"Fucker" When she was just a kid, her father bought her a small cowboy figure made of crystal. She knew it wasn't glass, because it was much heavier. It was precious. It had shone in the sun, reflecting the world in the most beautiful rainbow colors. The walls would sparkle in red and blue and green, and if she moved the cowboy, the sparkles would turn around and twist like a huge kaleidoscope. The cowboy would protect her, he said. Nothing bad could ever happen to her, because the cowboy would take care of her if he couldn't.
And she'd believed him. Her childhood became easy, the knowledge that nothing was truly bad, because the cowboy would surely protest if anything were to happen. Her father told her more often, and the more urgent his voice got, the more she believed. When her mother died, the cowboy was there to shine just as brightly as he ever had. And the cowboy protected her when she was alone, and daddy comforted her at night.
Her father became a little strange after that, but the cowboy reflected the rainbow just as brightly as before, and she knew that daddy wasn't bad. His urgent voice made her frown sometimes, but he touched her comfortingly, told her everything was okay, and the cowboy said so too.
Innocent child that she was, she never realized how the touches became caresses, how the words of her father became tools of manipulation. Sometimes he would cry when he touched her, and the light would reflect in those tears, and she knew the cowboy was somewhere in there, making everything good. Maybe the cowboy was her father, and the way he held her was okay, even if it hurt and burned deep within her.
Later, when she spread her long legs for her lovers, she'd always keep the little crystal cowboy in view. And when she remembered her childhood as those rutting animals thrust into her, she thought that of all those fuckers, her father had still been the most caring.
