Author’s note: This fic is a rewritten version of a fic I once wrote, called Nobody’s perfect. Some might recognize it. I’ve added parts of both Duo and Heero’s past, Duo about his life on the street, Heero about his harsh training with Doctor J. The original story, the one in their present lives, basically stayed the same. I’ve also added a prologue and epilogue. I have indicated AU on Duo’s behalf, especially concerning his past. No Maxwell church, no sister Helen, no Sweepers on his fourteen years old. He did meet Solo. But I’m gonna stop rambling now before I give everything away. Don’t let the het scare you away, I promise some good boys on boys action ahead ^_~ Well, enjoy! Reviews would be nice.

Destination Eden

Chapter 20

They could do nothing more than watch the door open, holding on to each other and praying to whatever god they believed in as they faced the wrath of a madly obsessed man with only one purpose: destroying everything that stood between him and Heero, the result of many years’ labor and hard training. Destroying Duo.

Without saying a word, but with an expression on his face that told them everything they needed to know, Doctor J paced towards them, gun in his hand and pointed at Duo.

“Duo, get out of here,” Heero said, sighing feverishly. “Run. Quickly, run away.”

“Forget it, Heero. Think what you want of me, but I’m not gonna let you down now.” He Curled around Heero and held him with a protectiveness Heero had never experienced before, shielding his lover’s body with his own. Probably the very reason why Doctor J snapped.

“It’s me he wants, get out!” Heero said, squeezing his eyes shut, tears starting to run down his cheeks again.

“That’s exactly why he won’t shoot me.”

“No, I mean it, Duo! Leave, no-“ He abruptly cut his sentence off as he heard a gunshot ring through his ears. Red, warm liquid stained the hand that was holding on to Duo. He didn’t feel any pain himself. Duo’s blood. Must’ve been.

“Duo…” he whispered incredulously. All life seemed to drain from him as he looked up at his lover’s face and saw him staring back at him with glazed, lifeless eyes. A strangely contorted cry left his mouth and he clutched the bleeding body in his arms.

“See what that boy has done to you. Look at you,” Doctor J hissed. “He has made you weak, pathetic.” The old man paced towards the bed, making Heero shrink back. He tried to pry his arms away from Duo. Heero felt Doctor J’s hands around his arms, Doctor J felt him jerking back. Let go now, boy. Finally succeeding in separating the two, he grabbed the dead boy by his chestnut strands and dragged him away from Heero. Through the tears blurring his sight, Heero saw him mercilessly throwing him aside like an old, worn-out rag doll. His arms reached out like a little child that has to hand in his favorite pet, like a lover who’s lost his lover.

“Kill me,” Heero sobbed. “I demand that you kill me!”

He should’ve known better though. He should’ve known that Doctor J was much crueler than that. Rather let him live a life of misery than give him the release of death.

“You will never love again…” he growled.

Heero watched him point his gun right between his legs. His eyes widened as he realized just what he was planning to do.

“NO!!” he hollered, clasping his legs tightly against his chest and squeezing his eyes shut. The sound of another gunshot pierced through his head.

After that, it was awfully quiet. He didn’t hear anything, didn’t even feel any pain. Slowly he opened his eyes again, above him he saw the off-white ceiling of his bedroom. Also, he no longer found himself sitting hunched up in a strange bed, but lying on his back in his own. A dream. A gunshot! He jumped up with the recollection of what had happened in his dream and quickly looked under the sheets.

“No blood, no pain,” he whispered. Reaching his hand down, he felt between his legs, tentatively, carefully. “It’s still there,” he sighed relieved. “It was only a dream.” As relieved as he was, soon the remaining shreds of his nightmare came back to him. Doctor J had shot Duo. The mere thought of that twisted lunatic murdering the one he truly loved awakened a deep anger inside of him, together with and endless sadness and despair. There was nothing at all he could do about it. Idly he wondered. When I'm no longer here, will the world stop turning? Really, he wanted to die. He couldn’t have been more tired of living. It was only Duo that still kept him going. Only Duo he needed more than anything else now. Yes, for Duo the world would stop turning if he were no longer here.

“Duo, I wish you were here,” he groaned, about to burst out in tears of pure misery. “To prevent me from doing stupid things. To stop me from killing myself.” He wanted to pick up the phone and call him, but then again, if Doctor J taped his phone calls and heard all his messages, then he could start saying his prayers. “No, he wouldn’t. That’s just plain sick,” he thought out loud. “But what if he does? You never know. And I don’t want another night like last night.” He was in two minds, didn’t know what to do. He was desperate for Duo’s support, but was also deadly afraid of Doctor J. “God, I’m going paranoid!” he hollered, burying his face in his hands. Extreme fear, the root of extreme distrust and suspicion.

