eyes that distinguished her more clearly from Heidi. In a way, they were more mature, although they were both approximately the same age. “C-come on in, have a seat. Wanna drink something?” he stammered.

“Funny you should ask me that in my own house,” she smiled, sitting down on the couch.

“Yeah, well. I’m sorry…”

“But I’d like a glass of water.”

He went to the kitchen to fetch a glass of water and a cola for himself, and gave it to her.

“Thank you,” she said.

As he sat down, his eyes remained rested upon her, as if he didn’t really believe it was her. “Now tell me,” he said. “What’s the story? I thought you were dead.”

She gave an understanding nod with her head. “The fire,” she said softly. “Well, it all started with the tv acting weird. There came little sparks from the wires, so I tried to call you, but…”

“I know, I’ve heard all that on the voice mail of my cell phone. And I tried to get here as soon as I could, but when I wanted to get you out of here, one of the neighbours pulled me back. But why didn’t you call your father?”

“I did. After trying to call you five times in a row, I gave up. Then I called my father, and he already picked up the first time. Fortunately, he arrived just in time, and could get me out of the house right before the roof broke down.”

“I see,” Duo said amazed. “But… It’s already been nine months. Why have you never contacted me?”

“I tried to stay inside the house as much as possible. My hands and most part of my arms were covered with heavy burns because I used them to protect my face. They couldn’t see any sunlight. And it’s not really all that agreeable to walk with gloves all the time.

“Oh, so that explains the gloves and the long-sleeved shirt.”

“Yes, it does. Besides, I thought you were dead too.”

“You what?!” he exclaimed perplexed. “You thought I was dead? What… what makes you think that?!”

“Well, that’s what my dad told me. That you had died in the fire while you were trying to save me, but that your body was nowhere to be found.”

“But… Why did he tell you that?” he said, his eyes big at the fact that her father had actually fooled her like that.

“He never thought you worthy of me. I had to hear it a lot that you weren’t good enough for me, that I deserved much better. And then I always told him that I was proud of you because you fought in a battle to obtain total peace, but he kept on saying that you were just another one of those fire-eaters.”

“Why that… If I… He’d better not come near me, my hands might find themselves around his fucking neck! Excuse my language.”

“See, that’s how I know my Duo again,” she said merrily, obviously sharing his opinion.

“And you know what’s the worst part of all?! He came visiting me in the hospital, not out of friendliness or concern, I should’ve know that. But do you know what he said? He said it was my fault that you were dead. He actually came telling me that, that you were dead, Hilde!”

“Truly unbelievable, that man. I can’t believe he would even do such things to keep me away from you.”

“But… there’s something else that’s not quite clear to me. You were pregnant. So then where’s the baby?”

“Yeah, there is no baby,” she said quietly, inclining her head a bit. “I had a miscarriage. But let’s talk about more pleasant things.”

“Oh, okay,” he said, his stomach twisting at the bad new, but not digging deeper into it since he saw that she didn’t want to talk about it. “Such as?”

“Are you seeing someone right now?”

That question caught him off guard and he started to feel a little uneasy. “Eh, why do you want to know?” he stammered.

“Well, since you thought I was dead, I figure you must’ve found yourself another girlfriend.”

“Right… Well, I… How shall I put this?”

“Duo? Don’t you have another girlfriend?”

“Eh… You know Heero, don’t you?”

“Oh yeah, Heero Yuy. Friend and colleague,” she smiled. “What about him?”

“Well ehm…” he said, feeling all the more nervous with every second that went by, dying inside at the thought of how she might react. “He, ehm… He has turned out to be a bit more than a friend. A lot more… in fact.”

“Duo, do you mean you are gay?!” she exclaimed.

“No, not quite…”

“Then what are you?!”

“Heidi, I’m bisexual!”

She froze in whatever she was doing and her eyes were about ready to pop out. “You like men *and* women??”

“Well, yeah. That’s about it.”

“But… How did you find out? I mean, you don’t turn into a bisexual just like that.”

“Well, you see, there’s this girl. Heidi’s her name. She has helped me to discover those feelings for Heero. But Heidi and me, we can’t go to Heero right now, because…”

“Hold on! You and Heero *and* that girl are together? Do I get that right?”

