Buffy humor (mixed with mine), fluff, language, violence, angst, supernatural, yaoi romance and sap and limes, yuri in the background, end of the world-ness
hints of Buffy lines (will you find them back ?), of Tolkien, and even a bit of Matrix if you look really closely (that's all in the philosophy)

Pairings : 1x2, 3x4, 6x5, explicit references to past 13x5

Author's note : You need to know quite a bit about the Buffy universe to understand this fic. If you don’t know what Buffy is or stopped watching after season two, just take a browse on the official UPN site to see what the heck this is all about.
The fic takes place between the seasons 4 and 5 of BTVS, which means :
1) Oz is gone and Willow and Tara are a couple
2) Spike has the chip in his head that prevents him from biting humans
3) Giles is the owner of the Magic Box
4) Xander and Anya are a couple
And yes, there's no Riley in that story, since I don't like the man ;)

"Chosen Ones"

Part 1 - Sexy Demons

“Damn it, where did it go ?”

Buffy came to a stop near a tombstone, panting. Willow soon joined her.

“You shouldn’t come with me, Will. It’s dangerous and you know it”, Buffy said between gasps.

“It’s okay”, the red-haired witch answered, breathing heavily.

Buffy groaned. First time ever to be outraced by a vampire, and it had to be today, of all the crappy days of her life.

“Do vamps work out nowadays or what ?”, she whined. “Giles will have me running laps if he ever knows this.”

“I won’t tell a word”, Willow promised with a light smile. “But now that you mention it, Brett was in the running team.”

“Fabulous. Can’t you do a spell to stop him ?”

“I’m not sure. It takes quite a lot of energy, and I don’t think I have what it takes here”, she said, patting the bag in which she was carrying her wiccan supplies.

“Too bad. I’ll run, then.”

“Wait !”

Willow grabbed Buffy’s sleeve.

“There are some people there”, she whispered, pointing towards a crypt.

“Spike’s probably having friends for a sleepover, Will.”

“Uh uh, I don’t think that’s it.”

Buffy took the time to look more carefully. Five young men were sitting in a circle on the grass of the graveyard, talking in quiet voices. They were all wearing darks outfits that could not be clearly distinguished under the fading moonlight. And they were all highly unusual.

“What do you think ?”, Buffy asked under her breath. “Some morbid death worshipping group, creeps who like to hang out in cemeteries, or bunch o’ demons plotting ?”

“They look quite normal”, Willow started, but she stopped.

Those guys didn’t look normal. Normal guys don’t wear all the same outfit to hang out in cemeteries at night. Normal guys don’t hang out in cemeteries at night.

“Here it is !”, Buffy suddenly said.

She was right. Brett the vampire had apparently gone in circles, because he was back.

“What do we do about those ones ?”, Willow asked, indicating the small group.

“Later. Vamps first, creepy teenagers second. We’ll tell Giles.”

“I’m bored !”, Duo said loudly.

“You are always bored when people aren’t biting each other’s head off, baka”, Heero snapped.

“No, I mean, why do we have to open that dimensional portal ? Don’t you think Zechs of all people could create it ?”

“He can”, Quatre cut in quietly. “It would just deprive him of too much energy. We can’t afford that right now.”

Duo suddenly heard a noise. He looked around and spotted two girls, a blonde and a red-haired.

“We’ve got company”, he said in low tones.

“They won’t disturb us”, Wufei said. “I think they have other business for the moment.”

“Wu, honestly, you should think of pulling that stick off your ass sometimes. I can give you a hand, if you want.”

“Stop calling me that”, Wufei snapped angrily. “And say that once more and I shall rip you inside out with a wink.”

Duo did not seem to be impressed by the threat. He began to hum something under his breath.

“Duo, could you keep it down ?”, Quatre suddenly said. “I can’t find the connection if you sing. It blurs the signal.”

“Sorry, Cat.”

Silence fell. Quatre closed his eyes and took a deep breath. His whole body shivered. When he opened his eyes again, they were gleaming with a strange shade of gold.

“I got it”, he said. “Tomorrow, same place, same time.”