“Heeerrooo!” he heard someone singing. “Open the dooooor!” He looked up sharply and jerked his head towards the window. Bright sunshine. Only now he saw that he had slept the morning away. It was already noon.

“Duo?” he said, stumbling upright and hurrying over to the window. Down below he indeed could see the former Deathscythe pilot staring up, playing with his braid in boredom. “Duo!” he yelled, still not capable of opening his window since Doctor J hadn't replaced them yet. “Hold on, I’m coming!” He rushed down the stairs and opened the door for him to come in.

“Heero, you goddamn sleepyhead. You had me worried there. I try to call you, no one picks up. I come knocking at your door, no one opens. I thought Doctor J had done something again,” Duo rattled.

The moment he set one foot inside, Heero threw his arms around him, stopping his babbling, and held him close, never wanting let him go again.

“Have you ever felt so miserable that you wanted to commit suicide?” he sniffled against Duo’s shoulder.

“What?” Duo said startled. “Heero, what happened?” He pulled him away to look him in the eyes and as he did so, he noticed him wince in slight pain.

“Nothing. Never mind,” he mumbled, lowering his eyes. There is no such thing as “Nothing. Never mind, his mind hollered. Say it!

“No fucking way! Tell me what happened! And why are you wearing a long-sleeved shirt? It’s summer!” His eyes roved over his arms and on his wrists he caught glimpses of darker spots. “Are they bruises on you wrists?”

“That’s nothing! Been clumsy. Fell down the stairs,” Heero said curtly. Say it now! He keeps on pushing anyway!

Duo seized one of his wrists, determined to get the truth out of him. Heero whimpered slightly with his sudden action. “Heero Yuy, you were trained to be a Perfect Soldier. The day you are clumsy is the day I can’t get a hard-on. Now tell me the goddamn truth!”

Heero heaved a sigh and bowed his head. Told you. Keeps on pushing. “He saw us kissing.”

“What? Last night?”

“Yeah,” Heero said, nodding his head. “I had barely set foot in the house, or he was already behind me. It scared the hell out of me. I hadn’t expected it, in fact. Didn’t know he would be so fanatical to actually watch my every movement, but suddenly he was there and pounded me between my shoulder blades. Then he pushed me further inside and… started to beat me up, just like that. It was so horrible. I just wanted to die, wanted him to break my cranium or something. I had given up on life. I’d had enough. But then I thought about you,” he said, looking up at Duo. “And I knew I couldn’t die, that I had to live through it. I would’ve left you unhappy if I did.”

“But Heero,” Duo said almost breathlessly. “Aren’t you in a lot of pain then? Internal bleeding or stuff like that?”

“No, I can take care of myself,” he smiled. “Besides, pain wasn’t the reason why I wanted to die, just the reason why he did it.”

“Come here,” Duo said softly, opening his arms for him, and Heero gladly accepted his gesture.

“At least you still love me.” Heero's reply was a little muffled.

“Oh, but there are a lot of people who love you, you silly guy,” Duo consoled him. “In fact, I have someone sitting in the car who wants to get to know you a little better.”

“Oh yeah? Who?” Heero said surprised. “Not Heidi, she has already seen everything of me.”

“Just wait,” Duo said mysteriously.

Heero watched him darting back to the car. Two girls stepped out. Heidi and… another Heidi? Did she have a twin sister? He looked at Duo with a questioning and confused look, not quite understanding that it was his rival for the simple reason that he assumed her dead.

“Spooky, isn’t it,” Duo smiled, “to see someone of who you thought she was dead standing there?”

With a highly incredulous look, Heero’s eyes hovered back to the girl that looked most mature. “Hilde? Is that you?”

“Yes, it’s me, Heero,” she said, nodding her head. In her voice, Heero thought he could hear the slightest tone of rivalry and challenge. Could’ve been his imagination though.

“I know, I couldn’t believe it either. But it’s really her. I recognized her scent last night,” Duo said, looking at her with a dreamy and warm smile.

Heero looked sharply at him, dumbfounded and, to his surprise, feeling something that must’ve been plain jealousy. It threatened their relationship, to know that he apparently had made love to her. Hilde threatened their relationship. Well yeah, what you could call a relationship.