Duo nodded his head, and Hilde’s state of appall she was in only grew. “A threesome?” she whispered incredulously.

“Yeah, me, Heero and Heidi. It’s quite fun, you know.”

“Now, I knew you were capable of a lot, but this…”

Just then, they heard the sound of a car and the front door slamming shut. “Duo, please don’t get angry with me, but I haven’t found your Lord’s Prayer. I’ve really looked everywhere,” they heard coming from the corridor. Probably there still would’ve followed a whole litany of how attached he was to it and how many memories it carried with it, if it wasn’t for the girl who sat there in the couch. “Duo, who’s that?” she asked.

“Heidi, remember that girlfriend I told you about? The one who looked exactly like you? Well, that’s her,” he said a bit uncomfortable. “She’s still alive after all, but I’ll tell you all that some other time.”

The two girls looked at each other, their resemblance so great, it gave Duo the heebie-jeebies. There in front of him stood two women, equally as beautiful, both of them madly in love with him, and he himself also in love with both of them. But he didn’t want to choose. If he did that, he would break the heart of either Hilde or Heidi.

“Eh, can I propose something?” he said carefully. “Hilde, why don’t you join us? I’m quite sure Heero wouldn’t mind.”

“Oh, that’s such a great idea!” Heidi cheered. “The four of us!”

“No!” Hilde yelled disgusted. “I don’t want this! Duo, if you still want to see me, then you’ll have to make a choice! Either me, Heero or Heidi!”

Heidi went sitting down on the couch, determined to make her change her mind. “Hilde, come sitting next to me,” she said, tapping her hand on the free space next to her. But the girl seemed pretty reluctant to obey someone she had just met. “Sit!” Heidi barked, suddenly with a stern look in her eyes. Hilde still threw a glance to Duo, and he gave a nod with his head that she’d better do what Heidi wanted.

“It has taken me three fucking months to get those two to like each other. Don’t blow it.”

“But… Why?”

“Because anyone could see those two are made for each other. Only no-one had the guts to confront them.”

“And you did?”

“Girl, I’m pretty sure you know as much as I do that Duo loves flirting. I was only there to make him stop mourning about you. The moment he was over you, he was unstoppable again, and Heero was his most favorite and most willing target.”

The look in Hilde’s eyes was still skeptical and she seemed to have the feeling she didn’t really belong there. Duo had changed too much to her liking.

“You need a little conviction, don’t you,” Heidi said, squinting at her with a wicked grin. “Maybe you should watch them.”

“Watch them? You mean, while they’re…”

“Yeah, while they’re fucking each other. I do it all the time, and they don’t mind. It turns them on, being watched like that. You should try it, it’s very exciting. Those two bodies, covered with sweat, fighting for dominance.”

“You talk so freely about this topic,” Hilde said, putting her one leg over the other and turning slightly towards Heidi. “Isn’t this supposed to be something intimate and private?”

“See, that’s just it. We love and trust each other, and we know that no-one’s going to tell it around to others.”

“Then why are you telling me about it? It doesn’t make any sense.”

“You are an exception, since you used to be Duo’s girlfriend. But no stranger will ever know about it.”

“I see. So, how does it go? As you seem to be such an expert, I assume you can tell me all about it.”

“Aha! Getting interested, I see,” Heidi said triumphantly. “Well, it goes like this. In fact, it doesn’t really differ that much of a straight couple making love. First you have the usual arousing, caressing and kissing and stuff. But to get to the real thing, that’s something else. You see, since the entrance of a guy is so tight, they have to be prepared first. So, with their fingers…”

“Heidi, I think she knows enough by now,” Duo interrupted her professional explanation sheepishly.

“No, go on. Tell me everything,” Hilde said, making Duo sweatdrop with her answer.

Encouraged by the success she had with the girl, Heidi continued fervently. “Well, of course they couldn’t do without lubricant. Mostly they use it, then it hurts less. So for the preparing, they coat a few fingers with lubricant, then slip their fingers inside, one by one.”

“Eew! That’s so gross!” Hilde yelled.

“Well, maybe it is!” Duo retorted, a little offended. “But we like it. It feels good, and that’s all that matters to us.”

“That’s right,” Heidi agreed with him. “There’s nothing gross about it. Tell me Hilde, have you never given Duo a blow-job?”