Without another word, they all got up and walked away into darkness, each of them taking a different path.

****

Spike was grumpy. Eating out of blood bags for more than two months. Being almost forced to help that damn Slayer and her little friends because it was the only way some of his ex-people would leave him alone. And being forced to be nice to those bloody humans because every time he attacked one, the bloody chip in his head reminded him what pain really meant. It was like having Happy Meals walking around and knowing you would never get a chance of tasting even one bite. Pure vamp torture.

He was making his way through the graveyard, going back to his crypt, when something stopped him. He had seen the light of a lamp reflect on something golden. And it turned out that the something golden was actually someone’s hair.

The boy looked approximately fifteen. He was wearing tight black leather pants, a shirt made of some smooth black material that glittered silver when it moved, and a long black leather coat. He had high black combat boots, and was walking down an alley, body moving with grace, like a cat.

Spike grinned. Another one of those pampered kidos that believed they were tough, and who tried to dress as vamps. Actually, this outfit was quite nice, Spike thought. He loved his own leather coat (which he had taken from the last Slayer he had sucked dry), but it was old. The one the kid was wearing was all new and shining. Spike’s grin widened. He didn’t even need to bite. The boy looked gentle and innocent, all he had to do was scare the shit out of him and take that coat, and maybe the boots.

He followed the boy, who was luckily heading towards a deserted and dark corner of the graveyard. The blond actually stopped when he reached the wall that encircled the place. Now was the good time.

“Hey, you !”, Spike called.

The blond boy turned around. Spike bit his bottom lip. He had a pearly white skin through which you could almost see his veins, pulsing with blood. He looked at the man who had called him with innocent big green-blue eyes. And he did not look afraid.

“Do you intend to follow me any further?”, he asked in a polite voice.

Spike grinned again and vamped out. To his utter surprise, that only earned him a raised eyebrow from the boy.

“Oh, you’re a vampire”, the blond said casually. “And I thought I was followed by something dangerous.”

“What ?”, Spike snapped.

Suddenly, a whirl of dark smoke appeared next to the boy. There was a popping sound, and another boy straightened up. He was dressed in the same way, and had the same kind of creamy white skin that almost made Spike ache to bite in spite of the chip. A long braid the color of a deep chestnut was swinging in his back, and he was staring at Spike with violet eyes.

“Want a hand, Cat ?”, he said to the blond boy. “Nasty guy bothering ya ?”

“Nothing serious”, ‘Cat’ answered. “It’s just a vamp.”

That hurt Spike’s pride.

“Hey wait a minute ! I’m not ‘just a vamp’ ! I am Spike !”

Blank looks stared at him.

“William the Bloody”, Spike tried. “The one who slayed two Slayers. Now come on, people, You don’t look human, but everyone knows me around here!”

“We don’t”, the braided boy said with a chuckle.

Spike gave a start when a blue light flickered right next to him. There was another popping noise, and suddenly, a third boy was standing there. Same outfit, Asian features, unruly brown bangs and piercing Prussian blue eyes. He shot an interrogative look to the other two. The blond one nodded to him, but the braided one gave him a bright smile.

“Hee-chan ! You heard it too ?”

“Hn.”

“Well, no biggie, see ? It’s just a vamp.”

Spike’s temper was starting to rise. Would they just stop calling him ‘just a vamp’ ? He didn’t have time to argue further, though. A green light and a red flame shone brightly behind him. Two more popping sounds and two more boys. One of them was tall, with light brown bangs falling on his face, leaving only one sparkling green eye to be seen. The other one was shorter, looking Chinese, with smooth jet-black hair tied up in a ponytail and almond-shaped jet-black eyes. They both eyed the scene and didn’t say a word.

“Tro, Wuffie, just in time for the fun, look what Cat picked up !”

“A vamp ?”, the Chinese boy said dejectedly. “I thought we would have something entertaining to do.”

“I thought too”, the blond boy said. “My signals are a bit messed up with that location thing.”

“I’ll take care of that for you later”, the tall boy said.

“NOW JUST WAIT A MINUTE”, Spike bellowed.

