is a work of fiction and written for fun, not profit Rating: PG 13 Warnings: Pairings: 1x2 Summary: neko!Heero. Hints of 1x2. The one little
star ornament keeps taunting him. " Christmas Tree Assassin" Dodge left, Dodge right, then left and left again. Clamber up the largest obstacle and then he would be within reach. Heero could see the plan clearly. The star had no chance. Heero waited for Relena to walk out of the room and moved. Dashing out from behind the couch, he leapt over the womans knitting and began to dodge the presents. He banked left, right, left, left and then he dug his claws into the biggest present of all and pulled until he got atop it, his weight only gently moving the unstable present. The star was closer then ever. All he needed was one good pounce and-- Heero! Relena screamed, taking offense to the partially scratched open gift, and she lifted him right off and away from the star. So close, and yet, so far. The star would live for another day. But Heero had them numbered. Settling down on the couch, Relena dropped him into her lap and began to pet his deep brown fur. Hmph. Hilde was right about Relenas soft spot for him. Instead of scolding him, she was rubbing that perfect spot just behind his ear that made him go weak in the knees. Change of mission. The star could wait. Heero curled into the womans lap with a deep purr of contentment and let her please him. A knock at the door pulled Heero from paradise. Relena began to move so Heero, not wanting to be moved like a piece of furniture, simply stalked off to nap on his cushions (the whole left side of the couch). His fur needed a cleaning. It was a hard life, being a cat. He heard Relena squawking to Hilde at the door, leaving Heero to his own devices for a while. It didnt take long for the glittering little star to catch his attention again. It was right there. He could see it from every corner of the room (except from inside the laundry basket, but that was only natural. No one ever disturbed him in the laundry basket. Especially not one smug, taunting little ornament!). Yet, still, he could not get to it. Deciding to show the little star its future and grave, Heero got up from his cushions and leapt onto a stray bit of wrapping left over from this mornings activities. He didnt understand why Relena would cover all sorts of human things up just to take it off. He knew the cat treats were inside the damn flashy bag for weeks, but she wouldnt let him have them. The nasty woman. She had deliberately put the mocking little ornament up then put out his cat treats and then didnt let him have either. While showing the star his impressive sneak-pounce that caught every stray bit of paper in his shredding claws (which he was sure was causing the star to tremble in fright), Heero caught an alarming smell. There was another cat in the house. There was another CAT in HIS HOUSE. Following the enemy smell, Heero was lead straight to the kitchen, where Relana had just handed Hilde the last of the wrapped boxes. Hilde had a wrapped box of her own which she was giving to Relena. The box had air holes. That bitch. Relena opened the box and squeeled in delight. A cute little Mrow met her ears and Relena went into meltdown, pulling the black tiny thing out to her and petting it. Heero scowled, and began to make his way up the counter to get to the intruder. Oh Heero, look! Hilde bought us a new friend! Look at him! His name it Duo! and she put the interloper straight in front of him. Heero hissed. Duo hissed. Relena grabbed Heero while Hilde grabbed Duo and yanked them away. Take THAT you infiltrating usurper, Heero thought. Relena gave his side a smack! Now, dont you be like that to Duo! Its his first day out of the shelter and you give him a hard time. Bad Heero! Youre never going to make friends that way. No social skills. Heero swiped at her hand to get her to shut up. He was perfectly aware that he was less then social. He didnt need HER rubbing it in. A few minutes later Hilde emerged from the kitchen with the little black cat dangling from her arms, looking like she had given it a stern admonishment for his behavior as well. Hilde put Duo down on the floor. Relena put Heero down on the floor. They looked at each other, staring the other down, looking for weakness. Heero would not flinch. Duo made the first move. But not to back down, no, no. Duo moved into Heeros space a little, then a little more. One more inch and Heero was ready to knock him into next week. But Duo stopped. Meow. Names Duo. Nice place you got here. Heero crouched down in defensive posture and hissed, I dont like you. Duo moved back a few paces and licked his paw, eyes never leaving Heero. Well, youre no pack of catnip yourself, but Im stuck here, so you better get used to me. Heero gave a little spit, but turned and stalked back into the living room to sit on HIS cushions, flicking his tail as he went. Duo finished cleaning himself on the floor. Hilde and Relena were cooing and chatting and the star was LAUGHING from its unreachable perch. Heero gave the star a warning mrow and promised murder with his eyes. Relena and Hilde left to go get cakes, leaving Heero, the star, and Duo all alone in the living room. Heeros eyes were trained on the little mocking ornament. I can help you with that, you know. The little black alley cat said. Heeros ears shot back. I mean it. I can help you get that star. I cant do it alone, but we could team up, just this once, and get it together. Duo made it sound oh so logical, this working together thing. For the first time, Heero felt a little curious--he had never had a friend before. And from Relenas reaction to Duo, Heero knew that he wouldnt be going anywhere anytime fast. They should learn to get along. At least to get the star. Im listening Heero stated and stood up from his cushions to hear Duos plan. It was insane. But it was worth a try. Duo smirked and bit a bottom branch of the tree. Help me. I may not be able to pounce as good as you, but I know that if I cant get to it, then Ill bring it to me! Relena and Hilde were still in the kitchen. It was the perfect opportunity to try out Duos plan. Heero grabbed another branch, Duo bit into his a few feet away. With a shared look they both began to pull, using all their might and reflexes to pull, pull, pull! The tree rocked under their dual onslaught, the little bells and tinsel falling noisily to the floor. Only a few more seconds and Relena would come to investigate, but. But! The tree began to topple! Heero and Duo shot out of the way as the whole thing came crashing down to the floor. The star, shaken from its lofty perch, rolled across the floor, vulnerable. Heero took advantage and pounced, finally scratching his teeth across the little golden surface and teaching it what would happen if it taunted HIM. Heero moved a bit to let Duo get a good claw in at the no-longer smug little ornament. Mischievousness glinted in those violet eyes, mirroring Heeros own. Perhaps partnership wasnt too bad of an idea. From the hallway, Relena shrieked. This was going to be the start of a beautiful friendship.