“Well… Yeah, I have.”

“And did you think that was gross?”

“No. I loved him. It’s the most natural thing, ne?”

“Uhu. Do you know what I’m getting at?”

“Yeah. Yeah, I get it,” she said, looking up in thoughts, slightly wondering how it would be like. “And then what happens?”

“When the stretching is done, then they’re ready to start.”

“Start?”

“Fucking!”

“Right.”

“So, what do you say? Wanna watch them?” Heidi said, taking Hilde’s hands in hers.

“I don’t know…” Hilde said slowly.

“Ah, come on. Give it a try.”

“No… Not yet. I have just found out he’s still alive. It would be too soon. What do you think about it, Duo?” she said, looking at him with uncertain eyes.

“Hey, don’t look at me. You know me,” he said.

Hilde seemed to consider it, and Heidi was delighted to see that she at least had gotten her that far to be in two minds.

“I’d better go home now,” she said at last.

“You sure? It’s getting late,” Duo said.

“Father will be worried.”

“Phone is still standing on its old place.”

“You really don’t desist from it, do you,” she smiled. “Alright, I’ll stay. But only to sleep, nothing more. And in the spare room.”

“Ooh, yay! It will be so much fun!” Heidi cheered.

“Oh, by the way. I heard Heidi talking about a Lord’s Prayer. Is this what you were looking for?” she said, holding the necklace up.

“My Lord’s Prayer!” Duo cried. “How… Where did you…”

“I wanted to take a walk and I went past Heero’s house. It was lying there in the grass, just like that. When I saw it, I wanted to see our house again, but then I heard your voice. I just couldn’t believe it. It was really your voice.”

“Oh Hilde, I’m so glad to have it back. Almost as glad as having you back,” he said, giving a wink.

“Still haven’t lost your touch, have ya?” she said.

From her place on the couch, Heidi looked at her, her eyes floating somewhere between two extremes, being innocence and absolute mischief.

“Heidi, I said “only to sleep”. I’m not gonna watch them just yet. Maybe later, but not now.”

“I heard what you said,” Heidi reassured her, quickly nodding her head. “Besides, Heero’s not here anyway.”

“Yeah, now that you mention it. Where is he?” Hilde asked, looking around.

Duo slumped down in a chair and took a position that would be comfortable enough for at least a few hours.

“That’s a long story,” he sighed.

She had to admit that, when she first met Heidi, she didn’t really trust her, even found her utterly disgraceful when she had brought up the topic about the voyeur-thing. But frankly, later that night she had turned out to be quite a nice and warm-hearted girl, apart from her perverse traits. After Heero’s impressive, sad story, they had made dinner together, had watched some television, even had a pillow-fight and had managed to involve Duo in it, albeit against his will. But still, her mind kept on sticking to the fact that she actually likes to see how two boys are doing it. Two *cute* boys, she had stressed more than once. And moreover, that Duo agreed with that. Okay, that he was bi, she could still live with that. But that he liked it to be watched… It turns him on she had said. So does that mean that he never had a good, satisfying fuck in his entire life? Not with her? Did he have that in him all the time? How could that be? Duo, he was so normal, so passionate, so not-like-that, so… perfect. But ever since he had met that Heidi-girl, he had turned into a pervert, just like her. And a fag, although he surely didn’t behave that way. She disgusted them, always had. They were not normal, another race, and then even to think Heidi had proposed to watch them. What was she ever thinking? But she could never disgust Duo, not him, even if he was a fag. Would it really be so revolting as she thought, to watch him and Heero? Duo and Heero, two cute, nay (understatement of the century), adorable guys, Heidi had a point there. Kissing, French kissing, caressing? Heero’s hand roving over Duo’s chest, pausing to fondle a nipple, making Duo moan involuntarily, yet genuinely, then gliding further, until his skillful fingers slipped between his smooth thighs?

“No!” she said suddenly out loud, turning around in her bed. She had barely closed her eyes, or the provoking images returned. This time, Dou was on hands and knees. Heero sat behind him, bent over him, and was giving him gentle kisses in his neck and on his hair. And again, that stubborn hand sneaked to the same place, and this time reached it too, for Duo’s head all of a sudden shot upright, pleasure clearly readable on his face.