The five boys stopped chattering and looked at him.

“I don’t know who you guys are, but this is MY graveyard and MY town. So you creeps just get the fuck out of here. I don’t know what you are exactly, but I think I can beat you up, and to hell with the damn chip !”

“He thinks he can beat us up”, the braided boy said, and he burst out laughing.

The others didn’t follow, but they were all more or less smiling or smirking. That was enough for Spike. He rushed towards the blond one, who seemed to be the smallest and the weakest. The boy raised a hand in front of his body and the vampire was thrown backwards by an invisible force. He got to his knees with difficulty.

“You son of a bitch”, he said through gritted teeth.

The Chinese boy frowned. He held out his right hand palm upwards, and Spike left the ground. He found himself hovering about three meters above the grass.

“Hey ! Stop it !”

“Can I try somethin’ ?”, the braided boy asked.

“Be my guest”, the Chinese answered.

The braided boy held up his right hand and made a strange gesture, as if he was crushing something in his fist. Spike felt as if an iron hand was actually crushing his heart inside of his chest, except that his tormentor was not even touching him.

“Funny how the weak point of vampires is the heart”, the braided boy said. “Considering it isn’t even beating, it’s pretty much useless. Yet it is the best to kill them, aim straight at the heart.”

The blond boy chuckled.

“Wanna join us, Cat ?”

“I am too tired, I’ll need Trowa to restore me before I can have some fun.”

“Whoo, restoration, I like that ! But why do I always get a feeling you get something special, Cat ?”

“Because I’m his favorite, I suppose”, the blond boy said, shooting a glance over tombs to the tallest boy.

Green eyes flashed with what could be interpreted as tenderness.

“Hee-chan ?”, the braided boy asked.

The last boy waved his hand almost annoyingly. Deep gashes appeared on the sides of Spike’s face and chest. The vampire was desperately trying to understand how things had gone from innocent-looking boy with an interesting coat to five demons torturing him. Oh, and he was trying to stay alive too.

“That’s enough now, boys”, the tallest one said. “We’re not supposed to eliminate any form of life, human or not, until Zechs arrives.”

“Well, he’d better hurry up, ‘cause I’m gettin’ bored ! He could at least have told us what the hell we’re supposed to be doing in that dimension.”

“Does the word Hellmouth mean anything to you, Maxwell ?”, the Chinese said.

“You bet !”

Both of them suddenly let go off Spike. The vampire fell heavily on the floor, bleeding.

“Let’s go”, the braided said. “Part-human demons are no fun.”

****

“Creeps ?”, Giles asked, trying to put an item correctly on one of the shelves of the Magic Box.

“Yeah, creeps”, Buffy answered. “Like funny-looking guys having a reunion in a graveyard two nights before the full moon.”

“Don’t you think you might be overreacting ?”, Giles said, stepping down the ladder. “From what you and Willow told me, they didn’t seem to be dangerous.”

“It’s the fact that they’re all wearing the same clothes that’s bothering me”, Willow said. “Like some kind of uniform. You remember that club we had two years ago ? The freaks that wanted to become vampires ?”

“Yeah”, Buffy said, thinking fast. “You think it could be the same kind of people ?”

“I don’t know. I must admit that … there was a strange kind of energy coming from that group.”

“A dark energy ?”, Giles asked, suddenly interested.

“Not really. I think I must have made a mistake, because obviously it seems weird, but it looks like they were casting a location spell.”

“A location spell ? In a graveyard ?”

“What kind of people do that ?”, Buffy said.

“Wiccas”, Willow answered.

“Sorry, Will. But male wiccas part of some strange group meeting in the middle of the night in a graveyard and all wearing the same outfits ?”

“It is quite strange, actually”, Giles said. “I’ll have to do some research. Any trouble during patrol ?”

Willow and Buffy looked at each other, set on the fact that no one would mention the vampire who had almost run away.

“Nothing wrong”, Buffy said. “Except, maybe … I have a bad feeling. That’s three nights in a row I find demons ramping on the streets for no reason. You know, usually, it’s one vamp here, one vamp there, and the demons come when they got something to look for. But I’ve killed five demons in three nights.”