Heidi saw his worries and put her arm around his waist. “Don’t worry, honey,” she whispered in his ear. “Duo loves you, only you. It was me who dragged her into it, not him. And it was me who has convinced her to watch the two of you…”

“What? Watch us?” Heero hissed. With a deadly glare he turned back to Duo. “Hilde, Heidi, get inside,” he growled, keeping Duo trapped in his heated gaze.

Both bounced inside and made themselves comfortable on the couch, slightly amused with the perilous situation they had got Duo into. Cross-examination! Talking about the situation, like Duo had suggested, would become a far away topic, they realized.

“Duo, what’s the meaning of all this?” Heero hissed.

“Oh, Heidi has already told you, I see,” Duo smiled nervously.

“I can’t believe you actually agreed to this. Duo, you’re turning this into vulgar group sex. Besides, think of the risk we’re taking. Doctor J knows you’re here, for sure.”

“My sweet Heero,” Duo said, taking his shoulders and looking him in the eye. “Did you really think I would let the old fool harm you even more than he already has? First thing on Monday, I’m gonna carry out my plan, should’ve already done that weeks ago. In the mean time, I’m not gonna leave your side for a single moment.”

“But Duo…”

“No Heero, don’t argue. I’m tired of that constant cautiousness. I’m staying with you 'till Monday, and after that, it will all be over.”

His genuine concern touched Heero, moved him. It showed him that his feelings were sincere and that he wasn’t planning on playing some ridiculous game with his heart, but that he just wanted to have some fun, albeit in very extreme and farfetched ways. Duo was like that. So would it really be so bad to just give into it?

“Duo, how far are you gonna take this? First Heidi, now Hilde. What’s next? Are you gonna involve Quatre and Trowa in this too? Or tape us and broadcast it all over the building?”

“Heero, you’re exaggerating. I just want to show her that there is nothing wrong with what we’re doing, that’s all. Please Heero, just once,” he wheedled with endearing puppy-eyes and again that little pout. “Please?”

“Oh, get your ass up to that bedroom before I change my mind,” Heero said, gesturing with his head to the stairway.

Duo gave an excited little yell and clapped his hands in delight. “Girls! He said yes!” he yelled in the direction of the living room, already with a foot on the lowest step. “Let’s get upstairs!”

Heidi excitedly stuck her head out of the door of the living room. “Heero, are you gonna do it? Are you really okay with it?”

“Yes, but only once. Do you hear me, Duo? Only once,” he said, turning to his lover. “Now, let’s go.”

With high expectations and a racing heart, Hilde followed the three of them. What had become almost a routine for them, was completely new for her, and as excited as she was, still she was the last one who was completely free from her clothes.

“Go on, Hilde. Take your clothes off,” Heidi said, trying to pull her shirt over her head.

“What? Do I have to get undressed too? I thought I could just watch,” she said with a disquieted face, crossing her arms in front of her chest, uncomfortable with the sudden nakedness.

Duo crawled behind her and gently unfastened her bra. “One good turn deserves another, honey,” he said softly in her ear.

Feelings he had rarely felt tickled in Heero’s stomach. So rarely, he had forgotten what they were. Maybe it was slight amusement, even gloating as he saw Hilde in such a situation. That girl who seemed so determined to win Duo’s heart back, now so uncertain and small. Strange actually. Who would’ve ever thought that he would end up in the same bed with her, both of them naked, he dominant, she insecure. He could’ve used her so easily now, and then tossed her aside, just like Duo had done to him months ago in his stupid ignorance. And neither Duo or Heidi would find that a bad thing. Anyone could use anyone. It was one of the rules in this delicate game, for as far there *were* rules. He wondered what it would feel like to fuck someone you hate? Not like with a whore, where you go in, shoot your load, pay and leave again. No, really hate. Just raw, meaningless sex, no feelings of affection, no love. Just lust, ecstasy, pleasure and an explosive orgasm at the ending. His chance to find out was right in front of his eyes.

But still, there were other ways to nag her, ways that most probably would’ve been a helluvalot more painful to her. If he were to screw Duo right in front of her eyes, make her witness just how much he enjoyed being pleased by him. Or no, even better. Duo himself taking the initiative to arouse and entice him. It would be Heero who felt that sweating body against him, who would feel those thrusting hips between his legs, who would scream and writhe under the sensation of his cock moving up and down inside of him instead of Hilde. Possibilities galore. No Heero. You shouldn’t think that way. It's not right to wish grief onto a person. That’s not the reason why she’s here.

