Special Note: I blame this all on my plot bunny, and the cookie, Hawk give me, *gestures to cookie floating next to the computer screen* Her name's Mellow, (I know, not real original, but hey it fits, she's a marshmellow surprise cookie after all, LOL), Anyway, she's taken over as temporary muse, mine's run away, *glances suspiciously at Mellow's bulging stomach and whispers to the board* Truth be known I think Mellow had something to do with my muses disappearance. but I can't prove it. LOL! And can anybody tell me how you train them not to bite? *holds up bandaged fingers and pouts cutely* Or is this just a phase she'll grow out of? *gives pleading, hopeful look to Mellow, who floats and grins maniacally*

Summary: The war is over now can the girls actually help Heero to let go of the soldier enough to let him find happiness with the person who's stolen his heart, or is the Perfect Soldier destined to spend the Peace time he's worked so hard for alone.

Healing Ties

Part 2

“I didn’t mean to upset her.” A deep male voice speaking was the first thing Liz heard as she began to wake up. Struggling to place where she knew the voice, Liz sat up in time to hear Hawk’s reassurance.

“You didn’t upset her,” Hawk said softly, “simply surprised her that’s all.”

“Hawk’s right. Are you okay now, Liz?” Tk’s voice caught the attention of the other two people in the room, drawing Liz’s confused gaze to her friend.

“What happened?” Liz asked softly. Shaking her head, her eyes suddenly widened and she snapped her head toward the male presence in the room. Before anyone could make a reply, Liz launched herself off the couch and into the cobalt eyed mans arms. “John!?!” The enthusiastic cry was muffled in the front of the young mans dress shirt.

Stiffening slightly at the human contact, Heero Yuy pushed the soldier in him aside roughly and hesitantly wrapped his arms around the woman now crying lightly against his chest. Shifting position slightly towards a nearby chair, he sat down, gently pulling Liz down onto his lap.

“Hn, bakayaro” was the automatic reply, and inwardly Heero smiled, as Liz drew back and smacked him gently on the shoulder.

“I’ll bakayaro, you Mr.” Gazing back at her two friends Liz smiled slightly, face still damp from her tears. “Did you two know he was coming?”

Shaking their heads in twin gestures of confused surprise, Tk and Hawk stood staring at ‘John’, both excited and a little apprehensive.

“No, John’s as much of a surprise to us, as he is to you,” Tk said, finally breaking the spell of surprise that had come over her.

“Heero,” Heero said softly, “Heero Yuy.” He waited for the girls to make the connection and ask him to leave. Heero felt the perfect soldier moving back to the foreground of his mind. ***I shouldn’t have come, they won’t want me here.***

Seeing the cold emotionless look come back into Heero’s eyes, Tk shook her head sadly. “Stop it right now!” her voice hard and full of authority, causing Heero to look at her. “You are always welcome here, John, Heero, or whatever your name is, or was.” Nodding vehemently Hawk stepped forward, placing a hand lightly on Heero’s shoulder.

“We missed you,” Hawk said quietly, her voice catching slightly, “and knowing that you're still alive is all that matters.”

Adding her own nod to Hawk’s, Liz reached up and brushed Heero’s bangs out of his face, and giggled slightly when they fell immediately back into place.

“Hair still as stubborn as always I see,” she said, grinning madly, leaning in to give Heero another hug, “And we wouldn’t have it any other way,” she whispered softly in his ear, pulling away and standing up.

Getting to his feet, Heero looked from one girl to the next, taking in the changes that had occurred in the last five years. Stepping forward, Tk grinned madly and pulled Heero into a quick hug, letting go as soon as she felt the tensing of his shoulders.

“Boy do we have a lot to tell you!” Tk said with a smirk. Hawk's laughter, and another quick squeeze of his shoulder, had Heero turning to face the dark haired girl.

“So are we gonna order out for Japanese, or do you still remember how to cook?” A wicked grin spread across Hawk's face, making Heero's lips quirk upward slightly.

“I’ll cook.” The monotone reply made all the girls shake their heads softly.