“That is strange”, Giles said absentmindedly. “Maybe there is a link with those boys you saw.”

“Not boys”, a broken voice said behind him. “Demons.”

Spike got into the light. Giles, Buffy and Willow immediately saw that he was a mess. His jeans and T-shirt were torn, he had blood everywhere and seemed exhausted.

“Spike !”, Buffy exclaimed. “Did you cheat at poker again, or what ?”

“They cornered me. In the graveyard.”

He coughed and spat some blood.

“Would you please not do that in my shop ?”, Giles asked.

“Yeah, well sorry if I am barely alive to tell you about those guys !”

“What happened, Spike ?”, Buffy asked, refocusing on the subject.

“I saw one of them walking down an alley. He had a nice leather coat, so I wondered if I could just borrow it.”

Buffy rolled her eyes.

“Hey, I am a bad guy, okay ?”, Spike snapped. “Anyway, it was a trap. He just led me at the back of the graveyard, and all of a sudden, there are his little friends popping around out of thin air. They did that to me without even touching me. They beat the crap out of me just by holding out their hands.”

Giles began to think fast. There were not a lot of demons who were able to put a vampire in such a bad state. Especially not Spike. Since he had discovered that demons were the only things he could harm, Spike was almost twice as vicious as he had been before with them. Not to mention the fact that demons were usually looked down on to by vampires, since they were not as intelligent, even if they were more powerful.

“Maybe someone summoned a group of demons to accomplish something.”

“Oh yeah, they were speaking about opening a dimensional portal, if that means anything to you, book-guy !”

“A dimensional portal ? Here ?”

“We must stop them !”, Buffy said.

“I think we must”, Giles admitted. “Now is a particularly bad time to open dimensional portals. Moreover, these kind of links are usually designed to summon demons and wicked creatures from other demoniac worlds.”

“Wicked creatures ?”, Buffy asked, eyebrows raised. “Honestly, Giles, you’ve been here for three years now, can’t you try and start speaking real English ?”

“We will discuss my way of speaking English later, if you don’t mind, Buffy. Willow, you’ll have to get Tara, we may need her abilities. Buffy, please warn Xander and Anya and tell them to meet us here. And you”, he said turning to Spike, “For God’s sake stop bleeding on my floor and get back where you belong before the sun rises.”

“So what ? I don’t get anything after risking my life for you ?”

“You didn’t risk your life for us, you were punished because of your greediness.”

“What’s the difference ? I am hurt, and I gave you some info.”

“There is some blood in the fridge at the back. Take it and go.”

“That’s nice ! You guys are …”

“Spike !”, Buffy interrupted. “Get out or I’ll ask Mr Pointy to finish the job those demons just started”, she said, brandishing a stake.

“Bloody humans”, Spike growled before disappearing in the shadows.

****

“Feel better now ?” Trowa asked.

“Ooh yes”, Quatre said, stretching like a cat.

They were in a deserted cabin in the middle of the woods, just outside Sunnydale. Quatre left the bed to lie down, completely naked, on the carpet in front of the fire. Trowa soon joined him.

“Are you sure ?”

“Yes. But if you’re worried, you can give me a bit more.”

A faint green light glowed in Trowa’s hand. The tall boy put it on an almost invisible mark on Quatre’s wrist. The blond boy chuckled.

“It tickles.”

“Then it means you’ve got enough.”

“I never have enough”, Quatre said, reaching out to Trowa’s neck and pulling him closer. “You know it.”

Quatre kissed Trowa deeply. Trowa did nothing as the smaller boy plundered his mouth hungrily. When the kiss ended, though, he smiled, and invited Quatre on the bed again.

“You need to rest”, he said. “We will all open the portal, but you are the only one who can locate Zechs. If you’re tired, we will have to wait for the next full moon.”

“There probably won’t be a next full moon in this dimension if we can’t open the portal, Trowa.”

“Just lie down, and stay calm.”

“I am calm”, Quatre said quietly. “Come lie down with me ?”
