Let me get back to you.
Brace yourselves, guys. I had fun with this one.
BTW—I know, I know…another Chinese title. Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. It just fit in perfectly with the storyline.

"Quan Xin"

Epilogue

"Absolutely not."

"But Wufei, it would be perfect!"

How did I wind up in this conversation? I turned a glare onto the blond woman sitting beside me and gave her my best arrogant look. "I said no, and it will stay no."

Serena Winner was one of Quatre's (many) older sisters, and if she and Quatre were anything to judge by, some things were definitely genetic. Stubbornness, in this case. Her mouth set in a firm line. "Wufei, you are one of my brother's dearest friends, why won't you at least consider the idea?"

It had been a month since Heero had shot Relena. Since then, Relentless had been hospitalized for the gunshot wound, put under psychiatric evaluation for shooting at me (and her obsession with Heero naturally) and hence retired from politics altogether. Heero and I had escaped as soon as the dratted paperwork was finished (there turned out to be quite a bit when one’s partner shot the former Queen of the World) to a tropical retreat—where apparently we should have stayed. And we would have stayed there, if it hadn't been for Quatre's and Trowa's wedding.

Serena’s insistence on this matter was not entirely without basis. After all, Heero had proposed while we were on vacation—I smiled slightly at the memory and toyed with the engagement ring on my finger. Everyone was delighted to hear the news about our engagement.

The women especially.

Now, for whatever reason, they all had it in their heads that Heero and I should join in with our two friends and make this a double wedding. The idea might have held some appeal if I hadn't seen what a lavish wedding Quatre's sisters were hosting for him. A mental picture of putting myself through all of this ceremony made me shudder. I had retreated out here to a deserted corner of the patio thinking to avoid all of the women pestering me into this insane idea, but Serena was more persistent than most. "I have considered the idea, and the answer is still no."

She huffed in frustration. "But Wufei—”

Someone called her from across the patio, drawing Serena's attention. "Oh! Wait Wufei, I'll be right back."

She might be, but I certainly wouldn't wait for her. I shifted farther away into a corner of the patio, moving more into the shadows to avoid notice. Heero apparently had the same thought because we arrived at practically the same time.

"Remind me," he drawled in a low voice, "why are we here again?"

"Because this is the wedding preparation…brunch, or something like that." Quatre and Trowa were to be married in about a week. It seemed an eternity from now.

"Serena tried to talk you into a double wedding again, didn't she?" Heero didn't even sound surprised.

"Yes," I confirmed darkly. "I wish she'd give up." I wanted a quiet wedding. No muss, no fuss, and lots of good food with some fantastic sex to look forward to that night. Is that so hard to comprehend?

"Maybe we should elope…" Heero mused with a wicked smile in my direction.

I briefly perked at this idea. Elope? Eloping sounded good. There was only one drawback that I could see to this plan. "Quatre would kill us," I pointed out.

Heero glanced over to where our blond friend was standing. I glanced in that way as well—hm. Quatre was staring at us suspiciously. He couldn’t have possibly heard us all the way over there, could he…? Of course, I wouldn’t put it past him to bug the entire patio area just so he could eavesdrop on conversations as he wished.

“Aside from Quatre killing us, are there any other drawbacks…?” Heero was obviously weighing the pros and cons.

“Um,” I offered non-committaly. I was keeping a weather eye on our blond comrade, and his suspicious look in our direction had not subsided. If anything, it had increased. Maybe he was keeping tabs on us with that empathy thing of his.

Heero was not oblivious to Quatre’s interest. “We’ll talk about this later,” he murmured to me.

Considering Quatre’s analyzing ability…that was probably a good idea.

OWARI

Honor: *scratches head* That’s odd.
Shigeki: What is?
Honor: I could have SWORN that someone requested this pairing, but I can’t remember who it is.
Shigeki: *rifles through files* Hm, you’re right. You didn’t write this pairing down.
Honor: *peers at boys suspiciously* Unless they added in the pairing to my ‘requested’ list and then removed it once I started getting close to finishing this story…
*All boys look innocent*
Honor: I have the feeling that I’m being messed with, here…
Shigeki: I think your instincts are good on this one. So, what next?
Honor: Will you stop asking ME that question?! You’re the one that dictates which story gets inspiration next!
Shigeki: *blinks in surprise* I am?
Honor: *slumps* That was not in the least reassuring.
