"Untitled"Written By: Keiran Disclaimer: I don't own Gundam Wing or its characters...
Shame about that. Pairings: 1+2 Warningss: fluff, sap. Rating: PG 13 Summary: Duo's on his way to Quatre's for Christmas but it won't be the same when Heero's still away on a mission. "Untitled"
This flight though, this was holiday. So there he was, feeling the tremors of the aircraft throughout his body. His fingers were twitching on his thighs involuntarily, trying to compensate for the vibrations with adjusting the imaginary controls. Are you alright sir? a stewardess asked, leaning over him. Duo smiled a little. Yes, thank you. Is this your first flight? I know that could be daunting. No, not first, he said. Let me know if you need anything, she said. Duo nodded and returned his attention to the window. Only Quatre would invite people over by having a delivery boy drop in and hand them a first class shuttle ticket. Still, he couldnt say he was complaining. He needed the holiday, more than anything. Each of the Preventers of the L2 division had a schedule that most unionized professions would consider sufficient for two. For Duo, however, it was a welcome change, after the war. After all, he was no longer expected to do with five what most men could only accomplish with five thousand. This Christmas took him by surprise, up to his ears as he was in a big case, but that was okay Heero was undercover, no way in hell he would be able to get back in time. So hed ignored the cheer, the trees and the cookies, save for a tiny decoration on their table. Nothing fancy either, just a few bits of a tree, a bulb, mistletoe and a candle. A pretty miserable way to spend Christmas by general standards, but by Duo standards it was enough. Of course, the plan was way too simple to be put it into action, when one had a family which included 'the' Quatre Winner. Hed just managed to wrap the case up when the delivery boy knocked on his office door. His commander got off the phone with Une that very same minute, to give him her blessing and wave him off. So here he was, sitting in the comfy first-class chair, staring out the window and desperately wishing for the shuttle controls. Despite his misgivings, the pilot turned out to be sufficiently competent and got the craft to the ground with no problems. As the passengers around him erupted in cheers, Duo leaned back and closed his eyes. There was no need to hurry. It would be a while before his duffel could be collected anyway, first class or not. Some time later he walked out into the arrivals hall, duffel slung carelessly over his shoulder. People were rushing to get out and he let them. A twelve year old girl ran by, her small suitcase making amusing clicking noises as it rolled behind her. She bounced out the door and paused, unsure, but almost as soon as she stopped she was running again and launching herself into the arms of a man in a brown coat. A dark-haired woman followed, smiling brightly as she too embraced the man. He kissed her warmly and picked up both of their suitcases. Duo watched them go, smiling. As soon as they were gone from view, he started looking for the promised ride. Quatre said he would, unfortunately, be too busy to pick him up from the airport, as it was either that or be bothered over the holiday. He did promise he would send someone to pick him up. Knowing Quatre, that someone would be a posh driver in a shiny limo. Dont tell me I made a mistake by not bringing a name tag. Or, perhaps not. You made it! The duffel fell to the floor. His laptop was in there, but Duo couldnt bring himself to care. If it survived the flight, it would survive the fall. He had more important things to worry about, like Heero, in all his blue-eyed, messy-haired glory and his outrageously addictive kisses. Duo hated commercial flights. But if he could step off
and throw his arms around Heero at the end
Well, maybe they
werent so bad after all. ~ * ~