“Go away!” she groaned, stuffing her head under her pillow. But they didn’t. They kept on returning, like Heidi was using telepathy to make her see just how good it was. And every time they went just a little bit farther than before, until Heero was actually lying between Duo’s legs, and she could see him bucking his hips. Duo’s face was turned away from her sight, so that wasn’t a proof to her that he liked it, but she could almost hear him screaming. Oh! Oh God! Go-on! he cried. Go on! That’s it, Heidi!

“Heidi?!” Hilde said confused, shooting upright. She pricked up her ears and kept her breathing as shallow as she could.

“Heidi! Heidi, oh! Ah yeah!”

Her muscles relaxed and she let out a snigger. So much she was already floating between dream and reality that the sounds and images had created a shocking, but very realistic whole. That Duo. So much for the fact that she thought of him as a fag, he still liked girls too. And she wanted to be that one girl again. Ever since she had seen him, she had had the tendency to rip that shirt off his body and devour him, but the blow to know of each other that they were still alive had the upper hand then. Now at the other hand, she felt more excited with every scream he gave. His orgasm sounded to her like a call to come and see. See just how masculine he still was, even though he had a slight preference for boys. Or just to see how he was screwing Heidi. In fact, Heidi had actually sort of invited her herself.

“Hey, if you feel like it, you know where we are” she had said. Or to put it in Duo’s words: “It’s like watching a good porn movie, only with people you know.” But she couldn’t just walk right in there and say: “Hey, wanna fuck me too?” First of all, it sounded horribly pathetic, second, she was far from ready for this and third, she didn’t hear anything anymore. It was silent again.

“They must be asleep,” she said. She shrugged and went lying down again. “I’d better get some rest too.” Little did she know that the night was still young for Heidi and Duo. Soft moans were trickling through the wall again, girlish moans this time.

“I knew I should’ve slept on the couch, I just knew it!” she gruntled. But now it was too late for that. She had been caught in a trap Duo and Heidi had set up. They had insisted that she would sleep in the spare room, although Duo sure as hell knew those walls aren’t soundproof. He had built the house himself. The clever jerk, he had her caught between primitive lust and vicious jealousy to know he was lying there between the legs of another girl. Those moans, they pained her ears and stabbed through her heart when they eventually grew to screams.

“Stop it, Duo!” Hilde groaned.

“Go on, Duo!” Heidi cried.

“Enough now, Duo!”

“More, Duo!”

“Duo, no!”

“Duo, yes!”

“Duo!!” they both hollered at the same moment, one carried away with rapture, one eaten alive by rage. It was unbearable. He belonged to her. But could she blame him for being such a sexy motherfucker that everybody wanted? For having found another girlfriend, like she had expected him to do? Probably not. Either way, the situation was murderous. She wanted him, wanted him badly. Her panties were practically soaked, and her fingers were creeping up along her inner thigh. However, she realized it was insane to do this while the man she was aching for was just a few meters away, so she conquered her timidity and waved decency goodbye as she stepped out of her bed, her legs shaky with desire, and shuffled to the other room. As courageous she had felt in her own room, she lost heart when she stood in front of the door of Duo and Heidi’s room, heart pounding, still wavering if she would knock or no. She could already hear their wiseacre-like reproaches.

“See Duo? Told you she’d join us! She wants to get laid as well!”

“Well, look who we’ve got there! If it isn’t our little Hilde! What’s the matter, girlie? Couldn’t stand the thought of me humping another girl?”

Duo talking to her on a mocking tone like that would’ve been more painful than anything she could think of, and she refused to hear such a thing. She was just about to turn around and forget the whole thing, as she heard yet another moan from her former beloved. Her defense scattered, and with a bolting uterus, she knocked on the door.

“Come in!” she heard after a little pause. When she stepped inside, she felt like entering a sacred realm, a forbidden place, the bedroom of a king while he’s making love to his queen, although it once used to be her very own bedroom. Duo welcomed her with a warm, yet passion-clouded look, but Heidi didn’t heed her. She was doing quite a fine job of turning him into a huge pie with whipped cream, topped off with strawberries and chocolate sprinkles. At least, concerning his belly and lower parts. On his chest he had scratches, not too deep, but grave enough not to go and cover them with the sticky stuff. Footstep by footstep, she inched towards the bed, nervously fumbling the hem of the shirt she had borrowed from Duo, which had to serve as a night-gown.