A hand glided along his arm, carefully. Duo stared at him with a slight look of awe in his eyes. The bruises on Heero’s body were numerous, from light-colored to almost black, and he didn’t even want to start imagining how rough Doctor J had been. He knew he couldn’t heal those wounds, that was something only time could do. But at least he could cure the bruises on his precious soul. By making love to him, letting him know that he wasn’t really all that inhuman. Making love, like he was about to do now.

Soft caresses and gentle kisses on far too sensitive places brought Heero into the right mood. Hands which knew exactly what Heero wanted and lips which gladly re discovered already discovered places made his blood boil. “Duo… Please,” he panted.

“Heidi, lubricant please,” Duo said without taking his eyes off Heero.

Heidi, who’s hand seemed to be merged with a tube of lubricant at moments like this, grinned and handed him what he wanted. Duo started smearing his fingers with the lube, but Heero said a swift “no” and motioned with his eyes to Duo's cock, letting him know by that, that he didn’t need any of the stretching first.

“Are… you sure?” Duo asked hesitantly. “It will hurt more.”

Pain was the last thing on his mind, he had gone through worse. A yank at Duo’s hips and demanding blue eyes. “Fuck me… Now. I’m more than ready,” Heero whispered in his ear, his voice rumbling softly with lust. Not only was he aching to feel his American sex-bomb thrusting inside his narrow entrance, he also was dying to see that evil prophecy of him come true.

The violet-eyed demigod stalked over him and made him cry out as he gave a hard push with his hips. He felt Heero’s nails digging into his shoulders and knew those scratches would form a permanent memory. For a few brief moments, pain and pleasure were flirting with each other, until Duo pushed in again and hit his prostate. If Heero wanted to, he could’ve given a show like there was no tomorrow. Screaming louder than was actually necessary, wrapping his legs tightly around Duo’s pounding hips, when in fact his body told him that he could easily leave them where they were. All with the mere intention to plague Hilde. Yet, when he actually did those things, they were genuine reactions.

A dramatic expression lay on Hilde’s face. Heero’s screams sounded equally as dramatic in her ears. “Heidi, I think he’s in pain,” she said worriedly.

“It’s okay. He likes it,” Heidi reassured her.

Oh, he likes it. “Then why is he crying?”

Heidi looked at his eyes and saw that there were indeed tears running down his temples. “That’s from emotion. It can happen to anyone every now and then while making love. It happens by itself. But mostly they don’t feel it. He doesn’t feel it now. In fact, I’m pretty sure that if he knew he was crying, he would try to stop it. Tears are something as good as strange to him. But those tears Hilde, those tears are no tears of pain, or grief. Only happiness. Listen now.”

They both fell silent, hearing the screams weave through each other as their would-be lovers climaxed. Mouths wide open, eyes squeezed tightly shut, blissful peace afterwards.

Hilde almost waited for a triumphant smirk or a malicious glare from Heero. But all she could see was contentment and an endless inner peace. Most likely it did hurt, but she saw no regret.

Heero was happy now. His death wish was gone, had dissolved and was replaced with renewed hope, even a touch of happiness. He wanted to preserve that feeling as long as he could, no matter how long they lay there like that. Real life could wait, this moment should stay, just a bit longer.

The moment couldn’t last though, he knew that. Eventually it had to make way for real life again. Slowly the two resting bodies started stirring, reluctantly, and ever so calmly.

Heidi had managed to hold her tongue. Calm after the storm, they were so beautiful.

Duo rolled himself over to his side of the bed and landed with a lazy thud.

“Isn’t the weekend just great?” he smirked. “Sleeping till noon, fucking whenever you feel like it.”

“You always feel like it,” Heidi chirped.

“That’s a fact,” Heero agreed.

“I do, don’t I?” Duo sniggered, folding his hands behind his head. Suddenly he started singing a very familiar tune. “I’m a little hentai, bold and stout. This is my handle, this it my… Aw! Heidi!”

Heero jumped slightly when Heidi hopped over him and started tickling Duo. He watched them and felt a certain kind of merriment coming up inside of him. Actually strange how those two could be like that. How Duo could be bisexual, could enjoy the presence of men and women and how Heidi had brought them together. Commitment apparently was something abstract to her. Sure, she still frolicked around him like crazy and sure, she still lived together with him in the same house. But that was only because Heero couldn’t take too many risks right now. Undoubtedly they still humped each other, but he was convinced that it was not always because she wanted to, but for the mere reason that Duo was as good as insatiable. That would all change the moment they got rid of Doctor J.

“I’m gonna take a shower,” he said, getting up and sauntering to the bathroom.

To be continued…
