Special Note: Oh boy, somebody shoot me. RL has been a real pain in the ---, well I think you get the idea. Anyway, this is part 6, hopefully it's worth reading. If all goes according to plan, this story will end in 8 parts. *glares meaningfully at plot bunny, that's made it's home under the computer desk* I really wasn't planning on this going on for so long, and hopefully it hasn't become a snore fest kind of story. But ya know what they say about the best "laid" plans. *smirk* Yes Tk and Hawk, the lemony 3rd fic is in the works, and hopefully it'll be well worth the wait. Like I said on my reply to part 5, you guys need to write me a nice lemony lemon as inspiration for the last fic, you all remember the pairings, 1x2,3x4,or1x3 and you know who you are and who I'm asking *impish smirk*

***John/Heero's thoughts***(Oh come on, like you didn't already know that "John" was our indestructable, 'perfect' soldier.*wicked smirk*)

Finding Myself

Part 7

Trent's approach had John a little nervous, and when the dark haired boy asked him to dance, John considered saying 'no'. One quick glance at the girls though, had him replying in the affirmative. ***They wanted me to have fun, guess I should give it a try.*** Moving out on to the floor with the taller boy, John allowed himself to be folded into strong warm arms, as the sultry beat of the song drifted around them.

"You look sensational, tonight!" Trent breathed into John's ear, pulling the short Japanese boy closer into his embrace.

"I... thank you." John's reply was slightly breathless, and he felt his body react to the boy holding him. A sudden mental image of violet eyes, and a lopsided smile, cooled his ardor, and he pulled back from the embrace slightly.

"John?" Trent's worried gaze and questioning tone pulled John back to the present, but he was at a loss as what to say to the other boy, "Let's get you back to the table." Trent finished on a worried tone, and John nodded helplessly, at a loss for a reply.
=============================
Seeing the two boys returning to the table, Liz quirked an eyebrow at Hawk, and the two by silent agreement shifted chairs to make room.

"He doesn’t look so hot." Hawk said leaning closer to Liz’s shoulder, so as not to shout over the music. Nodding Liz frowned, but didn’t reply as Trent led John to a chair and took his leave.

"John?" Tk questioned, and John smiled at her faintly.

"I’m fine, just..." he shook his head and turned his attention to the dancers on the floor.

"I’m gonna get another drink," Hawk stated, gracefully getting to her feet, "anyone want anything?" John nodded and tipped his head toward the bottle on the table, Tk shook her head, but Liz nodded.

"Double Rum!" A quick questioning glance from Tk, who knew Liz didn’t usually drink anything stronger then wine coolers, prompted a faint gesture of the hand toward the bar.

Turning to look in the direction that Liz had gestured, Tk growled softly "Shit! What’s that jerk doing here?" A questioning glance from John went unnoticed by the girls.

"Who?" John asked, the look of hatred on Tk and Hawk’s faces prompting him to speak up.

"The over grown Baboon at the bar." Hawk growled her fists clenching and unclenching at her sides.

Looking curiously at the bar John noticed two men sitting on stools, one short and stocky, the other tall and lithe. The taller of the two held john’s eye for a long moment, ***He looks familiar*** rubbing a hand wearily over his face, John looked at the shorter of the two men. ***Of the two of them, he’s the one who looks like a baboon.*** Turning his attention back to the girls, he noticed they were all talking back and forth together.

Another glance at the bar showed the shorter man leering at his three friends, and John unconsciously glared daggers at the man, who snorted and turned for his drink.

"Do you want to leave?" Hawk asked in concern regarding Liz’s pale features.

"No!" Liz stated firmly, "I’m not gonna let the jerk, ruin our first night out in months." Nodding Hawk walked off to the far end of the bar, avoiding the ‘baboon’.

Tk looked at John and smiled weakly, "His name is Scott... he’s Liz’s ex." She said in John’s ear, leaning in to be heard over the music. "And he made passes at Hawk and me while he and Liz were dating."

John turned and directed another glare in the direction of the bar only to see that Scott had moved to the end of the bar and was currently harassing Hawk. Moving to get to his feet John froze in place as a braided man signaled to the taller one he’d noticed earlier, and the two flanked Scott. The exchange was brief, and it appeared that Scott had taken the hint as he began to walk away from the bar.
==================================
Unsure of how to approach Heero, and concerned at his crush's pale appearance, Duo headed back across the floor to where Trowa was seated at the bar.

Catching sight of the bubbly more energetic of the trio of girls Heero had come in with, Duo watched her face and realized the short stocky man was an unwelcome presence. Signaling to Trowa, Duo stepped up behind the leech, as he was beginning to think of him ...just in time to hear the final part of the exchange.

"Scott, go fuck a fence post, cause it’s the only action you’re gonna see."

Before Scott could make a reply, Duo cleared his throat. "I believe the lady told you to fuck off." Regarding the two boys, Scott sneered at them and then turned as if to leave.

"Name's Max, you all right?" Duo asked, extending a hand in Hawks direction.

"Hawk." With a grin Hawk held out her hand, but before she could shake Duo’s hand, he stumbled forward, nearly shoving her into the bar. Only Duo’s quick reflexes kept him from crushing her, ending up with an arm on either side of her waist, hands braced against the bar. Glancing over his shoulder, Hawk watched as the boys, companion and Scott began to fight.
==================================
"Uh oh," Liz groaned loudly, "looks like we’d better go rescue Hawk." Pointing in the direction of the bar she got to her feet and started across the floor. Tk and John close at her heels.

Just short of reaching the bar, Tk noticed the braided boy from earlier, offer his hand to Hawk, and before anyone could give warning, Scott rounded on him and shoved him.

As the taller of the two boys began fighting with Scott, a couple of his friends stepped up and joined in. Before Tk could stop him, John was across the final distance putting himself between Hawk, the braided boy, and the two others who seemed intent on coming to Scott’s defense.

Several tense minutes passed and then the arrival of the cops sent a number of the joiners scattering. Looking around, the first thing Liz noticed was that the braided boy, his tall companion and John where nowhere to be seen. Before she could draw Tk and Hawk’s attention to John’s absence, one of the officers stepped in front of her to ask her some questions.
=================================
Carrying an unconscious Heero between them, Duo looked at Trowa and frowned, "That guy shouldn’t have been able to knock him out."

A simple nod was the only reply as Trowa shrugged his shoulders and hailed a cab. "Take him to the hotel, I’ll bring the bike." With that said and Heero deposited in the back seat of the cab, Trowa turned and walked off.

Sighing Duo climbed into the cab, gave the cabby the address and then pulled Heero closer so that Heero’s head was resting on his shoulder.

Tracing a finger gently along Heero’s face, Duo whispered softly, "What am I going to do with you koi? What am I going to do?"
====================================
Three very subdued girls sat tiredly on the living room sofa, three pairs of eyes continuously glancing at the clock as the minutes and hours ticked by.

"Should we go looking for him again?" Hawk asked quietly.

Shaking her head Liz stood from her seat, and walked over to the window. "I don’t think it’ll do any good." She said quietly, reaching out and picking up a framed black and white photo from the windowsill.

"What do you mean?" Tk asked in surprise. "You can’t mean we should give up!"

Liz shook her head sadly and walked back to her original spot. Sitting down on the couch, she placed the picture on the coffee table and stared at it silently for a long moment.

"I...I don’t think we’re going to see him again." Sad green eyes met stormy blue and then suspiciously damp hazel as the softly spoken statement hung in the air blanketing the room with a semblance of finality.
