" Chances"

Epilogue

We live to fight another day; we just need to survive this one.

It was the beginning of Christmas break and both couples were comfortably ensconced in a cabin on top of Eagle Peak, a ski resort on the east coast. Duo and Heero had discussed about skipping a honeymoon altogether, but Quatre had talked them into the idea of taking a belated honeymoon instead and joining the newlyweds to go play in the snow. Since that idea was far more appealing, they had agreed, making a double honeymoon.

There were times when Heero regretted the brief lapse of sanity on his part that made him agree to such plans.

When the weather was warm enough, both Duo and Quatre had proven to be little water demons. This was nothing compared to how they behaved when snow was around. Heero didn’t dare to step outside now without full body armor to protect him from a barrage of snowballs. And there was always an ambush waiting for him. Always.

Trowa had managed to escape this fate by bribing the demonic imps with home cooked meals. In fact, if Heero hadn’t known better, he could swear that Trowa knew something of the prankster’s plans beforehand because the war had barely started before Trowa had worked out a ceasefire.

In between battles, both couples managed to sneak in bouts of hot steamy sex and a few trips up and down the slopes. The cool mountain air and the relative isolation was remarkably refreshing, so they were truly able to relax and enjoy each other’s company.

Heero let his head fall back slightly, letting the hot water pour over his throat. He had been outside most of the morning, and the blazing heat against his skin was a pleasing contrast to the cold.

Little did he know…

Duo lifted a finger to his mouth, indicating to his partner in mischief to keep his movements quiet. They hoisted their buckets of snow carefully in their hands as Duo eased the bathroom door open. Trowa ghosted up behind them, camera in hand, poising at the door.

The streaming water covered any noises they made as Quatre and Duo crept up to the curtain. Quatre carefully climbed onto the closed toilet, Duo taking the more risky route of standing on the edge of the tub in order to gain the height that he needed. Duo raised his hand and counted down silently.

5, 4, 3, 2, 1…

Heero yelped, cursing as ice cold snow crashed over his head from above. He barely registered the snick and flash of light from a camera as he heard two shouts of victory and laughter. “DUO! QUATRE!”

The two didn’t bother answering, as they were busy running for their lives. Heero had the presence of mind to grab a towel and wrap it around his waist as he bolted out of the shower, intent on catching the pair and making them pay for their crimes.

As rehearsed, Duo ran one way and Quatre another, making it that much harder for Heero. Duo ducked behind a couch, hiding from view as Heero thundered past. When the danger was behind him, he leapt over the couch and started to run the other way, intent on making it outside where his barely covered husband couldn’t follow.

“DUO! OMAE O KORASU!”

Trowa took another picture as Heero thundered past, chuckling. Quatre peeked out from behind him, relaxing only when he realized that he wasn’t in any danger—yet—and it was safe enough to see what pictures Trowa had managed to take. Standing on tiptoes he looked over his new husband’s shoulders. “Let me see.”

Trowa tilted the camera up so that he could see.

Quatre smothered a laugh as he saw that Trowa had in fact taken several pictures, all of them in succession so that one could follow the chain of events quite well. One could also see that Heero had an incredible body, something that the towel around his waist did very little to cover. “These are quite good.”

Trowa smiled, happy with the praise. “I was thinking we could snatch Heero’s laptop while he’s—ah, distracted and perhaps email them to my parents.”

Quatre beamed at him. “What a marvelous idea. Trowa, I had no idea just how thoughtful you were, to be thinking of your parents and how…bored…they are while you’re on your honeymoon.”

Trowa, playing along, shrugged with an abashed expression. “You just bring out the best in me, koi.”

In the background they could hear an impact of a body against something unyielding, followed by a vicious curse. “DUO!”

“Well, let’s get cracking, shall we?” Quatre sat down at the table where the laptop was humming silently and typed in a quick command. “What is your parent’s email address again?”

Honor: There. Now you have your epilogue. Happy?
……
Honor: What?
Duo: That’s it? That’s all we get?
Honor: *blinks* Uh…yeah?
Duo: What about another lemon scene or two? This *is* a honeymoon!
Honor: After all the trouble that you gave me with the one lemon in this story, you expect me to give you another one? HA! Keep dreaming. Now, if there are no other pointless comments, I’m going back to working on Loose. Wufei?
Wufei: *glares*
Honor: Stop pouting. Come on, your turn.
Wufei: Onna. You had better give me what I was promised.
Honor: A lemon with Quatre, yes, I remember. Now come on, I need you in order to write it.
Duo: Hey, that’s no fair—EEP!
Honor: Wufei, don’t kill him. I need him for Dance with the Devil.
Wufei: *sheathes katana*
Honor: *rolls eyes* Teenagers and their hormones…