“Heero, that was a joke,” Hawk said softly. “I’m sorry I...”

Placing a finger across Hawk’s lips, Heero smiled slightly, before dropping his hand, his face falling back to the expressionless mask.

“I’ll cook,” he said again, “if you have the stuff.” He amended lightly, throwing each of the girls a ‘please understand this isn’t easy for me’ look; each of the girls caught it and mentally interpreted in their own way.
======================================

An hour later, holding her stomach and groaning Tk flopped back into one of the living room chairs.

“Heero, there’s definitely nothing wrong with your cooking skills.” She said moaning again lightly and grinning at the faint flash of pleasure that drifted across the stoic Japanese mans face, before disappearing.

“Here, here,” Hawk grinned madly. “I’m not gonna be able to move for a week,” she added, dropping onto the couch beside Liz, who nodded and gave her own small moan at the bounce of the couch under Hawk's sudden descent.

“I third that motion,” Liz said gently, her face suddenly taking on a predatory gleam that Hawk and Tk knew all to well. “Heero?”

Turning from the window where he’d been standing, Heero looked at the redhead, silently bracing himself for the coming questions. “Hn.” The emotionless grunt caused a sad smile to flit across Liz’s features before she quickly reined it in.

“Can you cook more then just Japanese?” Puzzled glances from hawk and Tk, and a slight quirking of Heero’s eyebrow made Liz giggle.

“Hai!?!” was the somewhat surprised reply, Heero’s eyes betraying his confusion slightly at the question, **That’s not what I expected.*** He intoned mentally, waiting to hear where the line of questioning was going.

Grinning madly, Hawk sat up straight on the couch and sent Liz a questioning look; at the slight nod from her friend and the devilish gleam in her eyes, Hawk burst into happy laughter.

“What exactly are you two scheming for Heero?” Tk asked, the stiffening of Heero’s shoulders telling her he’d also like to know the answer to that question.

“Ahem, as the director of this fine establishment,” Liz began, trying to sound serious and failing miserably, “how would you like a job, Mr. Yuy?”

Shaking her head in sudden understanding, Tk clapped her hands enthusiastically, and sent Heero a sympathetic look as he quirked an eyebrow at Liz.

“Nani?” Heero questioned, still not following the line of thought the girls had obviously all connected on.

“She’s asking if you’d like to earn your keep Heero.” Tk said softly, the sudden gleam of understanding and gratitude in Heero’s eyes making her smile in thoughtful comprehension. <He wasn’t sure he should stay without paying us back some how.> Looking toward Liz, Tk caught the ‘I thought so’ message in Liz’s eye <She knew exactly what was going through his head, and is giving him a way to pay us back, even though we all know he doesn’t need to.> Tk’s mind supplied, <Well almost all of us knew,> she amended mentally giving Heero a loving glance.

Hawk grinned, glancing from one person to another ~~Oh you're good Liz,~~ Hawk though,t her grin widening with each passing second, ~~Come on Heero, she’s giving you a reason to stay, even though you don’t need one, and we’d keep you anyway. Say yes, please say yes, and let us help you through this.~~

Mentally shaking his head at how Liz had caught on to his inner turmoil, Heero considered the offer thoughtfully. ***How is it that these girls know me so well when I don’t even know myself?*** Filing that thought away for later, Heero nodded his head and looked at Liz.

“Ninmu Ryoukai." At the confused looks from the girls, Heero mentally slapped himself, replying softly in English, “Mission Accepted.” The girls all gave him soft understanding smiles.

***Will they be so understanding when they learn the truth about me?*** Heero’s mind questioned even as he sat down in the nearest chair. Unsure of how to start a conversation, he simply waited for the girls to begin questioning him about his whereabouts and goings-on.

Sharing a silent ‘we’ll talk later’ message with the girls, Liz turned to Heero and began filling him in on the events in her life from the day he’d left them 5 years earlier. Choosing to ignore the semi-confused gaze of surprise Heero pinned her with, she mentally willed the girls to follow her lead.
