The Greatest Gift
It hadn't taken much effort to find them, it really hadn't surprised him that the other four would gather together on this special holiday. Very little effort to find where they were gathering this year, and to enter the room unobserved. No surprise either that the others exchanged gifts, but somewhat surprising to find there were gifts with his name on them piled along with the others, each tagged with the givers name. Four figures entering the room, had him checking the security of his hiding spot. It wouldn't do for them to see him too early it would ruin the surprise, ruin all the planning that he'd done to arrive on this day and deliver his presents. A faint ghost of a smile played along his lips, he wondered who would be the first to notice the extra gifts next to each of their piles under the tree, so much careful thought and deliberation had gone into the choosing of those gifts, but he hadn't signed his name to any of them, not sure of his reception, and knowing that they would know from whence they came. Gifts were noticed and opened, but he barely registered the reactions of the others, his focus soley on the lone figure sitting on the couch, a simple white envelope held in shaking hands. The only embelishment, the persons name, not written, merely typed so as to prolong the suspense. A plain white envelope, a single sheet of paper inside, two words written in his own hand writting, 'Look Up'. Stepping forward his ears registered the gasps of the other three, but didn't pull his gaze from the one he'd waited so long to see, nerves tensing, heart pounding as the head lifted to look at him, eyes filling with tears. One step became two quickly turning to three, as he crossed the room, falling to his knees. Tears falling unashamedly from his own eyes, voice tight, sound forced past a growing lump, to phrase the question, "Forgive me?" Before he dropped his head to the lap in front of him, shoulders shaking with the silent sobs of emotion. A gentle hand brushing over his hair accompanied by a soft voice, also brimming with emotion he hadn't dared to count on, "Nothing to forgive." Hands rough and scared as his own, so gently tipped his face upward, forcing his damp violet eyes to meet equally damp cobalt, the hands framing his face pulled him up and thier lips met, in a poignant moment, the world and time disappearing. As the kiss broke, cobalt eyes filled with more tears, the voice struggled with and finally managed, "Given me the greatest gift of all. Aisheteru!"