“Hilde, you’ve come after all,” Heidi said softly, not on the tone she had feared to hear, but in a friendly voice, finally satisfied with the masterpiece she had created on Duo’s body. “Come into the bed. Don’t be afraid. He’s waiting for you as well,” she smirked, making a gesture with her eyes to his completely erected, cream covered member and crawling away from between his legs to sit on his left side. And reassured by their hospitality, she let herself sink away in renewed pleasure as she made love to him in ways she had never done before.

**********

And all that time, all Heero could do was dreaming. He dreamt that he was in his office, but his desk was gone, and replaced by a bed, made with satin sheets, laden with soft pillows and waiting to be used. He blinked a few times, and as he looked a little better, he could see something else amidst the multicolored, soft-hued cushions: a long, auburn braid, a golden gleam shining through the different segments. Suddenly the pillows moved and the tress glided along them. It belonged to a head, a beautiful head he recognized as that from his beloved Duo. He sat upright on the bed, his nakedness shielded by the pillows and the sleek sheets, and stretched his arm out to Heero, beckoning him to join him.

“Come,” he said softly.

He started walking, and as he did, he noticed a sudden coolness gliding along his body. If he had been like that all the time, he didn’t know, but by the time he got to the bed, his clothes were entirely gone, vanished into thin air, or just hadn’t been there at all. As he kneeled down, he felt no fear for whatever he should’ve been afraid of. He sat down beside him, removed the elastic of his lover’s braid and unraveled his silken hair to a dark-golden mass. He wanted to tell him how much he loved him, over and over again, a thousands of times, and still he wouldn’t find it enough, but somehow, those words coming straight from his heart, kept sticking somewhere in his throat. Instead, he could only look, and let Duo take advantage of that open mouth to kiss him. He easily gave him the upper hand and didn’t fight back in a ridiculous battle for dominance when he gently pushed him down on the mattress, lips still melted together. He felt no desire to show his skills, his experience, no need to impress or show off. Just to let Duo do as he pleased. He knew Duo was okay with that, he saw it in his eyes as he pulled away to look at him. Just to look, to take his beauty in through his eyes for what seemed to be an eternity. And all that time, Heero waited patiently until he would make his first move, and awaited what that first move would be. So many possibilities, so many things that could arouse him, Duo just had to pick one. What would it be? Following his collarbone with his tongue and lips, nibbling him against his jaw, or softly biting his ear? Kissing the palm of his hand and moving further along his arm, tickling on his belly? A hundreds of possibilities, but he choose only to caress him. Sweet, loving strokes with his fingers, soft, very soft. Exploring that skin as if it were the very first time. Feeling his muscles, his chest, his belly, while all the time his mouth kept on spilling superlatives of how handsome he was and how much he loved him.

All of a sudden Heero could feel some kind of moisture trickling down his temples and he had to conclude that it were tears. Also his heart felt differently. Was it happiness, emotion, grief, fear? He couldn’t identify it, no matter how hard he tried. He only knew, that there must’ve been a reason for that sudden change, he only didn’t know what was the reason. Something was pressing him, flustering him, and he knew that if he still wanted to make love, he had to do it now. They couldn’t delay much longer, though Duo didn’t seem to feel what he felt and hadn’t noticed his tears yet either.

“Duo,” he said, his voice shaking heavily. Duo looked up to his face and instantly bowed over him in sincere worry. “What’s wrong? Why are you crying?” he asked, wiping his tears away.

“There is something. I can feel something,” he said. “Duo, you must make love to me now. Don’t wait any longer.”

“But… I don’t understand, Heero. What is it that you feel? And why are you so hasty all of a sudden?”

The puzzled feeling in his chest kept on growing, until it almost felt like his heart would burst. “Duo, now!” he said urgently, shaking Duo’s shoulders. “Now, Duo! Do it now!”

All of a sudden, they heard the scraping of a metal key against the lock, and together with that sound, everything came back to Heero, and his heart seemed to explode with bottomless, endless fear, nothing but fear.

“Duo? Does Heidi have a key of the office too?” he asked.

“No.” He slowly turned his head in the direction of the door as he could feel a horrible realization coming over him. “Shit.”
